MATED TO THE VAMPIRE KING SON Chapter 87
DAMIEN'S POV
This was the largest dinner crowd I had ever sat with, the nobles on my right and the werewolves on my left. It had been over a week since the werewolves and Nobles arrived at the castle and it had been a stressful week.
The table was busting with loud noise and chatter, mostly from the werewolves' side as they ate. Freda sat beside me in silence as she watched everybody and ate her meal.
"These species surely don't recognize table manners" My Uncle whispered in my ear and I rolled my eyes because he was right. It pissed me off to hear that much chatter at the dining table. They were all talking at the same time, I wasn't the only one irritated by this because Lord Balen shushed them.
"Guess it's difficult to train dogs but I have no choice since you are at the table, be silent!" He said and Freda's father took it to heart and countered him. They bickered on and on, and somehow it amused me watching Lord Balen get all frustrated and Winston's father get all riled. I heard Freda sigh loudly and I knew it was time to put an end to it.
"Both of you, enough," I said suddenly feeling bored. "I won't have you disrespect me further, the purpose of this dinner is not to call yourselves dogs and pests, it's for a different reason, so sit let us address that reason and retire to bed," I said. Freda's father Winston and Lord Balen quietly sat back down.
Lady Daphne had a smile on her face and so did Duke Magnus. I knew not why but I asked no questions either. I was tired and wanted to be on my bed, with Freda in my arms.
I turned to look at her and my chest rose with pride, soon, she was going to be mine in every sense.
"Quit staring" I heard her mutter and I chuckled. I rested my back on the chair and dropped my hands on the table, well one hand and the other on Freda's thighs as I stroked my fingers on her bare skin.
The dress she wore had a slit on the right side and it hugged her skin perfectly. I argued about her wearing it but apparently, it was what Kara sought best.
"Duke Magnus, I am placing you in charge of the crowns, you shall see to the crowning on that day, Lady Daphne and Elara will see to the availability and provisions of whatever food is to be shared out on that day, and not just to the nobles but to ever commoners in the kingdom. Everybody must feast and merry as it is going to be a happy day" I said my whole hand now flat and rubbing Freda's thighs up and down.
"Marquise Theo," I said and he looked at me from the corner of his eyes, I never would understand him.
"Your Highness" he responded, his voice sharp and bold unlike him.
"You shall be in charge of arranging the invitations for the new guests, each of your houses is permitted to come with its followers and Marques Theo will see to their sitting arrangements"
"Baron Rhys, y-"
"All I hear is Lord this Lord that, why are we here if we are not going to be involved in this discussion" Winston said interrupting my sentence and I frowned.
"Just because we are not invested in this union it does not mean you should ignore us, it is very disrespectful of a king to not carry the members of his table along," he said again and my frown deepened, I was not even ready to say anything to him but Freda felt like I was going to lash out because she put her hands on my hand holding her thighs and I sighed.
"Alpha Winston, there is no need to be rude, you and your people never showed interest in seeing to the affairs of the coronation ceremony. How was I supposed to tell you interested in the preparation" I said, my eyes wandering from his as I stared at every presence at the table from the werewolf side, none of them could say anything. I stared at the bald man who caused a stir on the day of their arrival by challenging me to a duel. I expected him to act defiantly and try to say something but he bowed his head and went back to his meal.
"We just want to be a part of something," Freda's father said and I smiled, it was the first time he sounded calm and normal.
"What then are your people interested in?" I asked calmly.
"Security," he said and I frowned. Does he deem my guards unworthy of offering maximum security? I asked myself.
"Hmm"
"We werewolves are very good hunters and I am not saying the vampires aren't, but we fish out people faster with smell, we don't have to do all the guard duty, just put some of us on guard duty too. I have brought warriors from my kingdom too and they would be of good use, I know your people have not fully accepted my daughter yet, and I don't want anybody trying to do something stupid on that day, so I am doing this for my daughter's protection and nothing more," he said and I smiled, very pleased.
"Fine, Baron Rhys will see to deploying your men at strategic positions around the castle walls," I said and with that, everybody went on with their meal. I was done with mine a while ago so I just sat there watching Freda eat, she was beautiful even under the dim dining light and she was mine.
Dinner was over and everybody cleared out of the dining room.
"King Damien," Lady Daphne said, calling my attention the moment I rose to my feet.
"Yes," I answered.
"A moment please," she said and I turned to Freda.
"It's fine, I will just take a walk with Kara and meet you back at the chambers," she said and I nodded following Daphne to a corner.
