The Triplets' Rejected Disabled Mate Chapter 159

6 min 2 views

Catherine POV

"Carlo!" I barked. "Let us go!"

I had shifted back to human and tried to order the rogues to let me leave, but somehow Carlo had them under his control.

They still kept a fair distance but didn't back down.

"Why should I?" Carlo asked, sneering. "You have nowhere to go. No one wants you, and Colt is dead. Grey and Sam would blame you for his death. Not to mention the pack and his parents."

My heart sank. Would Sam and Grey blame me?

Would they believe me when I told him Carlo was responsible?

My heart twisted in pain inside my chest, and my gaze moved to where Colt lay, only to find him gone.

I flinched, yet I recovered quickly.

"I guess you understand your dilemma then?" Carlo asked, taking my shock and bewildered expression as a good thing.

I slowly nodded my head and moved my gaze from side to side, acting as if I were weighing my options and looking at the rogues around me.

Movement caught my eye, and I noticed Sam peeking out of the tunnel, and his expression twisted out of pure anger.

Sam was suddenly pulled back, and I narrowed my eyes, confused.

"I am sure you have questions," Carlo suddenly asked.

"Questions?" I replied, confused.

"Yes," he said. "Did you ever wonder how we got in and out of the pack undetected?"

"You used a substance that looks something like baby powder," I said.

"Clever girl!" Carlo praised, "I guess you picked up some tips from Sam."

"What do you know about Sam?" I asked.

"Little Sam?" Carlo threw his head back and laughed. "He doesn't know if he is coming or going. That Alpha has no sense of responsibility or direction."

Carlos lifted his index finger in the air.

"Do you know what else I was doing except trying to find you?" He asked.

Why was Carlo playing for time? He already knew I refused to take him as a mate.

"When I attacked a pack, I always found a way to weaken the current Alpha; Sam was my target," Carlo said. "He practically went crazy when his magic spiraled out of control."

"What did you do?" I asked angrily.

Carlo laughed from his stomach.

"I slipped something in his food when he visited me at the restaurant," Carlo said proudly.

"Why target him?" I asked. "Why not Colt or Grey?"

"Because he is the weakest link," Carlo barked. "Targeting him was targeting his pack. The weaker the Alpha family, the easier it was to penetrate the pack."

"Did you do this with all the packs?" I asked.

Carlo laughed.

"Yes," he answered. "Except yours."

"Why?" I asked, surprised.

"Because an Alpha female never fully rules the pack, and Jimmy has already created enough drama to keep your father distracted."

Distracted: Carlo must have used someone to keep me distracted.

Then the name suddenly popped up, and I couldn't help but ask.

"Where does Leah fit into this?" I asked, and Carlo flinched upon hearing her name.

So he knows her, but how?

Did he send her to me?

Was she playing on Carlo's side?

"I do not know who you are talking about," Carlo said.

"Don't lie to me!" I growled. "You know exactly who Leah is!"

Carlo stormed forward, closing the distance between us. He came to a stop inches before my face.

"I don't know who she is," he spat in my face.

"I think you do...!"

Carlo's hands snapped around my neck, choking me. His face was twisted in anger.

Why was he doing this?

Before I lost consciousness, an unknown, dominant roar echoed through the cave and bounced against the walls.

Started, Carlo's gaze snapped toward the entrance of the cave, and he let go of me.

I sank to my knees as I gasped for air, my hands rubbing the bruises around my throat.

Carlo's face turned white as if he had seen a ghost, and he quickly hid behind the rogues.

Was he afraid of the roar?

Coward!

The next moment, a huge multicolored wolf of grey, black, and white fur landed on his paws between me and the rogues.

The rogues moved back, afraid of the huge, dominant intruder.

The new wolf threw his head back, released a long and high-pitched howl, and turned his head toward the tunnel. The sound of a group of warriors was answering his call.

I shivered.

The wolf turned his gaze to me, winked, and ran into the group of rogues. He cut through their bodies with his razor-sharp teeth, slashing them in half with every bite.

I watched in amazement as his body moved. His movements were calculated, fast, flawless, and strong—like a properly trained Alpha. Like the triplets...

The wolf stormed the next set of rogues head-on, killing another five or six in less than a minute.

The way the wolf moved reminded me of how Grey's wolf, Duke, moved.

Every step he took was strong, exact, and calculated.

Yet, I couldn't help but recognize Sam's wolf as well. Luka was a killing machine on four paws, slicing through bodies with a snap of his jaw.

Who is this wolf?

I lifted my nose to the air, hoping to find a clue, but I was surprised to learn that the beast had no scent at all.

Is that how he managed to surprise the rogues?

Is that how he sneaked into the tunnels?

Or was his scent just buried under all those muscles and power?

One by one, the rogues died, until only Carlo's wolf was left standing—he had shifted under attack.

Kylo tried to flee, but five of the warriors blocked him off and chased him back.

The huge wolf turned his gaze toward me, and my heart suddenly fluttered inside my chest. He huffed, nodded at his warriors, and went closer.

Carlo's execution didn't take much effort; the new wolf ripped his heart out, and I flinched when his heart dropped to the floor. Carlo wouldn't bother us again.

I hesitated when the huge beast got too close. Was he here to hurt me?

"Hi, big guy?" I said. "Thank you for saving me."

The wolf yapped playfully, sounding like Ray.

"Who are you?" I asked confusedly, and the wolf pushed his massive head against my hand.

Small electrical parks erupted under my hands, and, surprised, I pulled back my hand.

I was shocked.

Was it possible that Colt and his brothers had merged into this beautiful beast?

Was that story Grey told me true?

The wolf yapped, laid down, and gestured with his head for me to get on.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

He nodded.

I reached out my hand and touched the beast's fur, and the familiar texture under my fingertips made me realize that I was right. I moved my hands over every color, realizing the white fur was not white but light gray.

"Boys?" I whispered, and the wolf turned his gaze toward me. "You all have a lot of explaining to do!"
