Fighting Spirit Series Chapter 59: Unlocking the Past
**Mei:**
“WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!” I shouted into the darkness. A low hissing laugh crescendoed through the stillness as Moon stepped forward.
“You dearie! have a pure fighting spirit. I like that about you.” Moon looked down at me with her large jade green eyes. I felt happy to see her, and so proud.
“You’re even better looking up close.” I laughed staring at her silvery fur with patches of lean muscle, long clawed fingers, and strong pawed feet. Her razor-sharp teeth radiated against the darkness, almost ghost-like.
“Well thanks.” Moon laughed. Kyou’s beautiful gray blue eyes glowed in the shadows.
“You stood your ground proudly, that’s why we stepped forward cutting his connection.” Moon hissed looking around the darkness snickering.
“Victor cannot connect, so we can talk freely.” Moon laughed pacing slowly. Kyou’s eyes glowed in the shadows watching with great pride.
“Okay, what the hell is going on?” I huffed annoyed placing my hands on my head rolling my neck.
“Two things: One! You proudly and sternly dealt with a traitor that not only put you and the pups in danger, but the entire clan. Two! Even in this dream state coma, you still stood proudly to defend your clan. For any lycan, that is our highest honor. We do not think of it as death, but rebirth. Every lycan has a path, and even though your great-grandmother and great-uncle suffered, they knew the truth. They knew that you and Lexi would take on the Spirit Wolf and finish this fucked up situation.” Moon growled lowly as she looked down at me.
“Coma?” I asked confused.
“You have been in a dream state coma for two days after you sentenced Dean.” Moon snarled at the mentioning of Dean’s name. I could feel the anger bubbling, but it is done.
“It hurt to know that someone close could betray us so easy.” I started feeling heavy like the emotional barrier was breaking.
Moon, Kyou, and I started howling, crying as memories of the past flooded the darkness. Memories of every Spirit Wolf, past and present, filled with happiness, joy, sadness, sorrow of loss, rage, and betrayal.
Bright white light flooded the darkness as I slipped into an emotional sleep.
“Sleep Mei. We will keep Victor away.” Moon whispered as the darkness crept in.
**Lexi: **
Sitting silently in the corner watching the machines show steady rhythms of Mei and the pups vitals, weighed heavily on my chest. Milly and Riley have been taking care of Mei in her coma state, washing her body down and applying lotion to her skin.
In two days, her bump has gotten larger and more active. Watching the little movements of the pups against her stomach has been very conflicting in emotions.
I installed an open line camera so Jack has a visual and audio at all times. He has been contacting every foreign connection he has to find Victor or Aeros with next to no luck.
Argo and Aki have been extremely volatile since Mei slipped into her coma. Argo can feel Moon faintly but they keep in the shadows watching and listening.
Small whimpers drew me out of my thoughts. Mei was crying heavily, tears streaming down her cheeks as the monitors started beeping faster.
The door burst open, Jack rushing to Mei’s side stroking her face wiping away the tears flowing freely from her eyes.
“Mei Baby. I am here. Wake-up.” He whispered against her cheek as he kissed it gently stroking her hair.
I placed my hand on top of Mei’s feeling a surge of intense emotions. I felt a heavy weight against my chest as tears flowed violently down my cheeks.
Argo and Aki started howling, crying as a flood of memories rushed through my mind.
“Lexi!” Jack yelled pulling me from the flood of memories.
Taking a seat in the gray suede chair that was pulled to the side of the bed. Dropping my head into my hands, sobbing violently as the images of previous Spirit Wolves took control of my thoughts.
“Lexi what’s happening?” Milly asked grabbing my hand to comfort me.
“I can see them. Our ancestors, their memories.” I huffed in between sobs.
“Hold her hand and concentrate on connecting to her.”
Argo commanded.
I leaned forward grabbing Mei’s hand, placing my head gently against the bed focusing on our connection.
Powerful energy surging through our link as I drifted into darkness. Calmness enveloping my body. I can feel Mei but cannot see shit.
“MEI!” I shouted into the darkness listening closely. Movement to my right, pulled my attention towards large gray blue eyes piercing through the dark veil of blackness.
“Lexi?” A voice hummed out.
“Kyou?” I asked. Watching as the eyes grew closer.
“Focus on Mei.” Kyou commanded as her eyes began to glow silver.
Heartbeats drew my attention, focusing on the rhythm of the beats. Cherry Blossoms and vanilla filled my senses as I drew closer to the heartbeats. Moon was crouched down stroking Mei’s cheek with her long, clawed fingers humming gently.
“Moon what’s happening?” I asked approaching Mei sleeping in Moon’s lap.
“Victor tried manipulating her with visions of Jack dying.” Moon hissed looking at me with her radiating jade green eyes.
“How do we get her out of this dream coma?” I asked running my finger over her cheek feeling her stir gently at my touch.
“She is mentally exhausted, so her body is protecting itself.” Moon huffed looking down at her.
“Kyou is currently blocking Victor from connecting to her in this state, but she is strong and with you near her, you both are stronger.” She replied stroking Mei’s head.
An image of a warm fluffy bed and beautiful forest canopy painted in my thoughts as the darkness transformed into the image. I could see Kyou pacing around us; Mei was laying in the bed as the soft forest breeze brushed across my exposed skin. Mei was humming in her sleep as she turned slightly in the giant white bedspread.
“Very nice Lexi.” Kyou hummed in her singsong voice.
“This will make her more comfortable.” Moon laughed as she stood up shaking out her body.
“You can wake-up Lexi, just stay close to her and have Jack continue to talk to her. We can hear him and feel his touches.” Kyou said resting her head on the edge of the bed.
I gave them a slight nod and felt my body pull back from Mei sleeping in the forest canopy covered bed. The silent humming of machines drew my eyelids open as I slowly raised my head staring at a concerned Jack, Milly, and Riley.
