Fell In Love With My Roomy Chapter 94

"Juls, how did Thanksgiving go?" Mark asks from the couch, and my cheeks start to flush. It's Tuesday night, and I'm preparing dinner before heading to work. Everyone's back from vacation, exams are looming, and I'm eager to wrap up the term.

"It went well," I reply, my lips pressed together, as I slice a tomato for a quick salad, reminiscing about the good times from the past.

"Oh my god, look at that face!" Kyle teases. "What's going on?"

"Nothing," I shrug.

In reality, a lot is going on. Kent is eager to expedite our transition to dating. He's been working with a tech guy he found earlier today, explaining his plan and how it should work. If everything goes according to plan, we should be good to go once exams are over.

This morning, Doctor Elliot, my backup interviewer, didn't seem too thrilled about meeting me at first. But after we talked for an extra hour due to his interest in my research, my perspective shifted. He kept apologizing for the scheduling hiccup, but in a way, it was that hiccup that allowed Kent and me to figure out our feelings for each other.

He mentioned that I'd find out if I've been selected by the end of my exams. Things were looking up in that regard as well.

The most challenging part of being here right now is that I'm constantly yearning to be with Kent. I want to kiss him and be close to him. I know it affects him too, but we're trying to be considerate, especially when we're around others, to avoid making things complicated.

But I'm on edge, worrying I might get caught before we're ready. I'm unsure how my roommates would react, not just regarding the video, but also our feelings for each other.

"Hey," Kent's voice enters the living room. "What's going on?"

"This weekend, I think Juls did something interesting," Kyle insists. "Every time we mention Thanksgiving, her face turns red."

"She does?" Kent asks, and I blush again as I turn away from his gaze. It's challenging; we can't keep this up for more than two weeks.

"Kyle thinks that," I simply shrug and clear my throat, placing my cutting board and knife in the dishwasher. I drizzle a bit of dressing over my salad, and at last, the three of them seem to leave me be.

"Can you believe the first term of the fourth year is nearly over?" Mark says with a sigh. "That's crazy."

"True," I respond with a small shrug, and Kyle powers up the TV and hands Mark a controller. They're about to embark on a lengthy video game session. It's the final week of classes before exams, and they don't have much else to occupy their time.

"When do you have work, Juls?" Mark inquires.

"In about half an hour."

"I'll give you a ride," Kent offers. He's leaning against the peninsula just a few feet away, giving me a case of the chills. Mark and Kyle seem preoccupied and haven't noticed, or Kent offered this before.

"It's not necessary," I shrug. "I've walked there before."

"I had planned to hit the gym around that time," Kent shrugs. "Just let me know when you want to leave, okay?"

I don't say anything, but he smiles and heads back to the living room. I let out a heavy sigh as I watch him go. This is tough, God.

"What's up?" Abby walks in with a big smile on her face. I hadn't seen much of her before she left, and I know she just returned from the airport this morning.

"Hi," everyone chimes in at once, and she hurries over to me.

"Juls!" She beams and gives me a big hug. I return the smile. "Oh my god, I missed you!"

"Me too. I missed you," I laugh, carefully placing my salad on the table to prevent any mishaps. "How was your weekend?"

"It was great," she answers, taking a step back. "It was so nice to see everyone."

"Good," I shrug, picking up my salad once more.

"How did yours go?" She asks eagerly, and I attempt to respond. But I feel my cheeks flush, and a smile creeps onto my face.

"It was nice," I tell her, raising my eyebrows.

"Oh my god," she exclaims, crossing her arms. When I look at her, I arch an eyebrow. "You definitely had sex this weekend."

"What?" I ask, feeling the color drain from my face. Mark and Kyle have stopped playing their video game and are now paying attention to our conversation. "No, I didn't."

"Yes, you did, and you can tell. You're all cheerful and giddy, you totally did it! Who was it?" She playfully hits my arm and asks, "Spill!"

Damn her. How did she figure that out so quickly?

"You had sex?" Mark laughs, looking puzzled. I raise an eyebrow.

"No," I reply quickly, recalling that Kent was just here. "But why is that so funny?"

"Juls, we love you, but come on!" I roll my eyes as Abby giggles. "But this is good. This is your time to have fun. Don't wait for summer; have a hot-girl winter."

"You guys are making way too much of this," I shake my head and sigh. "I didn't do it; it never happened. I just spent a regular Thanksgiving weekend with my family. There was no sex."

"I don't buy it, but that's okay," I roll my eyes as Abby chuckles. "So, what did you do over the weekend?"

"I just got back from a break and went home. Mom cooked dinner, and it was great. That's about it," I shrug, trying to act like everything's normal.

I glance over at Kent, who's trying not to laugh as Abby questions him. But I know it's better to say I didn't do it than to invent a story about sleeping with someone else.

After dinner, I leave Abby with the guys while I change into my swimsuit and gather my things. I check that everything's in my bag; I have a habit of getting ready while walking around in just my swimsuit, and then I'll put on additional clothing right before heading to the pool.

When I hear a knock on the door, I open it, expecting to see Abby. But to my surprise, it's Kent. I gasp and stand up straight, stiff as a board.

"Is it okay to come in?"

"Could you wait a moment? I'm in my swimsuit," I mutter something, holding the door slightly ajar. He rolls his eyes.

Nevertheless, he enters and shuts the door. I roll my eyes and pick up my fallen sweatpants from the floor.

"Relax, I've seen less of you," he says with a shrug, leaning against my desk.

"You shouldn't be here; we could get in trouble."

"Who's to know? Nothing suspicious," he reassures me. "Besides, it won't matter much for long."

I sigh, zip up my bag, and put on a hoodie, sneakers, and my bag. Then, I grab a coat for the drive since winter is almost here, and snow will likely fall soon.

"Ready?" I ask, and he nods.

A few moments later, I follow him down the hallway, my heart racing. I truly want to be with him, and things have been looking up after our recent conversation. I need to find a way to be alone with him, as I enjoy our time together.

We exit the building and make our way to his car. Once inside, I let out a sigh and feel my tension ebb away. He pulls out of the driveway, and when I glance at him, he's watching me from the driver's seat.

"You handled that sex interrogation well. I know Abby can be relentless with her questions," he remarks.

"Deny, deny, deny," I concur.

"When do you finish for the night?"

"Ten," I reply, and he nods.

"I'll pick you up when I get back," he says quietly. "The nights are getting darker and colder, and the sidewalks are starting to freeze. I'll take you home."

"Thanks," I smile, feeling a bit relieved.
