The Triplets' Rejected Disabled Mate Chapter 80

Colt's POV

"My baby, that's my baby!" Luna Melissa cried out.

The raw emotions of relief were audible in her broken voice when she saw us coming up the steps toward the porch with Ellie in my arms.

Luna Melissa rushed toward me, tears of happiness rolling over her already red and swollen face.

I carefully handed Ellie over to her mother and stood back, observing the beautiful and pure love she had for the pup.

"Thank you," Luna Melissa said. "The pack will forever be in your debt."

I smiled and nodded tiredly at her.

"If you would excuse me," she said, wiping tears from her face. "I had better get her dried up and take her to the doctor to get her checked out."

I nodded in understanding, and I reached out and carefully rubbed my fingers over Ellie's chubby little face.

She had stopped crying the second I found her and held out her little hands to me to pick her up.

It was as if she knew I meant her no harm and went to look for her.

Except for her being soaking wet, cold, and shaken up pretty badly, the poor pup wasn't hurt at all.

There was even evidence that someone took care of Ellie, giving her something to eat and drink.

Yet even though Ellie was now safely back at home, I couldn't shake the nagging feeling in the back of my head that this wasn't over.

Luna Melissa smiled at me, then turned and left.

"You did it!" Sam yelled out, pulling me into a one-arm hug. "You found Ellie!"

"If it wasn't for Grey, we wouldn't have found her," I said.

"This was all you, Colt," Grey said. "You found and brought her home."

"Guys!" Kate called from the entrance, wiping stray tears from her face. She looked much better than before we left. I guess Sam must have told her we had found Ellie and were returning home.

"Let's get you two cleaned up," Kate said.

I nodded, looking toward Grey. He, too, looked exhausted and cold.

We silently followed Kate down the hallway to a whole different area of the packhouse.

I was surprised at how big the place was, and it took us ages before Kate finally stopped at a door.

"These are quarters reserved mainly for guests and visiting families," she said, unlocking and pushing the door wide open.

"Are we staying the night?" Grey linked.

"It seems so," I replied.

"Everything is already set up," Sam chirped excitedly.

We weren't planning to stay the night, but I guess it would be for the best.

Grey and I were exhausted, and I wouldn't let Sam drive us back in this kind of weather. Not that I didn't trust him; he had his license, but Sam wasn't as good a driver as Grey and I.

Sam pushed Kate's wheelchair inside, and he turned the wheelchair around so that Kate could face us.

My gaze moved over the open area, finding the quarters spacious and warm.

There was a living room area with a huge fireplace—a fire was already burning—a dining area where we could all easily fit at the table and have our meals, and a small entertainment area with a pool table and a dartboard.

My gaze moved to three nearby doors.

"Grey, your luggage is in that room," Kate said, pointing to a room close to the door we had just entered. And Colt's, your room is that one."

"Where is Sam sleeping?" Grey asked.

"Sam is located..."

"In Kate's room," Sam said, cutting Kate off and keeping a straight face. "I am keeping her warm tonight. She already said she was fine with that."

Grey looked at Kate, lifting an eyebrow. It seemed like he was pleading for her to reconsider.

Kate rolled her eyes, shaking her head, and huffed under her breath, not very impressed with Sam.

"You will be sleeping outside if you keep on teasing your brothers like that," Kate warned Sam.

"But it is raining outside," Sam playfully argued. "You can't throw me out in the cold. I'm afraid of the rain!"

"Liar!" Kate said, keeping a straight face. "I know you like getting wet."

"Yeah, but not that way. It is too cold outside." Sam mumbled.

Kate burst out laughing, and her laughter was magic to my ears. The stressful atmosphere of today is now completely dismantled.

"Seriously, Sam, someday you could be such a baby," she said.

"I know," he answered. "But that is what makes you love me."

"Whatever," she said, rolling her eyes and turning her attention back to Grey. "Sam will be sleeping in that room," she said, gesturing to the third closed door. "He is just talking shit to piss you off."

Grey nodded, seemingly satisfied by her answer.

"Where will you be sleeping?" I asked, curious to know if she would be spending the night.

"In my room, of course," Kate said.

"Why?" I asked. "There is plenty of room for you here."

"Because we are not going to sleep if I stay here," she said, seriously. "Besides, my room is equipped to help me move around, which will give you two a break from carrying me around and getting some proper rest."

"But we like carrying you," Grey said.

"I know," she said, smiling. "But you need rest. You have been outside, running for hours in that cold weather, and it's been an emotional roller coaster for all of us throughout the day."

I nodded in understanding and didn't bother to argue any further.

"If you would excuse me, I'm going to take a hot shower and get myself into some proper warm and dry clothes," I said, feeling cold.

The long run in the drenching rain had exhausted me, and I was now left tired and cold to the bones.

I shivered.

"Are you okay?" she asked, concerned.

"I'm fine," I said, turning toward my assigned room.

"There is an ensuite bathroom with a shower and tub connected to the room," Kate called after me. "Take your time. In the meantime, I will arrange supper from the kitchen."

I nodded and thanked her, heading toward my room, yet I never thought that after dinner, the pack would get news of another disaster.
