Claimed by My Bully Alpha Chapter 351
Aurora’s P.O.V
I had managed to calm Maggie down, at least enough for her to be able to walk back to the condo on her own. It wasn’t easy—watching her break down like that, and it had done nothing to calm the storm of uncertainty brewing inside me. But now, as I stepped back into the office, the air felt a little easier to breathe, even if the unease still gnawed at my insides.
Caleb and Caroline sat in their usual spots, exchanging quiet words, but it was Alpha Camden who met my eyes first. There was a heaviness in his gaze that immediately drew my attention, a weight that I could feel pressing down on me even before he spoke.
“Aurora,” he started, his voice low, steady, but there was something in it—something about the way he said my name—that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. “There’s something we need to discuss.”
My pulse quickened, my mind already racing, trying to figure out what could be so important that he had just used that tone on me…the tone of an Alpha.
“It’s best you know what's going on. The attack with the rogues... it’s not something we can ignore anymore.” Alpha Camden paused, letting the words hang in the air. He didn’t need to say more—I could feel the tension building, thickening with every passing second.
I nodded, trying to steady myself. I had a hundred questions swirling inside my head, but it seemed like none of them would make it past my lips.
Suddenly, Caleb’s voice cut through the tension. “But dad, we have it handled! We can—”
But whatever he was about to say, whatever protest he was preparing to make, it died on his tongue when Alpha Camden shot him a look. It wasn’t harsh—at least not in the way most people would expect—but it was a silent command. Caleb went quiet in an instant, his jaw tight as he sat back in his chair, arms crossed, clearly frustrated but unwilling to argue further.
With that out of the way, Alpha Camden turned back to me, and this time, his expression was serious, resolute. “Damien will be coming over again,” he said, and I could feel the weight of his words settling over me like a dark cloud. “We need his help to investigate further. This... this isn’t just a random attack, Aurora. This is something bigger, and we can’t let it slip through our fingers.”
I couldn't hold back the worry creeping up my chest. The rogue attack had come from nowhere, and the more I learned about them, the more unsettling it became.
"So, did they make it to Damien’s pack too?" I asked, my voice coming out almost too steady, as though I were bracing myself for the worst. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but I was already preparing for the answers that would confirm my fears.
Alpha Camden met my gaze with a sigh. "They did," he said, his voice low and steady, but there was something off in his eyes, something shadowed. "And they died in the same way."
I felt a chill spread down my spine. My fingers gripped the edge of the table tightly, but it was like a physical reminder of how little control I had over what was happening. “Died in the same way?” I repeated, trying to make sense of what he was saying.
“You mean—” I hesitated, the realization forming in my mind as I pieced the fragments together. “The same way as the rogues in our pack?”
He nodded, confirming the worst. "Yes, exactly. The same twisted, unnatural deaths. It’s all connected. According to Alice, they were long dead before someone brought them back."
My stomach churned. “Brought them back?” The words felt foreign, out of place, like something out of a nightmare. "So, if they were dead... you’re telling me someone had the power to raise the dead?" My pulse quickened. The possibility that this wasn’t some isolated incident—it was starting to feel like a sickening pattern.
I didn’t even have to ask the next question, but I did anyway, the words slipping out in a breathless rush. “Does this mean there’s some connection to Lucas?”
Alpha Camden didn’t answer immediately, his eyes narrowing slightly as he regarded me. After a moment, he finally spoke, his voice grave. "So far, there’s nothing concrete. That house, the one you’re thinking of—it was burned down. There were no traces of magic left. No signs of anything that could explain how they were resurrected." He ran a hand through his hair, frustration edging his tone. "And that’s why we’re all so damn confused. We don’t know who else could have this kind of power."
I let his words settle over me, trying to absorb the gravity of it all. If it wasn’t Lucas or Harmona—who could it be? My thoughts raced, trying to grasp onto something, anything that made sense. But nothing did. It was as if someone had ripped open the veil between life and death, and now we were left scrambling, lost in the chaos of it all.
“Someone must have done it,” I muttered, more to myself than to him. “Someone has to have the power…something similar to Lucas and Harmona…but...”
Alpha Camden’s gaze softened slightly, but the hardness never fully left his eyes. "We’ll find them. But for now, there’s nothing to do but keep searching." His words were like a hollow promise. “However, we must always be on our guards. There’s someone trying to harm our packs, and we must be prepared for anything to come.”
His words made a chill run down my spine at the implications. This, whatever it was…it was about something far darker than what we had faced with Lucas and Harmona…
"Is there anyone else you think might know something?" I asked, my voice quieter now, the edge of desperation creeping in. “Anyone who could help us understand this... power? Does Alice has anyone else?”
Alpha Camden shook his head. “We’ve questioned everyone we could, but there’s no clear answer. Whoever’s behind this, they’re careful. And they’re hiding in the shadows.”
I pressed my lips together, my heart sinking further. "Shadows...," I repeated, the word tasting bitter on my tongue.
And suddenly…the image of that shadowy figure…with those skeletal hands and the hollow eyes, crossed my mind…
And I knew I couldn’t stay silent any longer.
