Fell In Love With My Roomy Chapter 122

The moment is completely ruined when I hear a loud knock on the door, and Kent freezes as I pull the blankets over our bodies.

"Guys! We discussed this, no loud noises while Kyle and I are here, it's inappropriate!" Mark's voice comes from the other side, and my face turns red with embarrassment.

"If you don't like it, leave!" Kent shouts back. "You don't seem to mind when your headboard hits the wall and the noise when you bring your girls over!"

"You all don't know those girls, it's disgusting!" He shouts.

"I-I'm sorry, Mark!" I respond, wishing I could disappear. "I thought you were in class!"

"Just please don't do that again!" He calls and walks back down the hall while I bury my face in the mattress.

"Kill me," I mutter. "Please, just kill me."

"It's not that bad," he whispers, and I feel a sense of dread inside me.

"I didn't think anyone was home."

"Me neither," he chuckles. "It was just a sound or two; you were in the middle of it."

I understand Mark's discomfort; it was pretty awkward to hear... that, even if it's not with your friends.

"Don't mention the word 'moan' again, or I'll strangle you," I warn, without lifting my face from the mattress.

"Now I get what you meant by 'mean Juls!'" He teases, and I shove his arm without looking. "Want to get dressed, and I'll take us to a private place-"

"You're not helping," I tell him, turning to look at him, and he laughs.

"Fine, another time," he sighs. "I thought you might be a little... you know."

"I am, but trust me, that was a massive turn-off," I mutter, sitting up and grabbing my phone from my nightstand to start scrolling through it. Then, I feel a sweet kiss on my cheek, making me shiver.

"Don't be upset," he whispers, and I sigh, turning off my phone and snuggling into his chest. "I'm sure he'll forget about it, and Mark isn't in a position to judge."

"No kidding," I snort, and he runs his hand down my back. "At least we're making progress in getting him to tolerate us, that's a good thing."

"True," he sighs. "I never want to leave this bed with you, Juls."

"We do it every other morning," I shrug, and he laughs.

"You're extra cute this morning," he suggests, making me roll my eyes. "What if we did the Starbucks thing before my class? That way, we could actually chat before it and everything?"

"Okay," I smile, giving him a quick kiss and hopping out of bed. "What's your coffee choice? Jeans? Cargo pants? Which sweater do you like?"

"I love you," he whispers, and I feel my cheeks flush. I hurry over to him and easily press my lips to his.

"I love you too," I respond, "But seriously, jeans? Loose ones?"

"Wear whatever you want, heck, go like that," he says, eyeing my baggy t-shirt and bare legs. "That's what says 'coffee' to me."

"I think you're kidding," I say sweetly, making him chuckle. "Now get up and get dressed so we can go."

"Could you please relax?" Kent asks as I toss my skirt onto the floor, standing in a thong while I get out a pair of loose dark jeans.

"I am calm," I mumble unconvincingly. Kent could clearly see my anxiety at its peak right now; I was anxious, stressed, and nervous. I hadn't eaten because I felt so sick to my stomach.

I had changed my clothes several times, put my hair up and down, gone through my drawers for other choices. Ultimately, I settled on a black tank, black jeans, and a pair of sneakers, opting for a casual and friendly look.

"Baby, you're overthinking this," he sighs. "We'll just say it, and that'll be it."

"I know."

"So then, what's bothering you?" He asks, and I sigh, shaking my head.

"The last time I saw these people was months ago," I whisper. "This is a big change from the last time they saw me, and I don't know what to say about it."

He sighs, and I bite my lip, realizing I'm overly anxious. I'm overthinking everything and projecting worries about people I don't even like rejecting our relationship.

"I'm sorry," I sigh, shaking off the moment and stepping into my jeans. "I know I'm spiraling, and that's not fair to you."

Kent is sitting on my bed, observing the chaos that's been happening. His expression softens a bit, and he gives me a half-smile.

"Come over here," he says, nodding toward himself. I chew on the inside of my cheek and walk over silently, zipping up my jeans as I go. When I stop in front of him, he sighs. "Is this not what you want right now?" He asks quietly, reaching out and taking one of my hands. "No, it is."

"Because I don't want you to be upset."

"I'm not, I promise," I whisper, and he nods. "I guess I'm still trying not to care about what other people think. I'm also trying to stop worrying if people will be mad at me all the time. I guess I just feel like I've ruined this friend group you all had by just being myself."

"You definitely didn't," he chuckles. "You gave us all a reason to stop hanging out with Chase and stop going to parties with Piper. Our friend group has been messed up for years now, there's a lot of dead weight in it. If I have to choose between the way things used to be and you, you know I'm picking you, just like Mark, Kyle, and Abby would."

I nod quietly, and he runs his thumbs over the backs of my hands, helping to calm my worries.

"You're one of the most important people in my life," he says softly, and I smile.

"You're mine," I whisper, making him smile in return. "I'm just a little stressed about this, not because I don't trust our relationship, but because I don't need anyone else giving us dirty looks."

"Let them," he insists. "If they want to criticize us, that's their problem. I'll take you out instead, and we can take shots if things go sideways."

His hands grasp my waist, and I wrap my arms around him, standing between his legs. I need to remember that Kent has never done this before. I'm the only girl he's ever committed to, and he loves me. It's not up to everyone else to accept it; it's up to me to embrace it.

