The Rare and Rejected Mate Chapter 16

Deon's P.O.V.

We are in a room, the doctor and nurses have both released her and told her that she's well enough to go back home but they ordered that she rest and relax and, knowing Amber she won't.

"Amber, I'm so glad that you are back no, you don't understand how worried I was. Every day was a nightmare for me, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I was trying to mind like you every second of the day but then I realized that we haven't made it yet so I couldn't so I bugged your brother or your father and when they couldn't get through to you that's when I get really worried and maybe a little bit angry too." I show her the hole in the wall behind a painting that is above her bed.

" I can see, didn't your hand hurt when you did that?" She takes my hand and she turns it over to see my Knuckles and they are totally red but with old scars. She kisses it in an instant I feel so much better and I just want to hold her and tell her that she's safe now and that no one is going to get her not as long as I'm around."

"Well, I'm glad that it's over and that I am with you." She looks down at her thumbs and walks over to her chair in the room and sits down with a worried look on her face. " I have something to tell you and I don't know how you're going to take it.

"If it's about your first mate, you don't have to worry I already know Diamond already told me."

"Oh, you aren't upset that you're not my first?"

"At first I was but, then if I did become your first meet everything in my life would change drastically and I wouldn't be able to meet you now. Everything has perfect timing and our perfect timing is now." She walks over to me by the window sometimes my face towards her I caress her cheek as she wraps her arms around my neck. We both are happy that we found our Second Chance mate. " I have something to show you you are my Second Chance mate as well. My first mate was horrible, she wasn't faithful, even though the mate bond was strong still didn't what makes. She would always disappear at times and even on days oh, I would be so worried and I would be out looking for her at all times of the night. Finally, one day I found her and a house with a bunch of guys and you were half-naked. I don't know what happened next but, 5 guys had broken noses and I was dragging her out of that house and bringing her back to my house.

I wanted to give her a chance to explain herself but, apparently, she didn't want me to. When I asked her what was going on oh, that's when she decided that the mate bond wouldn't work. She decided that she wanted to be free and not have to be tied down to a mate. So she asked me to reject her and at first, I didn't for a while but then I saw how unhappy it was making her so, one night I came to her and I set her free.

" I'm sorry, that must have been awful and heartbreaking no, I can't imagine what that's like. Losing a mate and actually having a mate murdered two different things and the way they are similar but to have them mate who's unwilling to be with you, that's unheard of. The Moon Goddess designs as to be mate because she knows that we can help each other and that we can learn from one another."

"But, if I didn't let her go then, I wouldn't have been able to have met you, Amber you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I can't wait to make you my wife one day the mother of my pups."

"You mean that?" She looks at me with her big brown eyes and I'm leaning to tilt her chin up and I kiss her and at first, she is surprised but then she relaxes into me. Then she lays her head on my chest.

" I missed you so much, I miss having you by my side. Seeing you every day and not knowing how you are, scared me." She lifts her head up and looked at me.

"I'm here now anywhere. They would have had to really do some damage in order to kill me. I knew you would find me it was just a matter of having patience."

That night her family invited me to dinner before I have to make the journey back to my pack in the morning. It takes me about 6 hours to get there, but this time I won't be making the journey alone, because Amber is coming with me my father really wants to meet her and my mother can not wait to go shopping with her, seeing as she will be her future daughter-in-law. I am surprised that Amber wanted to come with me after all she just got released from the hospital and the doctor did tell her to rest and relax. I should have known that since Amber wants to put on a brave face and not act like everything's okay that she would ignore the doctor's orders and would want to come anyway. It's sweet but considering everything she went through for the past few days she needs to stay here so that she can rest, she can meet my family anytime.

Her mother finds me in the living room watching a movie while Amber is upstairs resting, as she should be, her mother if she can talk to me and it seems like this is something serious.

"So, Deon how long have you known my daughter?"

"Since she arrived at training camp."

"Oh okay so about a month, that's good. Have you two.....?" Picking up on a hint, I quickly answer.

"No, no we haven't, I mean we are teacher and student at the training camp and things would get messy if the camp found out that we are mates."

"But you are an Alpha and she is an Alpha's daughter so, how are things get messy, as you say?"

"The training camp is basically where humans desire and in order to keep our cover we have to stay as teacher and student while we're at the camp but when we're not at the camp it's fine."

"Oh, ok. So, you live by yourself?"

"Yes, well not here. I have an apartment near the camp. My family does have their own house though. Then when Amber and I marry, we will have our own house."

"I understand that you are going back to your pack in the morning, and Amber wants to come with you please just take care of her. I know the doctor told her to rest and relax but, knowing a character she's not going to do that. When someone in your pack talks bad about her, I'd want you to defend her, just like she would defend you if someone in this pack talks bad about you." We turn around to hear footsteps and see Amber coming down the stairs.

"Well, I'm all packed." She comes to my side. "I can't wait to meet your family and the pack hey, what was they think of me, what would they say?"

" They will love you, besides you already met some of my pack members in class at the camp, and they love you. Now you just have to meet the rest of them and I'm sure they will love you as well, my pack has been waiting for their Luna to appear and after the Heartbreak of my first Luna they are excited about you."

"Let's hope that you're right, the last thing I need is for them not to like me. Imagine how awkward that would be, me being the mother of the pack and my own pack doesn't even like me."

"Babe, you are worrying for nothing. They will love you just like I love you and besides if anyone disrespects you you know I have your back always and forever."

"And I have yours." She turns to me and hugs me oh, it feels so warm and so inviting. Luna Richards turns her head towards the kitchen as the timer goes off for her pie that's in the oven.

"Dinner is ready, let's eat besides you and Amber have a long journey to your pack tomorrow."

The next morning, Amber is already up in the gym training as I watch her kick the bag repeatedly. I yell out to her over the music playing on the speakers.

I take out my phone and notice that it's my Dad, Amber turns off the music and walks towards me.

"Deon, I need you to come home, the council is coming and they want to speak with you."

"I'm coming back today and Amber is coming along too." I can tell Dad wants to protest but, I stop him before he can. "Before you say it, I've already tried to talk her out of it, but she is determined to come." The line goes silent.

"Shelia is back."
