The Rare and Rejected Mate Chapter 8

A few hours later we are on a plane back home. D is so anxious and wants to go to him so bad, I can't blame her though after all when I found out Ryann was shot, (my first mate), I rushed to his side but, it was too late, I didn't even get to say goodbye.

"D, it's going to be ok, Kevin is a fighter, I'm sure he'll pull through."

"I know I shouldn't feel like this when he rejected me but, I still feel connected to him somehow."

"That's the power of the bond." My Dad looks worried about how D will react, she keeps asking id=f she would want to wait a few days before seeing him. "I can't wait to eat Mom's apple pie again, I've been missing it ever since we left."

"D," Dad starts to speak. "Do you think you care to help Kevin, not only with recovery but, the mate bond? When the council decided that he should step down from future Alpha, he was so upset."

"Not to mention, this is your pack to run. My placeis beside Deon." Dad's ears perked up.

"Who is this Deon person?"

"Alpha Elliot."

"Alpha Elliot, wow they have produced some of the best warriors so, when do we meet him?"

"Winter break is nearly here, I'll bring him then."

I reach for my phone is my pocket and read the name, Deon texted me.

"How's the plane?"

"It's not bad, the food is good here in first class."

"How's Diamond holding up?"

"She's still worried she stopped crying after we left the training grounds but, started again once we boarded the plane................ My Dad knows."

"About me?"

"Yea, he wants to meet you when we have winter break, if you don't want to I understand."

"No, I'm fine, and besides I was going to come to you on a date during the holidays."

"Sounds good to me. I miss you, Deon.

"I do too Amber. I gotta go, my next class is here, I'll call you later."

Two naps and a few songs later we arrive at the house, where my Mom is out on the porch coming down as we approach the driveway.

"Let me hug my baby, awwwww I have missed you." Mom hugs me and then a sobbing D, who is just itching to see Kevin. I think Mom notices and she and Dad tell us to take the car and go see him.

We walk into the infirmary, not knowing what we will see, we turn a corner and go to the V.I.P. section of the infirmary, and there he is. He is all bandaged up with his right leg in a cast elevated by a metal holder of some sort. The doctor then pulls me aside and tells me all the injuries he has and it's a lot. He broke his wrist, he fractured his nose, broke his femur, his ribs were bruised so bad causing one to break off and puncture his appendix and poked a hole in his spleen. His face was half bloody, there were three of his teeth on the tray under the microscope where the nurse was taking a look at the teeth to see if they could be saved. D walks over to him and breaks down instantly. Maybe D can convince him, while Kevin recovers because I was not made to be Alpha. I mean yes I am an Alpha's daughter but, I feel like my brother would be more befitting of the role.

"Where is Jen?" Dad rolls his eyes.

"I'll call her." I don't care if she is here or not but, she is Kevin's girlfriend so, she ought to be here.

"Hello, Jen"

"Amber, what do you want, come to gloat about Kevin and I breaking up?" I'm stunned, did she just say.

"You broke up?"

He didn't tell you, well now you can celebrate but, I'm still gonna annoy you at college." I'm debating whether to tell her I'm not there for her to annoy me, but instead, I just say, ok and hang up on her.

I walk back into the room and D grabs my hand.

"Ames, what happened she should be here."

"Jen's not coming."

"They broke up.

A few days later Jen still hasn't come around and I like it, Deon texts and calls me every day, D is taking care of Kevin until he gets better and we have to go back but, the good thing is the training camp has set up a virtual camp for D and I until we get back. D and I spare every morning and then do our studies then we have lunch spare again and then do pack duties.

"Hey Kevin, how's my brother?" I go into his room and sit on his bed.

"I'm good."

"So, about this Alpha thing, are you going to make D your mate finally?"

"Well, last night we did kiss and the sparks were there, it felt good to be with her."

"So, I don't have to be Alpha female?"

"I will tell the council to let you be free and I can become Alpha and Diamond shall become my Luna."

"Good because I'm going to become Luna."

"Luna, but Diamond is my Luna."

"Are you this stupid, no I mean, I found my mate?" His eyes go wide. "I found my mate, his name is Deon Elliot."

"You mean Alpha Elliot's son, he is like the strongest Alpha there is. How'd you end up with him?

" I guess the moon goddess rewarded my hard work or just because she thinks that I'm a good fit for him and his pack."

"So please tell me that you are officially done with Jen so that you can finally take back the alpha title and have D, as your mate and Luna."

