The Triplets' Rejected Disabled Mate Chapter 109

6 min 2 views

Colt's POV

It was a few minutes to 5 a.m. when Grey woke me. I was still tired after last night's mission, and I needed sleep.

Missing one day's training wouldn't be the end of the world. Will it?

Kate snuggled closer and curled her body against my chest. Her sweet caramel scent was driving my insides insane and clouding my mind, making me drowsy.

"Kate's scent is stronger than usual," Ray said, and I nodded in agreement.

All mates' scents would drive their mates crazy, but today it was like Kate's scent was taking over my senses, body, and mind. It was consuming me, calling me, and wanting me.

And I was willing to give her everything, just to be able to be close to it.

I took a deep, long whiff of her scent, enjoying the feeling of how it burned down my nostrils and into my lungs.

Goddess, this was sweet love without making love to her.

"Colt," I heard Grey bark over the link, yet I tried to ignore him. "Get your ass down to training."

"One... more... minute..." I yawned, pushing my nose into Kate's hair.

"No Colt!" Grey scolded. "You are already late!"

I moaned under my breath, refusing to obey him.

"Colt!" Grey growled. "Get up now, or so help me, Goddess, I will drag your Alpha ass down to the training myself!"

"Fine!" I growled, annoyed. Grey would dare do such a thing. "I'm up! I'm up!" I yawed over the link.

I dragged my tired ass to the shower, did my business, and went down to training.

Sam and Grey were already on the training mat. They look energized and full of life.

Why the hell did I feel so drained?

Like someone sucked the life right out of me?

"Why the hell is wrong with you?" Sam said, eyeing me. "It looks like a pack of rogues has gotten hold of you!"

"You tell me," I said, yawning. "I had the same amount of sleep as you."

"Well, you better get your energy back," Grey warned. "The visiting packs will be arriving soon."

I sighed, rubbed my eyes, and nodded.

That was my cue!

"I know," I said, forcing myself not to yawn. "I can't help it. Something feels... different."

I gave Grey and Sam one final look before I turned and stalked off toward the exit.

"Where are you going?" Grey called after me.

"To get some decent sleep," I replied. Then I switched over to mind-linked when he was out of range. "Handle things until I am back! I need to get some proper shut-eye!"

I closed the link before any of my two brothers could say anything.

A smile played on my lips when I reached our quarters. Kate's things were standing in boxes all over the floor.

I called Alpha Duncan last night when we got ready for dinner and explained the situation to him. He understood and was willing to assist.

When Sam and I arrived at Silver Moonstone Pack last night, most of Kate's things were packed in boxes. The rest of her stuff will be coming with her old pack later today.

My brothers and I agreed that Kate needed to move into the spare room with us. It would make things easier for us to assist her with her daily routine and safer for Kate.

Whoever was targeting Kate did a decent job of hiding or confusing their scent.

Grey and Sam were frustrated, but we were not giving up. Somewhere, at some time, this person will make a mistake, and we will find and punish him.

I looked at the boxes and sighed.

First things first. I needed to get some clothes for Kate before she woke up.

I picked up a random box marked clothes, opened it, and smiled when it contained blouses and pants. Luna Melissa did a proper job when packing Kate's clothes.

I picked a set and searched for accessories.

When I was done, I headed back to Kate's room.

For some reason, I felt normal and energetic when I got there—that was until I entered Kate's room.

Kate was sleeping soundly, holding the huge bear Sam had given her. She looked so peaceful.

I set Kate's clothes down on the dressing table and walked closer, but the same tiredness moved over me like a cloud covering the sun.

Was it Kate who was drawing my energy from me?

I felt emotionally and physically tired. I could barely keep my eyes open.

A yawn escaped my lips as I fought against the miserable, sleepy feeling.

My gaze moved to the door. I was trying to decide whether I should stay or leave.

"She needs you," Ray whispered. He, too, sounded tired.

"What's happening?" I asked, pulling my shirt over my head. "I feel so sleepy, and I only want to be close to her."

"Kia," Ray said. "She is..."

My mind became clouded, and I didn't hear the last part of Ray's words.

I got into bed, pulling Kate to my chest. Her intoxicating scent was smothering me, yet I couldn't get enough of it.

I wanted to see it, feel it, hear it, and taste it.

I wanted to be one with it.

The heartbreaking sound of a howl startled me awake, leaving my heart racing.

I narrowed my eyes, noticing that I wasn't in bed, but tall green grass from a clearing greeted my sides, and it was swaying calmly in the summer breeze.

"What is this place?" I asked, getting to my feet and narrowing my eyes as I looked around.

"How the hell did I get here?"

The sound of the wind moving among the tall green grass calmed my heart. The smell of flowers blooming around me heightened my senses, yet they smelled like Kate, but just softer.

Another ear-piercing howl filled the air, and I turned toward the direction the sound was coming from.

I gasped, grabbing my chest.

A white wolf, pure as freshly fallen snow, stood just a couple of feet from me. She turned her head, her golden eyes piercing my soul.

"No, this is impossible!" I whispered, "They don't exist! This must be some delusion or dream."

"They do exist," the familiar, husky voice said from behind me.

Startled, I turned my head, finding Ray behind me and getting closer. All his focus was on the white wolf.

"How are we?" I started to ask, knitting my eyebrows, confused. I couldn't find the correct words. "Are we..?"

"Separated?" He asked, turning his gaze to look at me.

"Yeah," I said, unable to process what I was seeing.

"Something like that," Ray said.

Was he under the same spell as I was?
