While others seek survival, I engage in flirtation Chapter 71: Unexpected Fight
I had no choice but to give up on sneaking a peek at her notebook and instead started to size her up.
We'd both just been underwater, exploring that grimy area beneath the small building together. I was drenched from head to toe, covered in sand and mud. But Moon? She was soaked, yet there wasn't a single speck of dirt on her! She looked more like she had just taken a bath under a clear waterfall, her fair skin glowing with a faint blush.
I couldn't help but swallow hard.
No guy could resist such a sight! My body was already responding, even though we'd just come ashore. The chill from the water? Gone. Completely.
Instead, I felt a burning heat all over.
"Carl, you're blushing." Moon had finished putting on her dress and stared at me for a while before suddenly leaning in and whispering in my ear with her ethereal voice.
We were so close that I had nowhere to hide, so I had to meet her gaze. Her lips curved slightly, and her cheeks had a faint pink hue.
Her eyes were as clear as ever. Every time I saw Moon like this, I could never guess what she was thinking.
"Am I?" I quickly averted my gaze, only to have it land on her impressive figure.
The water on her body made her clothes cling tightly to her chest, outlining her curves perfectly.
As a man, I couldn't tear my eyes away from such a sight.
"What's that over there?" Moon asked, her lips curling into a slight smile. Then, her gaze shifted to something behind me.
Her smile was captivating, but I couldn't afford to be distracted by the beautiful scene in front of me.
We were so close that I could clearly see her wet clothes clinging to her body and the reflection in her eyes.
Two creepy green lights flashed in her eyes—something behind me was watching, and it didn't look good.
I spun around and locked eyes with a pair of glowing green orbs.
I was confident in my physical abilities. Even if it was a fierce beast, it wouldn't stand a chance against me.
But before I could move towards the bushes, a low growl came from that direction. Two more pairs of those chilling eyes appeared in the bushes.
Soon, several large, wolf-like creatures emerged from the bushes.
Honestly, they looked like wolves from every angle. But I couldn't believe how big these "wolves" were.
Their fur was silver-gray and crazy thick, their teeth razor-sharp, and their eyes were downright menacing—nothing like the gray wolves we had encountered before.
I quickly turned to Moon for help, only to see her calmly tying her hair back.
Not a hint of fear on her face—if anything, she looked even calmer than usual. It was as if these creatures posed no threat to her at all.
Seeing her like this, I was at a loss.
Although I trusted Moon's abilities, she was being too calm. These creatures in front of us didn't look easy to deal with!
But Moon didn't seem to care about these creatures at all. She even took a few excited steps towards the wolves.
"Arctic wolves! They're supposed to be chilling in the Arctic. What the hell are they doing here?" she said, walking up to the alpha and running her fingers through its fur. "Their fur's soft and thick. Rare stuff. A coat made from this can handle -60 degrees. Worth a fortune!"
Honestly, I never thought their fur was so valuable. And I was even more surprised by how much Moon knew!
According to Moon, the fur from these wolves could've bought a whole house out there in the real world.
"Although it's valuable, these creatures are endangered and protected worldwide," she seemed to read my mind. "Don't even think about trading their fur for money. Besides, if it weren't for our current situation, we wouldn't have the chance to see them."
Moon shook her head as she slowly drew the small knife she always carried from her waist.
Honestly, I couldn't figure out where Moon had pulled the knife from; she was wearing a dress!
But now wasn't the time to ask her. We had a few fierce wolves in front of us!
The wolves' eyes never left Moon and me, but they seemed to recognize the knife in my hand and didn't dare to approach me rashly.
I didn't waste a second—while they were still sizing us up, I darted forward and shoved the lead wolf's snout down with one hand. With the other, I jammed the knife straight into its eye.
Blood splattered instantly, and the wolf let out a piercing scream, struggling violently.
After I pulled the knife out, it quickly lost strength due to blood loss, its struggles slowing down.
I watched as its mouth gradually drooped, its limbs twitching slightly, and its breathing became weak.
The whole process only lasted a few seconds before the wolf stopped moving.
Meanwhile, Moon swiftly slit the throat of another wolf, which barely had time to react before it was dead.
As we fought the wolves, Charlie also jumped in, grappling with another wolf.
Charlie wasn't originally a hunting or attacking breed, but these days, it had been exceptionally brave. Every time we encountered danger, it was the first to charge in, and it seemed to understand what I was saying.
Charlie was now wrestling with an Arctic wolf, which was already covered in bite marks, its blood staining its fur black and red.
Charlie seemed even more fierce than the day we encountered the gray wolves on the cliff. It had some blood on it too, but I couldn't tell if it was the Arctic wolf's or Charlie's.
Soon, the life-and-death struggle ended. It was clear that Charlie had won.
The wolf was barely alive, staggering to its feet and slowly retreating in one direction.
I was about to finish it off when I suddenly heard Moon's voice behind me.
"Don't kill it yet." Her clear voice made me stop in my tracks.
