MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON Chapter 115

Christie's POV

Everything happening in the castle was getting me worked up. I was scared, no we were all scared. Verestina was now living in the castle and moving around like she owned the place, she had assigned Lady Agatha herself as her maid, and I was so glad she didn't want me, I would have killed myself.

The corridor was empty as I rushed down to drop off a new washcloth for Williams who asked all of us to regard him as His Highness.

His door was slightly open so I took a quick peek but was met with Verestina who grabbed the cloth from my hand and pushed the door closed. I was grateful that I didn't have to go in by myself to drop the washcloth and I also felt like slapping her upside down the head.

As I quickly walked away from William's chambers I caught a glimpse of Elijah and I was happy, he was walking towards the direction of the kitchen when I ran after him, grabbing him by the arms I pulled him to a corner, he had a look of surprise on his face.

"I-I am sorry," I said when I realized what I had done, he smiled briefly, but quickly changed into a serious face.

"It's nothing, at least we didn't bump into each other this time," he said and I chuckled, nodding my head as well.

"How are you coping, with things changing in the castle, how have you been?" He asked, sounding genuinely worried.

"Before that…" I muttered. "I need to talk to you." My face twisted into an unhappy countenance. "I do not think we can see each other again," I whispered, going into a darker location as he followed me.

"Why? Is that why you refused to make me lunch the last time? I was upset also"

I raised my brows. "What? Are you worried? Did you even bother to ask me what happened?"

He was taken aback, I don't know by which. My sudden confidence or my question.

"Your mother…almost killed me, Elijah. Because of you…what I had to bear…"

A frown settled on his face. "What do you mean?"

"She's not so kind like you said after and had explicitly given me threatening to stay away from her lively son, Knight Elijah." I rolled my eyes. "Like anything was going on between us in the first place" I breathed heavily after rushing my words.

His calm but upset face caused me to look away, wondering if I had said too much. "What did she do?" He asked again

"She threw the food I prepared for you on my body, while it was still hot. I had burns…" I said as I tried opening it for him to see, but knowing it was in places on my body I did not wish for him to see just yet. I hesitated. "She saw your note and warned me to stay away from you."

"She's ridiculous. I must speak to her."

I dragged him back as he tried to go. "What do you think you're doing? She's not going to spare me if she finds out. Especially now that she's Verestina's maid. She's going to be the death of me eventually."

He sighed. "It is one of the things I came here to discuss with her. I do not like her involvement with Lord Balen and his daughter."

"Well, does she have a choice? She was chosen as their maid and you are a wee who has the authority now."

"I cannot believe this. How did it happen?

I was happy he was here because I needed someone to talk to. I looked around searching to see if anyone was loitering around when I didn't see anyone. I held his hand in mine.

"It's been terrible, a lot has been happening that I can't even begin to explain, Williams killed the king," I said and he frowned and I realized what I had said.

"Not Damien, his father"

"Wasn't he dead already?" He was confused and I realized that nobody knew the actual truth so I told him.

"Wicked!" He exclaimed. "I knew that Verestina was up to no good" he continued and I nodded my head.

"It was her plan all along, she kidnapped Freda and I am sure of that, and her father that evil Lord, I pity his house, he and his daughter were the ones involved in the kidnapping of Freda. I know that was one big plan cause it led to all of this. Williams is threatening everybody in the castle and the ones that don't support him are being thrown in the dungeon"

"And what about you, do you support him?" Elijah asked and I shook my head as fast as I could.

"I am lucky he hasn't asked the maids these questions just the soldiers if not I would be rotting away in the dungeon," I said and he smiled at me, guess he was satisfied with my answers, there was more to tell him, more he had to know, I needed to let him know that Williams plans to kill Damien on the battlefield, I needed to tell him a lot but I had to know what side he was on.

"How do I trust you?" I asked and he raised his brows.

"I work for the royals and the last King I knew was Damien. I might not be around the castle premises, but as a knight what I do for the King beyond the borders speaks of my loyalty. "

"So what do we do? How do we reach out to the King and do you think he is going to survive the war?" I asked, panicking. There was no way Freda would be lost and King Damien would be dead also. That would be the most tragic phenomenon that would ever happen to me.

"I would do all I can. I promise I am not on William's side."