"Ready?" He asks, and I nod, leaning down to give him a quick kiss. "Yeah."

"Then let me order the Uber, and we'll go; it's that simple." I nod, and he kisses my cheek before going across the hall to his room. I put on my sneakers.

He returns a moment later with a jacket, and I grin, reaching my hands out for his. "It's three minutes away. Do you need anything before we go?"

"Can you give me three of your beers?" I ask quietly as he retrieves his case from the kitchen fridge.

"Three?" He gapes, and I roll my eyes. "Why not just take my kidney, Juls?"

"So, that's a yes?"

"Yes," he sighs, and I grin, putting on my coat. "You got me." He mumbles, kissing my temple as he passes to get his shoes on as well.

Soon, the car arrives, and I smile, feeling my nerves and anxiety being replaced by excitement. Piper's head is going to explode.

We pull up outside Abby's place. From what I know, things have been incredibly tense in there since Chase kissed me. They've only recently become friends again, and this is the first party they've thrown in months. There's a flashing light coming from the windows as we pull up, and the driver waves as we step out.

"Are you ready?" He asks quietly, and I nod, squeezing his hand tightly. "I'm ready."

He leads us up a few steps, a case of beer in one hand, his other hand holding mine firmly. I grab the doorknob, and he gives me a reassuring smile, one that tells me he'll be there for me and not to worry.

The door swings open, and I press my lips together, stepping inside with him. The living room is packed with people dancing. I don't recognize anyone in there, but I guess everybody knows somebody at parties.

"Kitchen!" he shouts over the music, and I nod, feeling him lead me through the house.

There was something about this that felt like coming full circle. This was the same party where we decided we couldn't stand each other just a few months ago. Now, we were back as a couple.

We step into the kitchen, and I see my roommates and Abby chatting by the fridge. "Oh my god, it's my new favorite power couple!" Abby squeals, rushing over to hug me, and I roll my eyes. "I think the ship name 'Wannie' suits you, what do you think?"

"Abby," Kent mutters, rolling his eyes and brushing past her to get to the fridge. "You need to calm down."

"Oh, what? I've been waiting for this for months, I'm allowed to be happy for you," she defends, hands on her hips.

"Months?" he asks, furrowing his brows, and I clear my throat.

"Yeah! Juls told me she liked you on Halloween, and I knew you liked her."

"Okay!" I interject, clapping my hands. "Let's all get a drink, a shot even!"

Abby rolls her eyes but still plays the role of a good host, searching for a vodka bottle in the cupboard.

"What's she talking about?" Kent whispers, moving his hand up my back to my shoulder.

"Nothing, I'll tell you at home," I whisper back, and he smirks, kissing my temple and walking over to the fridge. Mark's fake gagging sounds disrupt the moment, and I roll my eyes.

"Eventually, you're going to get used to it," I argue.

"Nope, not happening, it's weird every single time," he insists, taking a swig from his beer.

"I thought you were okay with this now."

"I'm okay with it, but it's still weird and extremely strange," he answers, which makes Kent laugh as he retrieves two beers from the fridge. "What exactly brought all this on, Kent? I've never seen you date."

He exaggerates the word "date," and I scoff, accepting the beer from Kent, who returns to his spot beside me.

"No offense, Mark, but I'm not going to spill my feelings in Abby's kitchen," Kent says, rolling his eyes. "I like Juls, that's all there is to it."

"Oh my god, it gets cuter every time!" Abby squeals, passing out shots, and both of us roll our eyes. "This is the best-"

"Abby," I sigh, and she nods.

"Sorry, just a little tipsy," she says apologetically, and I smile in return, accepting the shot glass from her. We all clink the glasses together and down the shots. Abby collects the empty cups, and I feel Kent's hand rest on my hip.

Kent, Kyle, and Mark then dive into a conversation about the Superbowl playoffs, but I zone out, not caring at all. Throughout the conversation, Kent's thumb skates over the bare skin on my side, and his hand squeezes my hip. My mind turns to mush while it happens, and I enjoy every single second of it.

I hear commotion in the living room, and the hair on my neck stands up as my brain recognizes a high-pitched voice.

The clicking of high heels on the floor makes me tense up, feeling anxious. I had barely seen Piper since Kent and I returned from New York. We were all too busy during the exam period, then there was Christmas break, and I left for a month. I'd only heard her in the apartment once while I was studying in December, but Mark managed to get rid of her quickly.

She enters the kitchen with her entourage, three other girls who all resemble Piper, from their fake eyelashes to their outfits. Piper is in a bright blue cut-out dress and a pair of ankle-breaking strappy heels. She looks like a celebrity, her hair perfectly styled, makeup applied flawlessly, and unnaturally white teeth.

"Kent!" She exclaims, looking excited, and I gulp as her eyes shift to me. "And Juls," she says with a condescending tone. "I almost forgot you existed; I haven't seen you in months." She sighs, shaking her head with a spiteful smile. "I thought you transferred to Northwestern."

"You can't shake me off that quickly," I say with a shrug, and she smirks.

However, her confidence vanishes almost immediately when she notices Kent's hand on my waist. I suppose she had been too preoccupied with being unpleasant to take in the full picture.

I start to feel nervous and edge closer to Kent, not because she's angry or faking a smile. It's because she just laughs, her eyes taking on a strange look, and I realize right then and there that she's not giving up without a fight.
