Christie's POV.

A lot had been happening since the arrival of Her Majesty's family members. Who knew werewolves would be difficult to handle, being half-breed can be quite difficult and the queen-to-be has made me realize that from her sense of view.

It had been from one hassle to another around. Three days had passed since their arrival and no one seemed to be getting along with each other. I guessed the union of both families might never fully work out.

"Don't be a lazy sack of potatoes and go get her Majesty's food ready, don't see what she sees in you that grants you favor but that is with her, here in the kitchen you earn such favor" an older maid in the kitchen said to me as she walked past me carrying a tray with teapots in it.

'You don't reply, You don't speak when you aren't spoken to, and you ought to do your job like you were assigned to'. I said under my breath reciting the little mantra I made for myself and it had kept me out of trouble, even Lady Agatha has steered clear from me since I started doing some of my jobs properly

"You talking to me hybrid?" The maid said, dropping the tray and walking towards me.

"N-no ma'am" I muttered, embracing myself for the usual slap that follows. Lady Agatha had surely gotten her angry and she was here to pour that anger on, it was not the first time and I had learned to take it.

"But I heard you say something," she said, bending down to look at my face.

"I-I am sorry" I replied and got up immediately hurrying towards the main kitchen to pack up Freda's food. I could tell the maid didn't like how I reacted but luckily she didn't follow me into the kitchen.

Once her food was arranged neatly on the trolley, I rolled it out of the kitchen. The distance from Her Highness's resting place to the kitchen was not so far but with the varieties of food prepared I had to use a trolley, His Highness had demanded we feed her with the regular six courses we serve at the dining table.

As I walked past the music room I saw Verestina with one of the queen's guests. I was certain it was Lilly, her step-sister, talking. It was the third time today seeing them together.

I didn't mean to poke my nose or eavesdrop, but I did. The queen would surely like to know what they talked about. I said to myself as I made my way to the chambers.

I arranged my garments and apron well before placing a knock on the door.

"Come" I heard her soft voice say and I pushed the large door open before pushing the trolley inside and closing the door.

"Hello Christie," she said softly and I smiled. She was the only person to ever treat me nicely, well she and Lady Agatha's son.

She had no reason to like me but she did, I knew she related well to being a half-breed probably that's why we clicked a bit. Irrespective I could do and was ready to do anything for her.

"Your breakfast is… what's wrong? You don't look as happy as you sound" I asked, frowning.

"It's nothing, Christie" she suddenly beamed with a smile. "I am starving, those foods look delicious" She dragged the trolley over to herself, tasting some of the food already.

"Well, I might have more interesting things to tell you" I sat beside her like she would always want me to. "I might have overheard a conversation between Verestina and Lilly."

Her eyes shot up. Her mood had been down since the visit and she mostly stayed in her room. I did all I could to cheer her up and I was especially glad I did a great job at that. I had only seen her out with the family for dinner and she was back inside with King Damien.

"What are they talking about?" Her curiosity sparked.

"King Damien. They have rather become sudden friends talking about your husband, My queen. Verestina mentioned how being in the house could give her access to the king and Lilly is in support of it."

Freda continued eating like she was unbothered, but I knew somewhere she was worried about it. "Do you think they can be successful?" She asked after a moment of long silence.

"My queen…"

"Damien is in love with me. Verestina or whatever she is called is no match. She can only try"

I smiled, loving the confidence she had in the king. "It's beautiful to watch how much you trust King Damien. However, she had known him longer…maybe there was a weak spot that she could easily target…and that is what she is preparing for."

Her mind wavered for some time again.

"My queen, I don't mean to say King Damien is capable of cheating. I was just saying…"

"That's enough, Christie. Thank you for the information. You could still keep an eye on them for me. Especially when she tries to go close to my mate"

"I will do that." I beamed with a smile as I watched her eat. We spent more time talking about food, books, and the castle. She seemed to ask for more information about the castle's map and I told her as much as I knew.

She was on her way to becoming a royal, and I would do my best to give her all the information she required.

After a long chat with the queen. "You're my favorite person, Christie" she had said to me, and my face was pink with blush. I was happy I had her and being her maid was the best thing ever. I wanted it to be like this always, I wanted to be her favorite person.

I left her room, rolling out the trolley and heading back to the kitchen when a body hit mine. I looked up, startled to see who it was.
