While others seek survival, I engage in flirtation Chapter 15: Threat
He was holding this sharp tool that looked kinda like an axe. It didn't seem like it was for chopping wood, more like a weapon. But even a sharp weapon couldn't save him from the wolf's jaws.
I shook the blood off my hands and wiped my face before heading back to camp.
Besides Ivy, there was no one else around.
"Nothing happened, right?" I asked Ivy, just to be sure.
Ivy replied, "Nothing."
We checked the perimeter of the camp and called out a few times, realizing that there was no one left, but the stuff outside the tents was neatly arranged.
I showed Ivy the axe-like tool I had just found, and her eyes lit up.
"With this, things will be much easier." She grabbed the axe, but it was a bit heavy for her, and she struggled to lift it.
I put the axe away and grabbed some other items from the camp.
The people who had set up the tents here had already left, leaving everything up for grabs. If I could carry it all, I would have.
For now, I could only take the useful stuff.
I was about to enter the tent to pack some supplies when I was stunned the moment I opened the flap.
The inside was a mess, and the supplies had been looted.
I could only find some usable cloth scraps and containers.
This camp must have been raided, and nothing was left!
I worked so hard to save people, and in the end, I got nothing... Well, not nothing, at least I found an axe.
With this, I could continue expanding the camp.
Ivy and I were about to leave when we saw two figures in the distance running in the direction I had just come from.
"What's wrong?" Ivy hadn't seen Matt and his crew, so she didn't recognize them, but I knew who they were right away.
I slowly approached them while explaining to Ivy what had happened before.
To be honest, when I saw them, I suddenly realized that they were very likely the culprits behind this mess.
The camp's supplies had been looted, and at the same time, someone was attacked by a wolf.
The supplies couldn't have been taken by the wolf!
The ones who took the supplies were probably them, and if I wasn't mistaken, they were heading to the place where I had just killed the wolf.
They were probably the ones hiding in the woods, watching. After I killed the wolf, they immediately went there to see if they could find any spoils.
"So they might have deliberately lured the wolf here, and even..." Ivy didn't finish her sentence, but I knew what she meant.
They might have even killed the people in the camp.
Someone in the camp was killing birds, so there were bloodstains everywhere. We didn't pay attention at the time, but now that I think about it, weren't there too many bloodstains?
Ivy and I quickly sneaked up behind the two men, close enough to hear their conversation.
"Do you think wolf meat is edible?" They squatted in front of the wolf's corpse, looking at each other.
"This guy smells like urine, I'm not eating it!" The other man immediately covered his nose in disgust, "But the fur is pretty good, we can skin it."
As he was about to start, Ivy tugged at my sleeve, looking at me angrily.
I knew she wasn't mad at me, but at the two guys who had caused so many deaths.
I nodded to Ivy, then knocked one guy out with a stick and jabbed the other in the back with it.
"Did you lure the wolves here?" I asked, pointing to the stiffened wolf corpse before me and then gesturing towards the other body not far away.
They immediately shook their heads.
"We saw the wolf run into the camp, and everyone ran away, so we thought we'd take some supplies back." The guy's eyes still had a hint of fear, but he was much calmer than before.
"Then we saw you fighting the wolf... We haven't had meat in a long time, so we wondered if the wolf meat was edible..." They were practically drooling, and I didn't think they were lying.
But that didn't change the fact that they had looted the camp's supplies.
"Where did you put the supplies?" I didn't want to fight anyone; I just wanted the supplies they took, "Just the five of you?"
"Yes, we took the supplies back to our camp." Initially, they were reluctant to speak, but as soon as I raised my fist, they immediately confessed everything.
It seemed they didn't have the guts to lure the wolf to harm people.
According to them, Matt had been eyeing this camp for a long time.
There were a lot of supplies here, including essential items like medicine.
They had been here before, and the people in the camp were friendly, even inviting them to stay and wait for rescue. But Matt had insulted the camp's leader and even got into a fight with him.
As a result, they were kicked out of the camp, and the people in the camp started to reject any newcomers.
Matt was such a jerk! I couldn't understand his behavior!
At a time like this, not only did he refuse to help each other, but how could he have been so cold-hearted and callous!
I followed the two men to Matt's current camp. About 300 feet from the camp, I knocked the two men out and then quietly approached their camp.
I had Ivy hide while I sneaked up behind Matt, but he seemed to sense someone nearby and immediately became alert.
Seeing his reaction, I didn't hide anymore. I jumped out of the bushes and pointed my spear at him.
"You took so many supplies, shouldn't you share some with us?" I moved the spear closer to him.
Matt seemed a bit scared, but he didn't surrender immediately, claiming he didn't know anything about the supplies.
"They said you took them!" Ivy couldn't stand it anymore and stood up from the bushes.
I kept pressing him, and he finally admitted that he had taken some supplies.
But he didn't take much. They just filled their backpacks and left.
"I've told you everything I know." He smirked lecherously, "I didn't expect a beauty like Ivy to follow you."
"Then why was the camp such a mess?" I continued to question, but Matt claimed he didn't know anything else.
"Where did you put the supplies?" I jabbed him with the spear again.
Matt reluctantly glanced at the large cave beside him, where indeed several fully packed backpacks were stored.
