The Triplets' Rejected Disabled Mate Chapter 114
Catherine POV
I gasped as we entered the ballroom, and the boys turned their heads, looking at me in wonder.
The Blue Moon Festival has always been a glamorous event, where the chosen pack could show all the surrounding packs how much the last festival before winter will mean to them.
White River Pack had chosen a winter theme, and my gaze moved in wonder over all the decorations.
The ballroom itself was decorated in a dark navy color, and small fairy lights were placed all over the ballroom walls, giving the illusion of stars.
From the ceiling, hanging crystals looked like snowflakes, and a huge pine tree stood in the corner, decorated with powder looking like snow, but that wasn't what had me in awe; hanging from the roof was a huge crystal centered in the ballroom.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Sam whispered in my ear.
I nodded in appreciation. It was spectacular.
"It will even be more beautiful when the moon's rays shine on it," Grey added.
"It should light up the room and give us a spectacular show," Colt added proudly.
We passed some tables with beautiful center decorations, and I couldn't help but appreciate how much effort was put into the event.
The ballroom was already crowded with ranked wolves, everyone waiting for the proceedings to start.
My gaze moved toward the huge windows, seeing pack members of the lower ranks standing outside and waiting.
Excitement was audible in the air, and the smell of joy and excitement was overpowering.
I wonder how many wolves have found their mates already. Was it someone I knew?
How many of my old pack came to attend?
My attention moved back toward the inside of the ballroom, looking to see if my parents had arrived.
"They are not here yet," Colt said, as if he were reading my mind. "They were delayed on the road."
"What happened?" I asked.
"Some trucks overturned," Grey said. "They shouldn't be too long."
"They wouldn't miss the best part of tonight," Sam added.
Sam steered me toward the stage at the end of the other side of the hall, where the opening of the Blue Moon Festival would start soon.
A band was quietly sitting on stage, waiting to make the crowd dance and enjoy themselves.
"So, what do you think?" Sam asked when we came to a stop a couple of feet from the stage. "Did we meet your expectations?"
"Yes," I answered. "You definitely did. It is really beautiful, and I love it!"
"You have seen nothing yet," Grey said proudly. "The main event will blow your mind away."
I could hear the excitement in Grey's voice, and it made me curious to see if what he said would happen. I can just imagine how beautiful it would look.
"Who will be opening tonight's festivities?" I asked.
"My father," Colt said seriously. "He is still the Alpha."
Yet something in the way he said that didn't sound true, but I nodded in understanding and scanned the surrounding crowd.
My gaze caught a glimpse of Amy; she was standing inside at the buffet table with her click.
"Odd," Kia grumbled, annoyed in my mind. She had been active the second we walked in and was just as appreciative of the view. "I am surprised that the Alpha is allowing an Omega to have so much power."
"I think it's more the Luna than the Alpha," I replied.
"Still!" Kia said, "It doesn't make sense. Just watch your back. I have a feeling she is up to something."
I made a mental note, ignoring Amy and turning my attention back to the stage.
Alpha Michael climbed the few steps with his Luna at his side and took center stage, and the band handed him a microphone.
We all knew it wasn't necessary to make announcements over a PA system; we could all hear just fine. It was the other creatures that were mated to wolves, whose hearing wasn't always as good.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Alpha Michael said, raising his hand in the air, and the crowd settled down. "Boys and girls, rank and pack members, and visiting packs, we welcome you all to the White River Pack's Blue Moon Festival!"
The crowd went wild, howling and clapping, and even a few whistles echoed through the ballroom.
"Settle down," he said, smiling. "I know everyone is excited about mingling and finding their mates, but let's make some quick arrangements."
Alpha Michael's warm personality had the crowd hanging from his lips. He made the announcements, explaining the different activities and food arrangements, and expressed his gratitude to everyone attending.
"Now," he said. "Let the festivities begin!"
Alpha Michael left the stage, and the band started playing music.
We moved to the side as wolves took their mates to the center, swaying to the music.
Colt turned toward me and held out his hand.
"Would you like to dance?" he asked.
I looked at him bewildered, as if he had lost his mind.
My legs didn't work; how did he expect me to dance?
"Come on," he said. "It would be fun."
Was he serious right now?
"I can't," I said. "You know I can't. I am not capable of moving my legs."
"Nonsense!" He said. "Everyone is capable of swaying to music. Come, I'll show you."
I hesitated for a moment, reading Colt's serious blue eyes. They were darker and warmer than usual.
"Go for it," Sam whispered in my ear.
"You will love it," Grey mused. "Colt is a great dancer."
My heart started to race in my chest, leaving my mouth dry, and I swallowed hard against the lump forming in my throat.
I always loved dancing and being part of werewolf festivities.
My gaze moved to where the crowd swayed to the music. It looked so fun! I want to be part of that too!
I have already given up so much.
Yet I was scared as well.
What if I made a fool out of myself?
I will never be able to show my face in public again.
"Trust me," Colt said.
"Fine," I gave in, placing my hand in his warm one.
What he did next was unexpected.
