The Triplets' Rejected Disabled Mate Chapter 117

5 min 2 views

Catherine POV

Grey steered us deeper into the crowd, his movements so flawless that it felt like I was floating. His rain in the forest scent was calming my stiff body posture, and the rain was washing away all my worries.

"You know that we will do everything in our power to keep you safe?" Grey suddenly asked.

"Yes," I said, lifting my gaze to search for his. Grey looked so handsome tonight that it was hard to keep my hands to myself, and he occupied my thoughts while we were dancing.

"Promise me you will not freak out." He asked. His calm composure had suddenly turned back to its stiff and cold self.

Something had changed. Something was wrong.

I knitted my eyebrows, noticing he was struggling to keep calm.

"What's going on?" I asked, getting worried.

"Promise me you will not freak out," Grey repeated.

Just as I nodded my head, a sudden warning growled so loudly and furiously that it echoed from the back of the hall, coming from where Colt and Sam stood.

The hall quieted down, and the music stopped.

Everyone's stunned and worried gazes turned toward where my mates were standing.

A wolf with blond hair had his back to the crowd, and I assumed it was an Alpha because of his powerful aura moving around him.

Why did he look so familiar?

"What's going on?" I asked Grey, staring into his gaze, but as soon as my words left my lips, the wolf turned and faced the crowd.

My heart stopped as my gaze fell on the familiar face of my rejected second-chance mate.

"He thinks you are his," Grey said, shaking in my arms.

"But that's not true," I said calmly. "We all know he rejected me."

Grey nodded, not saying a word.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Alpha Michael took the stage, calling everyone's attention. "Please be assured that everything is under control, and we can go back and enjoy the night. There is nothing to worry about. It is just a small misunderstanding."

The music started to play again, and the crowd started to go back to dancing.

Grey stood frozen in his spot. His gaze was pinned on the group of three.

"Let's go outside," Grey said, lifting me into his arms and carrying me outside bridal style.

At first, I wanted to argue. I wanted to see what was about to happen, but Grey's forest scent changed to something like a thunderstorm that was brewing.

My gaze slowly moved to his. He was biting down on his teeth hard, and the muscles in his jaw were jumping out of anger.

I sighed out loud. This wasn't how I wanted to end the night. I still wanted to dance with Sam and see the show the boys told me of.

The cold, crisp winter air sent a chill down my spine as we got outside, yet my attention was drawn to the beautiful decorations.

It was just as beautiful as the inside, if not even more spectacular.

"Wow," I said as my gaze moved from side to side.

The area had fairy lights hanging from corner to corner, with a huge dance platform in the center.

Grey carried me to a bar area and sat me down on a bar stool. He turned to the bartender and placed his order.

My gaze traveled toward the interesting swimming pool at the edge of the bar.

"My grandfather designed and built the pool with his own hands," Grey said.

"It is surely remarkable," I said as my gaze followed the outlines of the three great white marble wolves.

All three were standing on a platform in the center of the pool, howling at the moon, while the cold pool waters surrounded them.

"He had a dream about those wolf statues," Grey continued. "He firmly believed that they had magic in their blood and could merge into one enormous wolf."

Grey gestured to the other side of the pool, where an enormous statue stood, and my eyes widened.

The single statue was just as perfectly crafted as the other three.

I suddenly wonder how long it took him to complete it.

"My grandfather completed the project a year before we were born," Grey said.

Could it be that the statues were a prediction of what the triplets were?

Grey handed me the cocktail, and I took a sip, and the question started to bother me.

"Did your grandfather have any other dreams in his life?" I asked.

My father always said that the greatest wolves would get warnings from the goddess herself.

"Quite a few," Grey answered.

"And?" I asked. "Can you tell me about them?"

"I can do you one better," Grey said. "My grandfather kept a diary. He only sculptured the biggest and best dreams."

"Are there more of these?" I gasped, surprised.

"Yeah," he said. "The gardens are full of them."

Grey suddenly quieted down, and his eyes turned black. I guess he was mind-linking his brothers.

"Kate," he said, looking very sorry. "I need to quickly attend to something. Would you be okay on your own for just a minute?"

"I guess so," I said. "I have the bartender to keep me company."

Grey playfully growled and kissed my cheek, then ran off to the entrance of the hall.

I finished my drink and turned to the bartender.

"Can I have another, please?" I asked the bartender.

The cocktail was delicious, and I made a mental note to make sure that Grey would order it for me again.

"Sure," the bartender said. He opened the ice box, looked inside, and narrowed his eyes.

"What's wrong?" I asked, seeing the look of worry on his face.

"Out of ice," he said. "Will you be okay on your own while I go get the ice? I promise I will be quick."

I nodded with a smile, and the bartender took off.

I never expected that when the bartender left me alone at the bar, I would end up being the center of attention.
