This discovery made me so happy. It meant we could recharge our flashlights.

As long as our flashlights could be reused, our exploration and work would become much easier.

"Don't you think there's something weird down there?" Moon suddenly pointed underwater.

I followed her finger and spotted something deep below. I could just barely tell it didn't belong in the water.

I couldn't be sure if it would harm us.

Just as I was hesitating about whether to dive in and check it out, Moon, on the other side, suddenly started taking off her clothes.

"Moon!" Seeing this, I immediately stripped down and jumped into the water, swimming to the other side.

Moon heard me call her name and was startled, stopping her actions immediately.

"What's wrong?" She watched me swim over and climb out of the water before she slowly spoke.

Sometimes I couldn't figure out if this woman was smart or just plain foolish.

If you said she was clever, she often acted unpredictably. Yet, if you called her foolish, she always noticed details that escaped the rest of us.

And besides, she was a writer!

"What are you doing?" Initially, I was a bit angry at her actions, but seeing her like this, I didn't know what to say.

At that moment, Moon was looking at me, her hands lifting her dress.

To be precise, she had already lifted her dress above her chest and was about to take it off. Underneath, she was only wearing a thin pair of panties and a lace bra, her fair skin glowing in the sunlight, making it impossible to look away.

"Of course, I'm going to check it out!" She said matter-of-factly, taking off her dress.

The sight in front of me left me speechless. I swallowed hard, trying to regain my composure.

"I mean, there might be something dangerous down there." Seeing her half-naked body, I felt too embarrassed to scold her.

I could only soften my tone, trying to explain the potential dangers underwater.

"But aren't you curious about what's down there?" She looked at me, her eyes clear and questioning.

I should have known she never did things the usual way! But I had to admit, what Moon said did make me curious.

We'd barely scratched the surface of the island's mysteries, with too few clues to go on.

Moon had tried using hypnosis to awaken the memories of the strange people, but it seemed like it would take a long time.

After that, Moon tried hypnotizing those two strange people again, but the results were similar. We still had only a vague understanding of the "Red Nightingale."

I looked at the faintly visible object underwater, then at Moon's body, and finally gritted my teeth, making my decision.

"If anything goes wrong, call me!" I pointed to our luggage and clothes, then patted Charlie's head. He immediately understood my intention and obediently sat by the shore, guarding our things.

Moon and I dove underwater, swimming towards the strange object.

With my previous diving experience, I quickly reached the depths and approached the strange thing in the water.

At that moment, a slender figure swam past me. Moon was much better at swimming than I was, moving like a nimble fish, reaching the strange object before me.

"Metal ball..." She picked it up and examined it for a while, then wrote something in the sand at the bottom.

Metal ball? Was she talking about the metal ball I had?

I immediately took out the metal ball from my clothes. Before this, I had asked Margaret to sew a pocket inside my clothes to keep important things.

The black metal ball in my hand was a dead ringer for Moon's. Same material, same size.

But there weren't any metal pillars like the ones in that small building around here, let alone any related facilities.

I put the metal ball back in my pocket and swam deeper.

The water pressure here was much higher than at the surface. As I swam deeper, I felt the strain.

Watching Moon swim effortlessly deeper, I tried to speed up by stroking harder.

Unexpectedly, I suddenly felt weak and out of breath, my vision blurring.

My limbs wouldn't respond, and I kept sinking. Just as the light was about to disappear, I felt a pair of soft hands on my back, effortlessly supporting me.

Then, the light was blocked by something, and warm lips pressed against mine.

Air! I felt the breath and opened my eyes.

In front of me were Moon's slightly closed eyes, her eyelashes trembling with the water.

That breath of air instantly revived me, and Moon opened her eyes too. She looked at me for two seconds, then smiled and lightly touched my lips with her finger.

She then turned around and pointed deeper underwater.

There seemed to be a mechanism there, but it was too far to see clearly. I had no choice but to follow Moon, swimming to the front of the mechanism.

As I got closer, I realized it was more of a gate than a mechanism.

On the other side of the rusty iron bars was a long staircase, half submerged in water, the other half extending above the surface.

At that moment, without even looking at me, Moon swam over and pulled the mechanism.

After a few metallic creaks, the rusty gate slowly lifted. Moon and I immediately swam towards the surface.

"How did you know about this mechanism?" I asked, puzzled, as Moon was fixing her wet hair.

"I guessed. I wrote a novel about mechanisms and secret rooms before." She was as excited as ever when talking about her novels.

Now I understood why even someone like Matt had warned me to keep my distance from Moon.

This girl was just too unpredictable! Definitely a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

She dared to touch an underwater mechanism based on a guess. If it had trapped us underwater, we'd be in big trouble!

But the immediate priority was to explore our surroundings. This place looked similar to the small building we had been to before, but it seemed more orderly.
