While others seek survival, I engage in flirtation Chapter 41: Expelled from the Camp
But now, it felt like all hope was gone.
But you know what? That was okay. At least I didn't have to worry about the gorgeous women around me falling for other guys.
Since they didn't want us here, there was no point in sticking around.
I marched into the camp and called the girls over.
"We're outta here. They don't want us," I said, and started leading the girls away.
Abbott didn't try to stop us, but then Nora stepped in between me and him.
"Why are you kicking him out? He's helped us so much, even went to find that weirdo with you; he can't be a bad guy!" Nora was clearly upset, standing up for me.
"Maybe it was to distract us so they could burn the place down!" Abbott was getting more and more worked up, and I couldn't figure out why.
"They're not with Matt!" Nora was almost in tears, her eyes already glistening.
"If you're so sure, then go with them!" Abbott was dead set, which totally caught me off guard.
We weren't originally part of Abbott's camp, so I could kinda get why he was acting this way, but Nora was one of them.
How could he just kick her out like that?
I gently patted Nora's shoulder, signaling her to stop.
I knew if she kept defending me, she wouldn't be able to stay in the camp either.
"I get it, we're leaving." With that, I got ready to leave with the girls and Charlie.
"But..." Nora's voice was shaky.
"Enough! If you trust them so much, then go with them."
I couldn't believe how cold Abbott was. They were campmates, how could he treat Nora like this?
"Abbott! You're being a jerk!" I finally snapped.
I thought he was a decent guy. Now, I realized I was wrong about him.
Abbott didn't say a word, didn't even look at me, and just went back to the camp.
Nora was left standing outside.
"It's okay... come with us." I walked over to Nora and gently hugged her.
She was probably too upset, and as soon as I put my arm around her, she collapsed into my arms.
"I didn't do anything... why..." She was so hurt, and I didn't know how to comfort her.
I just let her cry on my shoulder, then took her back to our cave.
I lit the fire in the middle of the cave, and the whole place was instantly filled with a cozy glow.
"Don't be sad." I looked at Nora sitting by the fire, still looking down, and the other girls and I were really worried.
She had just been kicked out of the camp because of that mess, and we didn't know what to say to cheer her up.
"It's done, and I'm not leaving you alone." I flexed my arm, showing off my muscles, "I'll protect you!"
Nora looked at me and finally smiled through her tears, giving my arm a gentle poke.
I straightened up right away, showing off my abs.
"If you want, you can touch here too," I said with a grin. "As long as it cheers you up."
Nora said she wasn't really sad, just a bit thrown off by the sudden change. She'd been with Abbott's camp for a month and never thought he'd kick her out like that.
"I'm just not used to it yet. It's a lot quieter here than over there." After dinner, she sat at the cave entrance, sighing softly.
Of course, our camp was way smaller and less equipped than Abbott's.
Charlie seemed to pick up on her mood too, sticking close to her all evening, rubbing his furry head against her knee.
Just like that, after the first night, Nora started to settle in.
Our camp had a new beautiful member.
The next morning, I woke up to see a pure and handsome face right in front of me, with big eyes staring at me.
"What's up?" I met Nora's gaze, unsure if I should sit up.
If I moved even a little, my lips would touch her forehead.
"Tell me the truth, are you different from before?" Her question suddenly reminded me of my life before the island.
I had gotten used to this body now—running fast, jumping high, and being super strong—but my original body... couldn't do any of that.
"There have been some changes." I kissed her forehead before sitting up.
Nora pulled back a bit but didn't get mad, just touched her forehead.
"You weren't always this fit... I remember you being really skinny before." She walked around me, examining me for a long time, then poked my abs, looking puzzled.
"You're right." I nodded, not planning to hide it. "I changed when I got to this island."
I had actually talked about this with Margaret. When I was washed ashore, I was in a coma, feeling really heavy, almost swallowed by the sea.
After that, my body started to change.
And not just my body—my strength, reaction speed... all my physical abilities improved a lot.
I told all this to Nora, and she immediately started circling around me, deep in thought.
"Do you feel any discomfort or anything weird?" Nora looked at me like I was a lab rat.
Her words and looks made me uneasy.
"No, besides getting stronger, nothing else has changed." I waved my fist, trying to show her I was fine.
But she still seemed skeptical, pinching my arm and my stomach.
"You look completely different from before." She said, lightly tapping my chest with her fist. "I think there's something strange going on."
Her attitude made me feel even more like a lab rat.
