Claimed by My Bully Alpha Chapter 395

Aurora’s P.O.V

The moment Caleb shut the door behind him and stretched out his arms, Riley practically leapt into his arms. I sat there, watching as Caleb’s expression softened completely—every hard line on his face melted into gentleness. He cradled Riley against his chest like he was the most precious thing in the world, then turned to me with a silent question in his eyes. I nodded. Without another word, Caleb carried Riley to the bed, his boots thudding softly against the wooden floor.

Caleb slid into the bed first, placing Riley gently between us. “There we go, champ,” he said in that low, soothing voice of his, pulling the blankets up around Riley’s small frame. I moved closer and tucked the covers more securely around Riley, who squirmed a little before nestling closer to me. My hand found its way to his curls, and I began softly patting his head, brushing the strands back rhythmically to help him relax. His breathing was still shallow, the excitement and confusion of the day not yet settled in his chest.

“Caleb?” Riley’s voice was a whisper in the dim room, the only light coming from the candle beside the bedside table.

“Yeah, buddy?” Caleb replied, already shifting onto his side to face us, his arm resting protectively across Riley’s body.

“Can you tell me a story?” Riley’s eyes blinked slowly, sleep tugging at him, but curiosity was stronger still.

“A story about wolves. And how they slay demons.”

I blinked and looked down at him, confused. “Demons?” I repeated softly. “Why would wolves be slaying demons, baby?”

He turned his head toward me slightly, a pout forming. “Kids at school were talking about it. About how the soldier wolves went into the forest and killed demons. They said the demons were called rogues.”

My heart clenched, and I exchanged a glance with Caleb. I saw the way his jaw tensed, the flicker of protectiveness in his eyes. Demons. That’s what the kids were calling the rogues now. We both knew exactly what they were talking about—feral wolves, lost souls, broken minds, and the real horror behind the fairytales children passed around like candy.

Say something, I whispered through our link. Say something magical, something that won’t scare him. He doesn’t need to know the truth. Not yet.

Caleb’s eyes met mine, and he gave me the faintest nod before turning back to Riley. His voice dropped into that storytelling cadence he’d always been so good at—the kind that made you believe in other worlds and ancient secrets.

“Well,” Caleb began, reaching to gently tug the blanket up around Riley’s shoulders, “a long time ago, there was a pack of wolves unlike any other. They weren’t just regular wolves—they were Guardians. Big, strong, and filled with ancient magic that made their fur shine like stars.”

Riley’s eyes widened, and I felt his little body still beside me, hanging onto every word.

“These wolves had one job,” Caleb continued. “To protect the forest, the moon, and all the creatures that lived under its light. But in the darkest part of the woods, there were creatures born of shadows—creatures that forgot who they were. They turned into demons, not because they were evil, but because they lost their light. The Guardians, they didn’t just slay them… they tried to help them remember.”

“Remember what?” Riley asked, voice small, barely a breath.

“Themselves,” Caleb said with a soft smile. “They reminded them of who they used to be. The Guardians would fight to protect others, yes, but they never forgot that sometimes, the strongest thing you can do… is show someone the way back home.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat and smiled down at Riley, brushing my fingers gently along his hairline. His eyes were fluttering shut now, his breath deepening. I knew the story had wrapped itself around him like a warm blanket.

“Were you one of the Guardians?” Riley mumbled.

Caleb chuckled under his breath, and for a second, I swore there was a hint of sadness there—like the weight of everything he’d ever done was pressing on him.

“I try to be,” Caleb whispered. “Every day.”

Thank you.

He didn’t say anything back. He just nodded, his fingers brushing Riley’s shoulder as if he needed the contact too. For now, the demons—real or imagined—were far away. And here in this bed, we were just a family trying to keep the night at bay.

However…it seemed that Riley wasn’t yet satisfied with the story.

“But…but…you didn’t tell me how you defeated the demons!” He looked at Caleb with his big blue eyes, his lips trembling slightly. “Everyone said that you were there too! That you slayed the demons as well. I want to know your story, Caleb. I want to tell everyone just how brave you were.”
