While others seek survival, I engage in flirtation Chapter 62: Trap

"Oh my God! What the hell is that noise?" Dennis was clearly losing it. After the racket stopped, he cursed and stomped over to the metal pillar.

There was now a solid ball about the size of a palm. It was obvious that the thing was pretty heavy as we watched Dennis struggle to lift it.

The ball, a pitch-black sphere with a faint metallic sheen, was made of the same material as the metal pillar. I'd never seen this stuff before; maybe it was some new tech the researchers cooked up.

For safety's sake, I gave the whole floor a thorough once-over. After making sure there were no other weird gadgets, I stashed the ball away.

The principle of this device wasn't rocket science. The metal ball fit perfectly into the groove of the pillar, sliding down the track slowly before hitting the ground.

I tried rubbing the ball against the iron pillar, and sure enough, it made that strange noise we just heard.

"Can we get out of this damn place? I don't want to die here too!" Matt's voice echoed sharply on the empty floor.

But he was right; no one wanted to die in a dump like this. We needed to get out of here ASAP.

On this island, crazy stuff happened almost every day. Besides just surviving, I had to deal with and respond to immediate problems, which had made my instincts razor-sharp. I always felt there were secrets here we hadn't uncovered yet.

I exchanged glances with the others, and we headed downstairs together.

As we descended, I felt the stairs shaking.

The dust had settled here long ago, indicating no one had lived here for ages. The old, rickety wooden stairs had decayed considerably and creaked like crazy as we walked on them.

"We're not gonna fall off these stairs, are we?" Dennis, who was leading, asked while dragging Matt behind him.

At his words, the two girls visibly panicked, hesitating and immediately grabbing the handrails.

"It's okay, you can stay close to me. If anything happens, I can save you." Before I finished speaking, the two girls moved closer to me.

I wasn't wearing a shirt, just a pair of pants made from fabric taken from another camp.

Lilian grabbed my wrist with one hand and held the railing with the other. Moon directly hugged my arm, pressing her whole body against mine.

I had to admit, a girl's body was incredibly soft. Sometimes, I even thought being stranded on this island wasn't such a bad thing.

At least, since coming to this deserted island, the girls I met were all beautiful and relied on me a lot. Outside of this island, I wouldn't have had such opportunities to be close to so many pretty girls.

Not to mention, I got to spend time with my idol Ivy and even kissed her! In the past, that was something I couldn't even dream of.

We slowly made our way downstairs. As we reached the second floor, the stairs shook even more, and the two girls clung to me tighter.

"Are these stairs really sturdy? We won't actually..." Lilian didn't finish her sentence, but we all knew what she meant.

If we fell, we'd all be in a world of hurt.

I took a deep breath and gently nudged the two girls forward. Moon nimbly jumped two steps ahead, landing on the second floor.

Lilian carefully walked down, followed by Dennis dragging Matt.

Seeing them safely reach the second floor, I slowly started to descend.

Unexpectedly, as soon as I took half a step, the stairs beneath me made a cracking sound.

Then, I felt myself falling, the sensation of weightlessness enveloping me as wood chips and debris rained down on me.

Instinctively, I curled up, protecting my chest with my arms to minimize the scrapes. The sudden fall caught me off guard, and it wasn't until I hit the ground that the pain started to register.

It was pitch black around me, with only a faint light coming from the hole above. I blinked hard to adjust my eyes and assess the situation.

Recalling what had just happened, I guessed this was the basement of the building. Even with the faint light, I could only vaguely see some wooden cleaning tools and unidentifiable wooden boxes around me. Could this be a storage room?

But there were many signs of human activity here, and it seemed like someone had been here recently. There was even a patch of dry grass under my feet as if someone had deliberately placed it there. Could someone else have fallen down the stairs? What a joke!

"Are you okay?" A voice shouted as it approached me. It sounded like Dennis.

"I'm fine!" I shouted back towards the hole I fell through, jumping a few times to try and grab the edge.

Unfortunately, even with my superior physical condition, I couldn't reach the edge of the hole.

"Oh my God! You fell from such a height, broke the stairs between the second and first floors, and you're still alive!" Moon was the first to come down, but she didn't seem too worried. Her eyes seemed to say, "I thought you were dead."

"Maybe I'm just lucky. There's some cushioning dry grass here." I shook my head helplessly and pointed to the grass beneath me.

"Are you hurt? Is it serious?" Lilian soon reached the hole, leaning over and extending her hand, her ample chest almost spilling out.

I was momentarily stunned, then noticed the blood around me. I had indeed bled a lot, but the wounds weren't too deep and were already starting to heal.

I waved at her and tried to grab her hand.

I admit, when I saw her chest pressed against the ground outside the hole, I felt a moment of gratitude for falling into this hole and getting to see such a beautiful sight.

But that thought quickly passed. My priority now was to get out of here.

I hadn't noticed while falling from the second floor, but there was a faint noise coming from outside the building. In the basement, the noise became clearer.

I listened carefully, lying on the ground to hear better. The distant noise grew louder, mixed with the vibrations of the ground.

"Something is coming this way! There are a lot of them." As I tried to discern the sounds, a sharp, piercing scream suddenly reached my ears.
