MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON Chapter 93
Freda's POV
My eyes flew open. I could not believe I had almost actually slept. Damien's weight rested on my lower half, and his arms were around me like he knew I was going to try to escape. I stared at his sleeping face and my heart collapsed. I had to do this, I reminded myself.
I gently moved his hands that were around me, he stirred a little but went back to sleep turning to his other side. I placed a soft kiss on his back before dragging myself out of bed. I changed out of the little to no dress I wore to bed last night into the clothes he gifted me for coronation. I did not realize it was still here until I saw it, I zipped up my pants and carried the little small bag I had been putting my escape things in. I was so lucky Damien was not someone who meddled in other business or else he would have found the bag, whenever Christie came to clean up the room I took the bag and hid it in the dresser and when she was done I returned it under the bed.
I put the bag around my shoulder and walked to the door, I paused, my heart beating fast. I didn't know what I was waiting for, this was the moment I had been praying to come and now it was here I was hesitant. I turned around to look at Damien's sleeping figure one more time before I opened the door slightly and walked out, closing it back as gently as I opened it.
The corridor was barely lit but I had been roaming these halls for a long time so I knew my way around irrespective. I walked towards the throne room where Kara was supposed to be waiting for me and I saw her, she was looking around. I didn't like the idea of bringing her into this but she was the only one I could trust and was a better option than Christie.
My mind drifted to Christie, I hoped she would be able to forgive me.
"Where have you been?!" Kara asked in a hushed voice upon seeing me, she also carried a bag, smaller than mine but large enough to keep essentials.
"I had to get Damien off of me," I said, sounding unlike myself.
"You don't seem excited to do this, are you sure you still want to do this I mean I-"
"I need to do this Kara I just don't want to do this, we need to hasten up, this is a corridor anybody can pass and the guards will start doing their rounds soon," I said and she frowned.
"Where's my father?" I asked, beginning to sound impatient. I wanted to leave before I decided not to anymore.
"I would go get him, you just wait here," Kara said and was about to leave when I stopped her.
"W-wait, let's wait for him together a bit and if he doesn't come on time you could go fetch him," I said and she nodded.
After a few seconds of silence between us, I decided to break the silence.
"What's in your bag?" I asked and she snickered.
"I took all that was in the pantry," she said and I chuckled, Kara wasn't much of an eater. I wondered why she took all that was kept in the pantries.
"You do know that is meant for tomorrow's breakfast before the ceremony," I said and she shrugged her shoulders.
"We won't be here for it so we might as well have it, besides I kept a few"
"Aww, how sweet of you" I replied with a soft smile until she wiped the smile completely replacing it with a wide grin.
"It was only because they could not fit into my bag, it was nothing sweet, if we didn't have to run I'd carry an extra bag," she said and I chuckled.
"Kara!" I said hitting her on the shoulder and she grinned, sighing we went back to being silent.
"Thank you for doing this with me," I said and she held my hand rubbing the insides softly.
"Your father forced me to, and you know I couldn't say no to my alpha so yeah, I did it for your father, not y- ouch that hurts!"
I poked her hard during her sentence, she was not doing this for my father. If anything she hated my father as much as I did.
"Thank you," I said and she smiled, still rubbing the part of her arm I had just poked.
We had been waiting a while, I thought to myself maybe it was time she went to call my father, the earlier we left the castle the better.
"You can go find my father now, I think we have given him enough time to find us," I said and she nodded.
"Do I drop my bag here or not?" She asked and I shrugged.
"Whatever you find right for you, do but please make haste," I said and she carried her bag along and left me to myself in the empty hallway.
One could hear the owls hooting from a distance, the castle was so silent I was beginning to feel a little bit scared being on my own, I should have followed Kara.
Sighing I began pacing, standing in one place was not helping matters, I was too scared on my own, I heard footsteps and I turned. Was that Kara? She was back already? I asked myself trying to squint my eyes to see the figure that was walking towards me.
"Kara?" I called out in a hushed voice. I got no response and was about to walk towards the figure when I heard another set of footsteps behind me. I whisked around to see who that was when a bag was placed over my head and my mouth was covered over the bag.
What was happening? I asked myself struggling, my noise was muffled, and my hands were held together as I tried thrashing around, was this part of the plan? I asked myself when I suddenly felt dizzy, I couldn't keep my eyes open, my body was limp, my legs gave away and I fell into the arms of someone. What was happening?
