MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON Chapter 110
Nothing prepared me for what I was witnessing. I stood frozen in the shadows, my heart racing. I had heard stories of dark magic, but I never thought I'd witness it firsthand. The air was thick with an odd energy as Uncle William chanted in a low, raspy voice.
The words seemed to weave a spell around King Draken's lifeless body. His eyes, once hollow and cold, began to shake. A faint glow arose from his chest, and his legs started to tremble.
As the magic continued King Draken's eyes snapped open. He gasped, his chest heaving as he struggled to breathe. Uncle William's eyes shone with triumph as he reached out to help the king sit up.
"Welcome back, Your Majesty," Uncle William said, his voice dripping with false sincerity.
King Drakem was truly alive now. I was shaking.
King Draken's stare was cloudy, but as he looked around, his eyes began to clear. He started at Uncle William with a suspicious stare. "What...what have you done?"
"Just like we planned" William responded.
Wait, was King Draken also part of…
Drake was shaking and looked a little bit startled before everything started to make sense to him, an evil smile then curled on his lips. "Just like we planned, brother." He muttered.
Uncle William smiled, his eyes glinting with malice. "I've brought you back from the dead, Your Majesty. And now, I need your help."
King Draken's expression turned uncertain. "What do you want from me?"
Uncle William's smile grew wider. "The royal emblem, of course. With that, I'll be able to take over the kingdom of Valthrun. And I must say, it's convenient that you're the only one who can give it to me."
My eyes widened with every word I heard.
King Draken also looked as shocked as I am. "William…" he muttered like his voice was weak. "The deal was to bring me back to life to claim my throne. What do you speak of now?"
So King Draken was in on the plan from the beginning. It means his death was a fake, a deliberate attempt to deceive Damien. He had planned with his brother to resurrect him all this while.
But now, it looked kike William was betraying him.
I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized Uncle William's true intentions. He had brought King Draken back to life solely to manipulate him for the royal emblem. And once he had it, he would stop at nothing to claim the throne.
"Wouldn't it be outrageous if the kingdom found out you are alive? They will question my practice of dark magic and if they discover you were involved, you wouldn't step on the throne either. So why don't you make this easier and hand me the emblem"
King Draken's face twisted in opposition. "You think you can control me? Use me for your gain? I think not, William. Now that I'm awake, I'll take back my kingdom and give you a title, but not the one you're expecting. You'll be lucky if I don't throw you in the dungeons."
Uncle William's face turned red with rage. "You fool," he spat. "You'll never take back your kingdom. I've come too far, and I won't be stopped by a weak, decrepit old man like you."
"You have been the useless brother from the first day. You can only take power when I am not available"
"And that I why I came to your castle after you were locked up" he snickered.
"You think the people would accept you. What do you think you have that qualifies you for a king?"
The argument escalated, with both men shouting over each other. But it was clear that King Draken was no match for Uncle William. He was still weak from his resurrection, and Uncle William took advantage of that.
"Hand over the emblem, now!" William's rage intensified as he drew out his sword.
"We can talk about this better" Was that fear I saw in the King's eyes?
"When I become King, you will get all you want brother. You would have a break like the formal king, nothing will change." William said.
Draken was quiet for a while like he was thinking about it and then he handed the emblem gently to William. "First, let's…"
With a swift, merciless movement, Uncle William slid the sword into King Draken's throat, ending his life. I watched in horror as the king slumped to the ground, his eyes frozen in shock.
All this while, Veresyina was in the shadows, almost behind the curtains, but she had also been very shocked as she stepped forward, with her face frozen.
"You killed him, again." She gasped.
"He wasn't trying to understand," William said placing the emblem around his neck. "Do you support him too, Verestina? I remember you talking about being his Queen when he becomes King again"
"I don't…mind" she stuttered and then moved closer to him, her hands trailing his chest down to his waist. "I can still be your Queen when you become King."
He laughed, grabbing her closer to him and a moan escaped her lips. "You want me now?"
"I am sure you taste better than all of the royals," she said. Her voice was now calm and neutral. "What's the next plan, Uncle William?"
William's chest pulled with effort, but he quickly composed himself. "We need to keep this quiet for now. The kingdom can't know that King Draken is dead…again, by a sword...not yet, anyway."
"The nobles need to see your emblem now and you need to claim that throne," Verestina said
I held my breath, hoping that neither of them would notice me eavesdropping. I had heard enough to know that Uncle William's plan was far more sinister than I could have ever imagined. And now, I was in grave danger. If Uncle William found out that I had been listening, I would be the next to die.
There was no doubt about that.