"Yes, I am. You were right, Jen was cheating on me I just was too gullible to believe all her lies............. Can I be honest with you, part of me didn't want a mate, part of me was scared that I would be tied down with just of random mate and everything will go wrong and I would end up regretting it for the rest of my life but these past few days that Diamond has been taking care of me has been wonderful. I'm hoping to get diamond to forgive me and possibly take back my rejection." Tears are running down my face and joy is in my heart right now and my wolf is so happy because now that means I can be the Luna that I was meant to be. " Amber, why are you crying if I said something wrong I'm sorry oh, but then again I don't know what I said."

" I'm just happy that you are finally ready to become the alpha you were destined to be and to have my best friend by your side as this packs Luna and your Luna and also your mate to where you will create a wonderful life together and many many pups, that I'm happy for you and D." D knocks on the door and comes into his room to serve him some soup that my mother has made she sat down on his bed table and prepares to feed him, they really look cute together. I'm so glad that he finally got rid of Jen and he finally saw that she was bad news. She hasn't called ever since our little chat in the Infirmary nor has she tried to visit but I don't think this is the last of her. I have seen many of her friends at the coffee shop that I go to to get my family's order in the morning, and they have been gossiping and I know that Jen knows that I'm back but, she does not know about Kevin being hurt. Now I would like to keep it that way for if she did know I think that she would try to use her ways to get back with him.

D look down at the phone on the nightstand and her face turns from a happy one to assess our one and then she leaves the room

Amber's P.O.V.

"D, what's wrong?" I look down at the phone and see the name, Jen on the screen, she must have found out about the accident and wanted to use that as her way of getting back with Kevin. I take the phone and turn it off. I go to find D and my parents are with her outside on the front porch with an upset Jen.

"What do you want?"

"To see my boyfriend," D growls at her, I touch her hand and she calms down a little. I whisper in her ear and she leaves back in the house.

"You broke up with him, he is not your priority anymore. My brother has his mate and they will be happy together running this pack, so you can go back to your little boy toy and leave my brother alone. Besides, I wouldn't let you get in between him and the title."

"What would you know, my love is alive, thankfully unlike yours." At that moment all I see is red and before you know it my Dad nods and my claws are pinning her down on the ground. I see out the corner of my eye, D has wheeled Kevin out on the porch for some fresh air.

"I SHOULD JUST KILL YOU RIGHT HERE AND NOW BUT, I WON'T. BUT THIS IS THE LAST TIME YOU DISRESPECT ME OR ANYONE I CARE ABOUT OR I RIP THAT PRETTY LITTLE VOICE BOX YOU HAVE OUT OF YOUR THROAT, UNDERSTAND AND THAT'S NOT A THREAT, ITS A PROMISE." I let my grip go and walk away from her and shift. I need a run, if not then I'd be tempted to actually kill her.

I hear Deon's voice in my head telling me to calm down, the next thing you know, he is calling me to video chat.

"Hi."

"How are you?"

"I'm good, classes are brutal though, I miss you."

"I know, I'll be back soon though."

"My wolf, sensed something was wrong, is everything ok?"

"My brother's ex-girlfriend came back and tried to win him back and in the process, she insulted me, like she always does."

"Well, what did she say?"

"I'll tell you when I see you, it's too painful over the phone."

"I understand, so have you and Diamond been keeping up with your studies?"

"Every day, especially now for D, she's going to become Luna of the pack. My brother has broken it off with that girl and now he is thinking of accepting D as his mate."

"That's great so, you can become my Luna."

"I can't wait, but will your pack like me?"

"They already do, my Dad has told them about you and my Mom can't wait to take you shopping."

My family wants to meet you over the winter break if possible, only if you are okay with that."

"I would love to meet my wife's family."

"Wife?"

"I mean, one day we will get married and you'll be my wife and I'll be your husband."

"I like the sound of that."

"I gotta go, the last class is starting, I'll call you later."

"I guess It's time to head back," I tell my wolf and we turn to run back, but it's gotten so dark that I can't find my way back, and then.......

"Why are we doing this again?" I hear out of the sack I have on my head......wait.....why is this sack on my head?

"We need to get that wolf." Jen, I knew she would do this, I can't believe she stoop this low, and wait are they talking about D, I need to mind-link Dad and tell him this. Wait a minute, that's weird I can't mind-link anyone or reach out to my wolf and I left my cellphone home. What do they want with me? I am going to try to stay as still as possible, they must have injected me with wolfsbane to suppress my wolf, little do they know I can easily be well again in a matter of hours.

"We need to get that blue diamondback wolf, she'll try to create peace in all the realms as she grows in power."

"Her name is Diamond and she is my ex's mate."

"Oh, so trouble in paradise?" One of the guys asks.

"Is that the guy who came up to us at the restaurant?" A third voice speaks, he sounds so familiar as if we met before. He's part of that group of rogues who tried to start the crap about destroying peace before. The van, car, or whatever we are in stops and they lift me up and carry me inside a building.
