MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON Chapter 119
I wasn't smiling when I busted into Winston's apartment. Although I already had good information about Freda's whereabouts from Elara and Christie. But the mother's location was still unknown and only Winston could tell us.
I stood before Freda's father, my eyes flashing with judgment. "I've come for information about Freda," I said. "Elara told me you know where she is."
Winston's expression was guarded, his eyes narrowing slightly as he regarded me. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, "I had given you a few weeks to bring Freda back, where's she?"
My anger flared, and I took a step closer to him. "Don't lie or play with me, Winston," I growled. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. You're the one who threatened me, who told me I had to find Freda. And now you're pretending you don't know where she is?"
Winston's face darkened, and he stood up, his fists clenched. "How dare you," he spat. "I don't know where Freda is, and even if I did, I wouldn't tell you."
"You know where she is?". I had been so sure that Winston knew not where Freda was. And now, it seemed like I was back to square one. Like he deceived me all this while. "Tell. Me, did you help her escape from me?
He was quiet, but still stood in front of me, his shoulders broadening like he wanted to shift.
But I refused to give up. I knew that Winston was hiding something, and I was determined to find out what it was. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.
"Listen, Winston," I said, my voice low and even, bringing all the pride I had down. "I'm not going to leave until you tell me the truth. Where is Freda?"
Winston's expression changed, and he looked away, like my calmness did something to him, his voice barely above a whisper, he said "I knew about her escape plan. I was supposed to help her, but...but something went wrong. I couldn't find her the day she was meant to escape."
I nodded, my mind racing with the information. I had heard that Verestina had kidnapped Freda, but I wanted to know more about Freda's prior location
"It only means Verestina had taken her." I went further in explaining to Winstons what Christie had told me about the happenings of the castle. He seemed shocked, and so was his wife. "You see why this means a lot to me if you can tell me her initial plan of escape. Maybe she is there right now."
Winston hesitated before speaking. "I don't know. I was supposed to meet her at the castle, but she never showed up. I searched everywhere for her, but...but I couldn't find her."
"Where was planning to go" I asked Winston.
Winston's eyes clouded over, and he looked away. "Her mother's place. In the human world."
My ears perked up at this new information. Freda's mother's place? In the human world? This was a lead I couldn't ignore. "Why that far!"
"That was what she wanted and I wanted the same for her. It was better than living with an animal like you."
"Did Freda refer to me as an animal?"
"You are to me, it doesn't matter what she says."
"It does. To me. Tell me more," I urged Winston. "What's the address? How do I get there?"
Winston paused before speaking. "It's… in the city, I doubt if you can find your way around there. I don't know the exact address…" he muttered, his gaze shifting from his wife Amelia, who was already boiling with rage. "but...but I can give you directions."
I nodded, my mind racing with the possibilities. I had to find Freda, and I had to find her now.
"I need the directions to the place, but not only that. Arrange some of your men as you will be going with me to find her."
"I am not going with you. And at this point, there isn't a need for you to find Freda. I'm sure she is fine where she is."
"You are sure? You haven't even seen her for weeks?"
"Is Freda some type of special trophy?" Amelia interrupted.
"Freda is my mate, my queen!" I snapped at her with a growl and she hid behind her husband instantly. "I am impatient. " I told Winston.
He growled for a little while and then one of his men suddenly rushed to him. He whispered some things into his ears and I saw a frown settled on Winston's face. I was curious, but I knew well to stay out of the issue because it wasn't my concern. After the guard had spoken Winston discarded him with a wave of hand.
"We might need to gather your strongest soldiers."
"Why?" I asked.
"Freda's mother has been kidnapped." Winston paced around the room, feeling restless and I watched Amelia's rage grow.
"And how do you know that?" I snapped.
"You think I would let my daughter be there without someone watching her? I just got the news that her mother had been kidnapped and Freda isn't back from school."
"Freda now goes to college?" I couldn't handle all the shockers at once. What was she in the human world for, college or her mother?
"This isn't the time or place!" Winston snapped. "You either come with me to get Freda before she gets back from school and save her mother or not!"
"No, you follow my lead," I said instead, walking out of his room.
"You don't even know the location" I heard from behind and I paused. True, I'll let him take the lead this time and once I find out that truly Freda was unsafe. I will protect my woman myself and not her father.
As Winston walked passed me leafing the way, the thought of William crossed my mind. I hadn't found him since I got back. He had taken over Valthrun yet nowhere to be found. As the pieces started to fit, I feared he might have taken Freda's mother.
