The next afternoon, after a relatively mild ball-busting by my Prez, I left the compound and headed to Remi's. I was surprised Crow hadn't sanctioned me or worse. I know I'd crossed the line breaking Vitaly's kneecap, but I couldn't honestly say I wouldn't do it again. And if Hatch hadn't stopped me, I can't honestly say I wouldn't have broken the other one. In the end, the Prez had issued me some grunt work the recruits usually did and left it at that. Flea's sister, Katie, had looked at my hand and deemed it was probably bruised, not broken, but suggested I get an x-ray to be sure. I decided I'd ice for a couple of days and go from there.

Now all I wanted was to bury my dick inside my woman again.

The fact I was still on a high from my morning with Remi was probably why I'd taken my punishment without complaint. I'd never met anyone like her and I couldn't wait to see her again…not just because of her fucking amazing body. I liked her. She was funny and smart, and didn't take shit from me.

I pulled up to her apartment building and removed my helmet as I walked up the stairs to her unit. Some creepy looking asshole was using a key to unlock her door.

"Hey!" I bellowed. "What the fuck are you doing?"

"Gotta clean out this unit," he said.

"That's my woman's unit, fuckhead. How about you check your notes?"

He pulled his phone out with a groan and checked the screen. "Your woman Remington Charles?"

"Yeah."

"She split, man."

"What do you mean?"

"She paid off her lease and told the manager to sell or donate whatever was left inside."

I scowled. What the fuck?

"Did she leave a forwarding address?"

"No," the guy said.

I gave him a chin lift and pulled my phone out, dialing Remi's number. It went straight to voicemail. "Rem, need you to call me back," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. "Some asshole's cleaning out your apartment."

I hung up and ten seconds later, my phone buzzed with a text from her.

Remi: It's okay, Merrick. I left. I'm sorry.

I turned on my heel and headed back to my bike, calling her again. When her voicemail answered, I swore. "Remington, what the fuck is going on? You need to call me. Just let me know where you are."

This time there was no return text, so I called my sister.

"Hey, big brother."

"Where's Remi?" I demanded.

"What do you mean?"

"She's gone."

"Gone where?"

I took a deep breath. "That's what I'm hoping you know."

"Wait, back up. I have no idea what you're talking about."

I filled her in on what I knew, and she let out a series of swear words I'd never heard from her before. "So, you didn't know?"

"No, I didn't fucking know," she snapped. "God, I'm so pissed right now."

"Picking up on that, sissy."

"You need to have Booker trace her ass and find out what the hell her problem is."

"Yeah, Gracie, I'm on it."

"Then you need to tie her to the bed or something."

I couldn't stop a laugh. "Sissy, I'm not tying her to the bed. Well, unless she asks me to."

"Then I will. Until she explains why the fuck she keeps running away."

I had a pretty good idea why she kept running away, but it was Remi's story to tell, so I stayed quiet. "I'm gonna let you go."

"Keep me posted."

"I will," I lied.

We rang off and I called Booker who started his trace. I headed back to my condo and threw my keys on the counter before pulling my phone out and checking the screen.

Nothing.

Fuck!

I tried her again, but got her voicemail, so I hung up and tried to figure out where she'd go. Only one place came to mind and that was 'home.' If her trust fund had been frozen, it was the logical conclusion.

And we had someone in common.

Sort of.

I pulled up my contacts and hit 'call.'

"Finch, brother," Alamo answered jovially. "How the fuck are ya?"

I'd gotten to know our Savannah chaptet Sergeant at Arms pretty well when I was working down there to help resolve a legal issue the Club had gotten pulled into. The trip had ended with my dick between Remi's legs, and it was unforgettable.

"I'm in a bind," I said.

"No shit?"

I filled him in on everything I knew about Remington's situation, keeping several things private for obvious reasons.

"Shit," Alamo breathed out. "Jazz knows Remi, I think. I'll talk to her."

"If she sees Remi, ask her not to say anything about me, yeah?"

"No problem, brother. Is Booker lookin' into her?"

"Yeah. Gotta get my eyes on her, though."

"I hear ya. Always room here if you need to do it in person."

I smiled. "Got a feeling that's gonna happen sooner than later."

"Figured," he said. "I'll talk to Jasmine and get back to you."

"Appreciate it."

"You need us to watch her?"

"Yeah, man, that'd be good."

"You got it."

Alamo hung up and I relaxed knowing my brothers would make sure she was safe until I could take over.
