Fighting Spirit Series Chapter 65: Puppies!
**Mei: **
Izzy ‘poofed’ us to the Clinic, finding Amelia rushing into the back room that she setup for Li to deliver in.
“ROGER!” Amelia yelled as we all rushed into the room. Li was struggling, eight little pups squeaked, and cried fumbling to get to a teat to suckle.
“Amelia?” Izzy said as we dropped down on our knees, prepping warm water and blankets to clean up the pups.
“Mei, see if you can calm Li, she is struggling, so she is stressing. I don’t want to lose any of them.” Amelia said as I slid Li’s head onto my lap, rubbing behind her ear, cooing, and talking to her.
Mother-to-mother. Li nudged her snout against my stomach, licking it gently as she whimpered with the next puppy.
“Perfect. Three more to go.” Amelia smiled as Li went to work delivering the last three pups.
The last one surprising us being all white with a black diamond on its forehead.
“Oh, my Goddess! Look how cute they are.” Izzy cooed watching as the pups found teats to suckle. Li huffed as I rubbed her ears, leaning against the wall watching as the pups slowly fell asleep from milk-induced comas.
The white one nestling into the side of my leg, where Li laid.
“Oh, he likes you.” Roger said pointing at the little white ball curled up, snoring lightly.
“How are they?” Jack walked in quietly with Lui at his side, walking over sniffing the puppies laying down behind Li’s tired body.
“Twelve healthy puppies, eight boys, four girls, and this little guy was a surprise for sure.” I said pointing to the little white ball nestled into my leg, smiling brightly at Jack’s radiating blue eyes. Oh, I melted in my panties.
“What should we name him?” Jack asked smiling at me brightly. I get to name him, my first puppy I get to name.
I could feel a whirlwind of emotions rolling, stirring deeply as I looked into his bright blue eyes. The girls chattering in my head, coming to an agreement.
“Theos.” I said looking down at him running a finger gently down his spine watching as he stretched his cute little white body out, exposing his pink belly.
“It means “God” in Latin.” Jack said starring at the cute little guy, looking up slightly with intense emotion.
“What do we name the others?” I asked looking at the puppy pile forming in the center of Li’s chest.
“Well, just so you know the remaining eleven have homes already and they will be named the day they are placed with their new families.” Roger smiled softly, mixing raw meat chunks with white powder.
“What’s the white powder?” I asked pointing at the bowl, arching a brow.
“It’s supplements to help with pregnancy and after birth.” Roger set the bowl down in front of Li, eagerly eating the nourishment.
“Speaking of which, since you are here now, let’s check you and the pups.” Amelia motioned as she stood up slowly, brushing out her wrinkled clothes.
Sliding Theos over to his siblings as I attempted to get up, realizing how much my belly had grown in these past two days. Jack laughed softly holding his hands out to help me up, feeling every muscle protest as it stretched and flexed.
Izzy followed us to the ultrasound room, while I positioned myself on the table. Jack rubbing my large stomach watching, feeling little movements against the stretched skin.
“Okay. Let us check these handsome boys. Shall we?” Amelia smiled pulling my shirt up over my stomach, squirting the cold ass gel over my skin. Two prominent heartbeats echoed in the room as the twins came into focus on the screen. “Look! They’re holding hands.” Izzy pointed at the screen smiling brightly, while Jack stared with bright eyes, smiling ear-to-ear.
“Just as I thought. You’re a month now, and they are the equivalent size of two and half months in wolf gestation.”
Amelia said measuring my stomach, taking down some notes.
“Start taking it easy this next month. You are going to double in size, so training, and shifting might be a little more taxing on your body. Keep taking your supplements also.” Amelia winked as she wiped the gel off my stomach, handing Jack the printout of the twins holding hands.
I sat there staring at my stomach, tracing gentle designs watching as little kicks and punches pushed against my fingertip. My chest becoming tight with emotions as tears flowed freely. Izzy grabbing my hand, rubbing my head gently.
“Mei Baby?” Jack asked softly leaning down to kiss my cheek, wiping the tears away.
“It will be okay.” He whispered in my ear, looking up at Izzy crying now.
“I don’t know what is wrong. I just started crying.” Cupping his cheek, tears flowing freely. Smiling softly at his loving eyes.
“Oh sweetheart. This is normal with pregnancy. Just don’t kill anyone when you get angry.” Izzy laughed looking over at Jack with a mischievous smile.
“Jack, she needs to rest and probably a hot shower to help relax her some.” Amelia said looking up from her worktable smiling brightly.
We both nodded as he helped me slide down from the table, walking hand in hand out the Clinic into the crisp bayou night air. Listening to the crickets serenade the night breeze as we walked silently back to the house. Saying a few good nights as we walked up the stairs to our room. Jack leading me to the bathroom, running a hot bath with vanilla and honey bath oils.
“You soak for a little, while I get the bed ready.” Jack kissed my head gently, helping me into the hot water.
Nodding my head as I laid back against the cool tub wall, feeling my muscles relax under the weightless hot water.
Gently nodding off into a relaxed sleep.
“Mei Baby?” Jack whispered caressing my cheek as I slowly opened my eyes seeing I was cradled in his lap, wrapped in a towel.
“Shit! I fell asleep in the tub.” Groaning out as I rubbed my face with a hand. Jack grabbed my hand kissing it gently as he laid us back in the bed. Pulling me into his chest, running his fingers through my hair gently.
“It’s been an eventful day, so you rest wherever you need too.” He kissed my forehead, looking at me with those bright blue eyes and sexy smile.
Nestling closer to his chest, listening to our heartbeats’ sync in rhythm as sleep took over. His warmth enveloping me in a delightful cocoon with fresh cedar and cinnamon.
