While others seek survival, I engage in flirtation Chapter 16: Stay Closer to Me

6 min 79K views

I handed the stone spear in my right hand to Ivy, telling her to keep an eye on Matt and make sure he didn't try anything funny.

I switched the axe from my left hand to my right and walked over to the cave.

I grabbed some useful meds and food from the supplies, along with a few other things.

Ever since I woke up on this deserted island, I've been super cautious with every step I take outside the camp, always on the lookout for traps or shady people.

I knew that the scariest thing in this world was people.

So even now, I was being extra careful. I kept a close watch on Matt, worried he might try something with Ivy.

Luckily, he seemed to be wary of me and didn't put up a fight.

After packing up the supplies, I called Ivy to head out with me.

For some reason, I felt like something was off, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"It's so annoying!" She had been swatting at something since earlier, looking really irritated.

"What's wrong?" I asked, puzzled.

"There are so many little bugs here, flying around and driving me crazy!" she said, slapping her leg again.

A smear of light red liquid was left on her leg.

"Really? How did I not notice?" I looked around, surprised.

The little flying bugs didn't come near me. I hadn't noticed there were so many insects here.

"You can stay closer to me; maybe the bugs won't bite you then." I pulled Ivy into my arms.

She didn't resist and let me hold her as we walked out of the woods.

Ivy's bra had already been dismantled by me to make a fire starter. She was wearing nothing underneath except a barely-there top that couldn't cover her chest. Her ample breasts swayed gently with her steps right under my nose.

Her body occasionally brushed against mine, her skin smooth and firm, each touch feeling like a gentle caress.

This sensation made me savor it repeatedly. If we weren't on a deserted island, I would definitely want to fully enjoy this feeling.

But I knew now wasn't the time to think about that. I pulled my thoughts back and still felt something was off about that cave.

The cave looked like a natural one, which was my initial thought, but now that I think about it, the inner walls were too smooth, and the size and shape were too regular.

But all of this was just speculation; I had no evidence to prove there was any secret behind the cave, so I didn't tell Ivy my suspicions.

Whatever guesses I had would have to wait for another time to verify.

We were carrying too many supplies and needed to get them back to camp quickly to proceed with our next tasks.

But what I didn't expect was that Matt would follow us.

After walking for a while, we suddenly heard faint noises behind us. I pretended not to hear and quietly informed Ivy of the situation.

"Can you handle them by yourself?" she asked, looking at me with some concern.

I nodded and slowed my pace. Ivy soon walked off into the distance, and Matt finally made his appearance.

He was holding a stick and emerged from the bushes beside me, blocking my path.

"You don't really think I'm scared of you, do you?" he snarled, shaking the stick in his hand before charging at me.

I still had the sharp axe in my hand. As he rushed at me, I immediately pressed the axe against his neck.

In an instant, Matt's face turned pale, and the stick in his hand fell to the ground.

"Cail, I think we can actually talk this out," he suddenly changed his tone, forcing a smile.

What a joke! Didn't he just say he wasn't afraid of me? Now he was begging for mercy?

Although I didn't intend to kill him, I also didn't plan to let him go just like that. I knew he was hiding something from me.

"Spill it, is there something you're not telling me?" I pressed the axe closer to his neck.

"What could I possibly be hiding from you!" he said impatiently, "I just want to get those supplies back!"

Looking at the axe in my hand, he swallowed hard and suddenly changed his mind, saying he didn't want the supplies anymore.

But at this point, I had too many questions in my mind, and there was no way I would let him go.

"What's the deal with that cave? Did you guys dig it out?" I raised my voice a few notches.

When I first left the camp, I thought the cave might have been dug by them, but along the way, I felt something was off.

Wasn't the cave too smooth? It looked like many people had lived there, and the size didn't seem like something Matt and his group could have dug out in just a few days.

"Does it matter? There should be many such caves on this island!" he didn't seem to find anything unusual and thought I was making a big deal out of nothing, "I already said I don't want the supplies anymore. You wouldn't really kill me, would you?"

We both knew neither of us would actually kill anyone, at least not now.

I let Matt go and immediately went to catch up with Ivy. She had walked ahead for a while; I didn't know if she was still safe, and it was getting late. We needed to get back to camp quickly.

Thinking about this, I started running. But halfway there, I realized Ivy was nowhere to be seen.

"Ivy?" I called out, but there was no response.

I started to panic. She was just beside me a few minutes ago, and now she was gone? I kept calling her name while retracing my steps.

It wasn't until I got near the camp that I saw Ivy. She was packing up the unoccupied tents.

"Ivy!" I admit, at that moment, I was just relieved she wasn't in danger. I hugged her tightly, repeatedly telling her not to do that again.

My original plan was for her to return to our camp, but she had come back to this deserted camp!

"I didn't know what was happening with you... What if you needed my help?" Ivy said nonchalantly, almost bragging as she picked up the packed tents and other supplies, "I've already packed everything. Let's go back!"

Although I was still very nervous, since Ivy was fine, I couldn't say much more. We left the camp with the supplies and returned to our cave.

By the time we got back, it was completely dark. Margaret and Aimee were worried sick. They grabbed me and Ivy, checking if we were injured.

"We're fine." I gently pushed away Aimee, who was circling around me, "We got quite a haul this time."
