"Okay," I said, dragging a hand over my beard. "I can help you find someone. I'll start asking around right away. I know some great players that I trust, but four days isn't much time to find someone and have them learn a full set."

"No, dummy," she said, with a laugh. "I was thinking of you."

"Me? You've gotta be fucking kidding."

"Why not you? You've got the chops and I know you'll have no problem learning her material in time. Plus, I really would feel better with another set of eyes on her. She recently hired a new security team but is still feeling vulnerable after everything that happened a few years back."

"I'm a forty-year-old biker. You really expect me to get up on stage with a bunch of young pop tarts and shake my ass along to prerecorded tracks?"

"It's not like that. No tracks, no dancers, and Melody's got seasoned pros in the band. Rod Archer on drums, Puddin' Daily on Bass—"

"Puddin's playing with her? No fucking way."

Harmony nodded. "She's working hard to change her image. Musically and personally. She's more focused and dedicated than I've ever seen."

I scrubbed a hand over the back of my neck. "Shit, I don't know, Harmony."

"I've already spoken with the label, and they've agreed to pay you thirty thousand for the tour."

I turned to Hatch. "What about the club? My promotion?"

I'd been working all year towards a promotion to Road Captain, and I wasn't about to let anything get in the way of that.

"I'm pretty sure the club can handle you being gone for a few months," Hatch said. "Besides, when are you ever gonna get the chance to be a rockstar again?"

"I don't know," I said reluctantly.

"I'll tell you what," Hatch said. "This wouldn't just be a favor to Harmony. You'd be doing me a favor, too. So, if you take the gig with Melody, the Road Captain's patch is yours."

I let out a heavy sigh. "When's the first show?"

"The tour starts on Friday at the Moda Center."

"Jesus," I hissed. "No fucking pressure."

"Forty thousand dollars," Harmony said.

"Shit, man. I'll strap on a fuckin' guitar and shake my ass for that," Hatch retorted.

"It's not about the money," I said.

"So, you'll do it for free?" Harmony asked.

"Not a fuckin' chance," I said.

"Then what is it, Train?"

"Harmony, give us a minute, will ya?" Hatch asked, inviting no argument from her.

She let out a long sigh, then stood and left the room, closing the door behind her.

"You can say no, brother," Hatch said.

"That's not true, and you know it. You saw her face."

"Yeah," Hatch grunted out. "The tour's only thirteen weeks."

"That's three months! I've never been on the road for more than ten days and that was almost a decade ago. I'm a studio rat, Hatch. When I'm not riding or with the club, I basically spend my nights in a submarine. I'm kind of a solitary guy, ya know?"

"You're the most musically gifted person I've ever known and if Harmony believes you're the right man for the gig, so do I. The Morgan sisters are a part of our extended family. Doom made Lyric a promise a long time ago that the Dogs would help keep her sisters safe."

I nodded. Doom is the VP of our Savannah chapter and had married Melody and Harmony's sister, Lyric, several years ago. He's one I respect highly, but even if I didn't, I respected Harmony, and that was all that counted right now.

I stood and pulled the door open. Harmony turned and gave me a look of hopeful anticipation.

"Come back in here," I said.

Harmony rushed back inside, wringing her hands as she took her seat again.

"Set up a meeting with Melody," I ground out.

Her eyes lit with hope. "You'll do it?"

"I'll talk to her then decide," I said. "For fifty thousand."

Harmony nodded. "Okay. We can do that."

"Fuck me," Hatch breathed out. "I picked the wrong profession."

"Ten-percent of that is goin' back to the club," I pointed out.

Hatch laughed. "You've always been a faithful tither."

He pulled open a drawer and pulled out a patch, sliding it across the desk.

It read, "ROAD CAPTAIN."

"Was gonna do this at Church on Wednesday, but I don't want to wait," Hatch said. "We'll celebrate proper once the tour is over."

"Works for me." I grinned as I took the patch and slid it into my pocket. "Thanks."

"I'll text you the time for tomorrow," Harmony said.

"Sounds good," I replied before adding. "Oh, I have one more condition."

"What's that?"

"I'm bringing my bike. There's no way in hell I'm going thirteen days, let alone thirteen weeks without riding."

"I'm sure the crew can find room for your bike in one of the equipment trucks," she replied before adding, "Come to think of it, I have a condition of my own."

"What would that be?"

"No sleeping with my sister."

"Come on," I said. "It's a job. Do you really think I'd put moves on the boss?"

"I totally trust you, and you're not her type anyway, but given her… romantic history, I had to say it out loud."

I fought back the urge to ask what she meant by me not being her sister's type, but simply smiled and stuck out my hand.

"I believe we have a deal."
