Healing His Broken Luna.... Chapter 102
Chapter 15 - Storm
I felt warm arms around me, strong warm arms. The delicious smell of sweet vanilla and earthy spice filled my nose. The most comforting sound was drumming up against my ear. It was someone's strong heartbeat. My eyes fluttered open and Alpha Lukas was carrying me as he walked down Fifth Avenue.
I wondered where he was taking me. Probably somewhere private to kill me. I lifted my head up and he noticed I was awake. He didn't set me down but kept walking. I wiggled around trying to get down and he held on to me tighter.
"It's okay, we're almost to my hotel." He said to me.
I couldn't possibly let him take me to his hotel. I wouldn't give up without a fight. The good thing about the streets of New York is that they are always hustling and bustling with people. I made another attempt to push myself free of him and jump out of his arms. I landed on the sidewalk and he looked at me, unsure of what to do.
I seized advantage of the moment and darted off like the little mouse he thinks I am in between traffic. Being little has its advantages, I was able to quickly dart to the other side of the street and make a run for the subway one block up. I bobbed and weaved around people and could sense him behind me.
"SYBLE. WAIT." He called out.
That's when I heard it. I heard a howling in my head as I ran off. I ran down the subway stairs and reached into my purse for my metro card. I swiped the card and could feel him thundering down the stairs.
The subway was getting ready to depart and I barely managed to squeeze between the closing doors. I turned around and caught a glimpse of him standing on the platform. A part of me I didn't recognize wanted to run back to him.
"SYBLE. SYBLE." He banged on the subway door as it pulled away. I stood frozen in place looking into his blue eyes as the train pulled away. A whimper slipped from my lips as I fought back tears.
I sat quietly in the subway, thinking about what had just happened. Would he try to find me again? I needed to get home and just hide. To lay low. Now that he knows I'm in the city he's going to continue to hunt me down. Any rational wolf or person would leave New York.
My living expenses were so minimal, I had saved up four thousand dollars from working in the kitchen and helping Mr. Lee at his restaurant. Maybe now would be a good time to move to Florida or California. The train came to a stop and I realized I was no longer in Manhattan but in Queens. We stopped at Queensboro Plaza and I got off the N train and jumped on the Seven train that would return me close to home.
It was almost five when I reached my neighborhood. The sky was dark, the wind blowing, and rain was expected any moment now. I was off work tonight and would have to pick dinner up. I stopped at Mr. Lee's for my favorite Chinese food. I usually work about twenty hours a week during the days helping him. He's become one of my favorite people in New York, and he's a great cook.
"Syble." He greeted me. "Oh, your hair looks very good." He smiled. I gave him a warm smile and nodded my head back to thank him.
"What are you doing out in this weather? It's going to start raining?" He asked. I rubbed my hand over my stomach to indicate that I was here for food.
"You go home before the rain starts. I'll have Fernando bring it to you." He said. Fernando was a young man about my age who delivered food for Mr. Lee. I didn't even need to tell Mr. Lee what to make me, he knew my usual. I gave Mr. Lee a thumbs up and waved goodbye. As I walked out, I scented a wolf I didn't recognize entering the restaurant and kept my head down. He was large in size and had a strong aura that made me nervous.
The wind was whipping around pretty hard and it felt energizing. Raindrops started falling as I unlocked the door to my apartment building. I took the stairs up to the third floor. I was just over the side of the restaurant. The first and second level of the building was occupied by the bar and restaurant which had a high ceiling.
I entered my studio apartment and locked the door behind me. It was small, but it was all mine. My bed was up against the red brick accent wall and the television hung on the opposite wall. I had purchased pillows, additional sheets, a big blanket, alarm clock, a purple fluffy saucer chair to sit in, a plant for my window and a folding tray table. I had also purchased a few books to help pass the time away when there was nothing interesting to watch on the television. I had no idea that fifty shades would make me blush so much or that humans mated in such unusual ways.
I pulled my fuzzy saucer chair over to the single window I had and cracked it open so I could hear the rain fall. I curled up in the chair with the blanket and waited for my food. His blue eyes seemed to haunt me. Moon Goddess he was so handsome. I could meet dozens of other Alphas in my lifetime and none would compare to him. There was something about him that was entirely different.
I tried to recall what happened today at the park, when he touched me. I couldn't seem to remember anything, maybe the fear pumping through me overwhelmed me. There was a buzz at the intercom downstairs, I'm sure it was Fernando with the food. I walked to the intercom system by my front door and pressed the button to unlock the outside building door into the lobby.
