I walked into the clubhouse and headed to my dad's office. I was halfway there when I saw Mack walking toward me. "Hey, brother. What are you doin' here?"

"Droppin' off paperwork for your pops to look over. Tate with you?"

"What? No. You have her meetin' with a new client," I said. "Did you forget?"

"I sure as fuck did not," he growled. "Tate doesn't meet with new clients. That's not her job."

"Goddamn it!" I bellowed, just as my phone buzzed, and the panic siren screamed through the building.

Dad stormed out of his office, Devon behind him. "Who?"

I glanced at my screen, my blood running cold. "Tate," I said, at the same time Booker bolted out of his office.

"Tate hit her panic button," he said, after cutting the siren.

"Let's go," Dad ordered, and whoever happened to be there, rushed to their bikes, and mounted up.

"Where's the fire?" Train asked, riding into the compound, his roadie and new patch to our club, Ant, following.

I'd never been so happy to see him in my life. "Tate hit her panic button."

"Lead the way, brother."

I had never ridden so quickly or so recklessly, but I had to get to her. I should have gone with my gut and met her in the first place. It was a mistake I'd never make again.

Pulling up to where Tate's ping was leading us, we parked while Ant stayed with the bikes.

From the second Tate's alarm sounded and now, barely twenty minutes had passed, but it felt like days, and I had no idea what manner of hell she was being subjected to as we made our way toward her.

"Building's locked up tight," Train said once we'd tried every entrance.

Dad shrugged, pulling out his Glock. "I have a key."

He shot the lock out, immediately setting off an alarm, but I didn't care as I pulled my own gun out and pushed my way in.

"I'll stick around and wait for the cops," Mack said. "I'll buy you whatever time you need and call Jaxon."

Jaxon Quinn was FBI and just happened to be the biological brother to Ace, Tillie's father. That familial connection came in handy on many occasions.

To the right of the reception desk was a door with a security panel next to it, so I deduced that was the only way to get to Tate. Dad 'unlocked' that door as well, and I rushed through.

"Tate!" I bellowed.

I heard a frustrated growl from the back of the building, so I followed the sound.

"Why the hell do you always have to ruin everything?" Lionel squealed as he knelt beside a semi-lucid Tate on the floor, her blouse ripped down the front and a cut on her neck bleeding badly.

"Let her go, Lionel," I ordered, my gun aimed dead center of his forehead.

"Drop the gun, or I'll kill her." He pressed the knife over her heart.

"Tate, baby?"

"Shut up!" Lionel squeaked, raising the knife with two hands. "She's not yours—"

He didn't get the chance to say another word. A shot rang out before I could even pull my trigger and he went down. I scooped Tate up and carried her out, needing to get her as far away from the psycho as I could.

Tate

My nose itched like a mother fucker and my head felt like demons were hammering inside.

Oh, shit. Lionel.

I gasped, forcing my eyes open, only to be met by Flash's concerned face directly in front of me. "Hey, there beautiful."

I reached for him. "You're here."

"I'm here." He pulled me close as I burst into tears and he whispered, "I got you, baby."

"What happened?" I asked, glancing around to see that I was in a hospital bed.

"Lionel drugged you. You got a nasty bump on your head, and a little cut on your neck, but otherwise, you're okay. The doctor said you can go home tomorrow."

I settled my hands on my belly. "The baby?"

"Baby looks good, honey."

"How long have I been here?"

"About eight hours or so," Flash said. "Not sure how much he gave you, but it knocked you out pretty good."

I pulled on the oxygen thingy in my nose finally able to relieve the itch. "Where's Lionel?"

"Dead."

"What? Oh my god, what happened?"

"Story for another day, Tate. Let's just get you home, okay?"

Before I could pepper him with questions, my parents walked into the room and my mother let out a squeal of relief.

"Oh, honey, you're awake," she cried, rushing to the bed, and pulling me in for a hug.

"Do you know what happened?" I asked, and Flash gave me a warning glance.

"The police said a man took you hostage and he was shot by law enforcement in the struggle to rescue you."

"Oh." I had a feeling that wasn't the full story, but I had every intention of getting the truth once Flash and I were alone.

"We're just glad you're okay," Dad said, hugging me gently.

"Knock, knock," Hayden said, pushing the door open. "Your siblings are descending."

I chuckled as Hayden, Theo, and Ronan filed into the room.

"Even, Ronan," I mused. "Wow, you must have been worried."

My big brother wrapped his arms around me and kissed my cheek. "Don't ever do that to me again. But remember, I'm not too old to still beat up your bullies."

I squeezed him tight. "Oh, I won't ever forget."

He made his way to Flash and shook his hand, then it was a little chaotic as a doctor came in to check on me and run vitals.

"I really want to go home," I begged after the doctor determined I did not have a concussion.

"We have several nurses in the family," Flash said. "They're on deck to watch for any issues, so if she needs to come back to the hospital, she will."

The doctor nodded. "Okay, I think that'll work. I'll get your paperwork together. You can go ahead and get dressed."

I turned to Flash. "Do I have clothes?"

"Yeah, baby, I grabbed some."

"We'll step out," Mom said.
