DAMIEN POV

My fingers tapped the desk in the study room. Was I doing the right thing? I was certain Freda would be happy with the news, but why was I doing everything solely for her happiness

The door unlocked and the palace guards dragged Winston in. He looked like an offender, dirty also, with a foul odor. He dragged his feet as he was made to sit on the chair opposite me.

I ordered that they remove the handcuff from him which stopped him from shifting to his wolf all this while. He heaved a big sigh of freedom but still looked at me with so much hatred.

"Alpha Winston" I called him. "Father of Freda, my queen-to-be"

"Your forced queen. I fail to believe you are my daughter's mate, Damien"

"I do not seek your validation on that Winston, your daughter, and I are both mates and I knew the first day I met her."

"Has she accepted you as her mate?" He frowned, raising his voice angrily.

A smile cornered my lips as the events of yesterday and this morning flashed through my memory. That was enough acceptance from Freda. The urge and want for me to be inside her was a sign of our mate bond.

I knew if Winston found out about it, had would get angry at me and his daughter, so I kept the news away from him.

"I am working towards Freda accepting me completely and that's why you are here."

He rolled his eyes. "I would not take part in this."

I leaned further to him. "You do not have a choice, Winston." I played with the book on the desk. "This isn't my father you're talking to. I am nicer and I make the right decisions. If you would only listen"

He went silent for a while, I thought he was thinking of shifting to attack me.

"Now, this is why I called." I started. "I think you should be released, Winston. You tell me what you think?"

His eyes squinted a bit. "You want to release me from your prison?" He questioned.

"I believe that is what I want to do. I think it would make Freda happy." I found myself smiling at the thought Of surprising Freda with this. "I learned you have not been good to her for a while, but changed when you got here. I believe it is a facade and you do not mean this affection. However, I do not control what Freda believes and I noticed she longed to see you free"

"The love I have toward my daughter is true. It might seem complicated but only us understands us." He snapped.

"I do not believe that. Which is why, Winston, I would like to send you back to your home. Stay with your family, have your life with them."

"You wish to release your prisoner?"

"For Freda. I think Freda would be very happy if I do this."

His mouth opened like he wanted to speak but he could not utter a word. 

"And so I wanted to ask for your blessings also. Freda is mine now and I know I didn't care about what you thought about it at the beginning. But, now I do. I seek your blessing Alpha Wiston."

"By choice or force?" He asked and I chuckled.

"I don't mind any…Winston, that is not all. I want your pack to prepare for the coming coronation with us. You bring a good number of influential pack numbers and family with you to join us in the coronation. "

"So this is why you are sending me home" A bitter laugh escaped his lips. 

"Remember not to play games with me, because I am always one step ahead of you any day…and your daughter is still with me…there might be affection today, but hatred might surge up tomorrow" 

I threatened. Not like I could hurt Freda intentionally, but if Winston did try anything stupid, Freda could suffer for it…in other ways.

"Freshen up. Remove your stank. I'll bring Freda to see you and you'll leave in a few hours."

"I do not give my blessing yet" he fumbled when I stood up from the chair.

"You would do that on the coronation, Alpha Winston. No rush." I snickered, walking out of the study room. 

The coronation was approaching fast enough and in two weeks, this will all be done for. I walked into the chamber, Freda was already dressed, her Lilly scent filling the room.

"You're here" A happy gasp from her lips as she dropped the book she was reading and rushed over to me. Although she limped, a sense of pride filled me that I did that.

"I have a surprise for you Freda," I said to her. She rolled her eyes and leaned against me.

"The massage?" She asked. "You said to give me the queen treatment"

"Not that" I hissed my teeth. "I think this will make you more happy." 

She giggled in advance urging me to tell her. 

"I planned to release your father, ask for his blessing, and let him go home in preparation for your coronation," I announced 

Her countenance changed. I couldn't decipher her emotions for some moment. Was she happy? Or sad? Or…

"Damien…is that true?" Her voice broke and her eyes became teary. 

"Yes," My heart lit with joy to see that it was just her emotions running. Guilt still washed over me for keeping her father locked for too long, if I knew she was this sad about it.

"Would you like to see him?" I asked her, pulling her closer to wipe her tears. She nodded, sniffing in.

"Thank you, Damien," she said.

"It's okay," I responded, rubbing the back of her hair while hugging her. Her father needed to see that we were truly in love with each other, so he could accept this mate bond.

In love? Maybe too big for Freda. Sometimes she acted like I was the only one who mattered, other times she behaved like I was a stranger.