Moments later, Fernando knocked on the door and I pulled it open. He was wearing a raincoat and held a bag out with Chinese takeout cartons. I tried to pay him, but he wouldn't take my money.
"No way, it's on me." He smiled.
I smiled back and rolled my eyes. He was such a nice guy. He was studying to be a schoolteacher at a local college.
"I like what you've done with your hair." He noticed my new hair. "The weather sure is nasty outside tonight. Are you doing anything fun?" He asked.
I shrugged my shoulders and picked up the first book in the stack I had to indicate that I would be spending the night reading.
"Oh, that's a classic!" He winked at me and grinned. I immediately looked at the book I had grabbed and was horrified as I tucked fifty shades behind my back.
"Enjoy your night. I'll see you at work on Sunday?" He smiled.
I waved goodbye and smiled as I closed the door. I brought the folding tray table over by the window and set the food on top of it. I grabbed the chop sticks and ate beef Chop Suey and chicken Lo Mein from the carton.
Seeing Alpha Lukas brought back so many memories I wanted to forget. The last two months of my life have been great. I hated having to live in fear again. It took a few weeks for me to settle in and get comfortable, now I was going to have to be extra cautious again knowing he's out there hunting me.
He could have easily snapped my neck and left me in the park, but he didn't. Was he trying to take me back to Alpha Jaxon for punishment? Donatella was ready to kill me for something I didn't do. She deserved what she got. I was only defending myself. They were all dogs. Rabid vicious dogs who showed no mercy and, they were after me.
The wind and rain continued to whip around outside; the tall buildings created a wind tunnel effect on the streets. I saw the night sky light up with lightening and a few seconds later the crack of thunder echoed off the buildings. There was so much power and strength that reverberated back I could feel it in my core. I stood looking out the window and something inside of me longed to be outside, as if some force was calling me.
I pulled the window open all the way and crawled out onto the fire escape. The metal stairs attached to the outside of buildings were created as emergency fire escape routes. Most people used them to sit on while getting some air or smoking.
I stood on the escape looking up at the sky. The rain hitting my face was cool and refreshing. The breeze wrapped around me like an old friend. The sky lit up again and the thunder rolled.
"You control the wind." I heard a voice inside of me whisper.
An energy was pulsing through my veins, I felt the urge to have the wind blow stronger and the gust picked up. I looked down at the blowing papers and debris on the sidewalk and imagined them blowing in a circular motion. When they started spinning in a whirl, I continued to watch wondering if the circle would get bigger. It continued to grow and looked more like a twister. The bigger it got, the more energized I felt.
I looked down at the garbage cans at the corner and focused on them. A strong gust hit them, and they toppled over, they rolled right into the intersection of the streets. The whirl of wind and garbage continued to grow and before I knew it, trees were bending with it.
"Stop, Stop." I thought internally and the garbage seemed to fall to the ground as the wind settled down. The rain continued to pelt down on the asphalt and my clothes were soaked through.
A car came to a screeching halt and swerved to keep from hitting the metal garbage cans. Unfortunately, the car behind that one didn't stop in time and smacked right into the back of the first car. I noticed other people were now peering out of their windows at the commotion and decided that I should probably crawl back into my little studio.
I closed the window and shut the blinds. Panic flooded me as I stood in place dripping water on the wood floor trying to decide if that really just happened. How is it even possible? I considered asking Lola but wasn't sure. I took the cartons of food and shoved them in my mini fridge. The heavy feeling of exhaustion and confusion hit me, but I decided to take a hot shower before crawling into bed.
Everything felt so surreal. I stood in the hot shower for a long time thinking about today's events. Maybe it was stress filled hallucinations. My mind drifted to Alpha Lukas' handsome face, the look in his eyes when he saw me, and how warm I felt in his arms when he carried me. The size of his bulging muscles and physical strength should have scared me but instead it caused an eruption of pleasure through me. His scent alone did the weirdest things to me and sent a wave of pleasure through my body. I stood shamelessly thinking about this gorgeous Alpha while I was naked in the shower. And what the hell is wrong with me? Why does he have such an effect on me?
"Mate." I heard the whisper in my head again.
"Mate?" I questioned in my head.
"Yes." The voice said.
"Am I hallucinating?" I must be going mad. First, I run into the very Alpha who wants me dead, and now I'm hearing voices.
"No, I'm your wolf."
"Wolf? Are you sure? I've never shifted."
"I would have killed you if we shifted. You're not strong enough yet Syble." She knew my name.
"I'm much stronger than I was a few months ago." I told her.
"Yes. Every day we grow stronger."
"What's your name?" I asked her.
"Storm."
