Healing His Broken Luna.... Chapter 114
Chapter 27 - Sungam
I felt Storm tense up just as an angry growl thundered out of Lukas, followed by a roar from Angelo and a growl from Camille. I noticed a big tree had been pushed into the water ahead to keep the boat trapped in the swamp. Over a dozen rogues stepped out.
"Clearly these idiots have no idea that our mate can easily manipulate nature." Storm scoffed.
I wanted to use my element to fight, but I wasn't exactly sure how to use it to my best advantage. With my luck, I'd probably end up blowing the boat over. I really needed to spend more time training, I reminded myself.
One of the rogues jumped, trying to leap into the boat and was met with a flying tree trunk that hit him. Another rogue followed behind him and a wave of mud hit him in the face. He dropped into the swamp and flailed around in the muddy waters. This was not the clear, rocky flowing, river water I was used to. This was a slow moving, muddy, sticky, marshy, Louisiana alligator infested swamp. Standing in shallow water was even difficult because of the sinking, soft, muddy ground.
Lukas opened up big muddy trenches on the wetlands and water sloshed up through them as several rogues fell in. Then he lifted up four water bubbles out of the swamp and floated them around rogue heads. A watched the rogues struggle to shake the bubbles off their heads as they drown. Two more rogues made it on the boat and Angelo jumped on one breaking his neck and throwing him overboard. Camille shifted her claws and plunged them into the other rogue's neck before Angelo grabbed him and threw him into the water as well. The scent of blood was sure to bring the alligators out.
Angelo reached into his pocket and pulled out a lighter. "Alpha!" He called out and lit the flame as Lukas smiled. Lukas held his hand out and flames danced in the palm of his hand. He drew his hand back and fired away.
A large wall of fire erupted at the waterline and shielded us from attacking rogues. Lukas continued to fling mud and balls of fire at the rogues on the other side of the fire wall, as if playing a sport. He blinded and then burned them.
"Wooh, let's make it six for six." Angelo shouted out as Lukas consistently dropped one wolf after another.
The driver of the boat shifted around, and I turned to see him nervously reaching for something. He was holding tight to a gun and glaring at me. Bullets wouldn't do much harm to a werewolf, unless of course, they had silver bullets. I quickly realized he wasn't intending to shoot any rogues.
"That Alpha is possessed by the Devil." He whispered to me.
He was planning on shooting Lukas while he was distracted fighting rogues. "Take him out." Storm growled at me.
I had no idea what to do. I reached out and smacked the gun out of his hand and it fell to the floor, beneath the seats. He bent over frantically trying to pick up the gun and I kicked him in the ribs. He gasped for air and before I knew it, I imagined myself sucking the life right out of him. I focused on suffocating him and took deep breaths as I imagined pulling the air out of his body. Alpha Dimitri believed I would someday be able to master this with my element.
"Don't stop." Storm was howling at the idea of anyone harming our mate.
He coughed and his eyes widened. I continued to suck air in through my puckered lips. The more breath I sucked into my lungs, the greater he thrashed. His face turned red and he flopped to the floor of the boat. He grabbed at his own neck as panic set in and his eyes rolled back. I continued to suck air in and watched as his body stiffened and convulsed. He stopped moving and was dead at my feet.
"Syble?" Lukas call to me and I realized the fighting was over.
"That was some bad ass shit!" Angelo said.
"He was going to shoot you." I whispered to Lukas.
Angelo reached down and grabbed the gun, then pulled out the clip. "They're silver."
"Speaking of silver, your eyes are a beautiful swirly silver." Camille said in awe as she stared at me.
"You saved us little mouse." Lukas said as he pulled me into him.
"Do you have magic of your own?" Camille asked Lukas.
"No, I'm elemental. Actually, we're both elemental." He said as he motioned to us.
"Cool." She smiled.
"The driver, was he from your pack?" Lukas asked her.
"No. He's from my former mates pack, the one who rejected me. But I thought he said he lived as a lone wolf in the city." Camille said.
"Any chance he would be working with rogues?" Lukas asked.
"Probably, but the swamps are huge and full of resources, we've never really had problems with rogues, unless they were drifters. I've never seen so many drifters running together, I'm not sure what to think Alpha." She said.
"What do we do with him?" I asked, looking down at the body.
"Alligator food! It's the circle of life." Angelo shrugged as he pushed the boat operator overboard.
"Alpha, if you could move that tree out of the way, we can get moving again. I can drive the air-boat." Camille smiled and took the driver's seat, which sat about a foot higher than our seats. Lukas cleared the fallen tree and a few others, to help maneuver the boat with ease. He also pulled the dead rogues deep into the earth.
Ten minutes later, we arrived at the marina we had left from. The ride was a little bumpy and Angelo was happy to be back on land. "I'm a land creature." Angelo uttered, looking a little motion sick.
We piled into the taxi and took it to the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain where the beautiful large homes were at. We walked up the lakefront trail that showcased the backside of spectacular homes separated from the lake with their iron gates to keep people out. The sun was going down quick and we walked fast trying to feel the energy of each home.
"Think he'll have booby traps around his house?" Angelo asked.
"No, but he might have spells or enchantments to keep others away." Camille replied.
"It's that one!" I pointed to the big beautiful Spanish style villa.
"How do you know?" Lukas asked me.
"The names of the houses are carved on the fence leading out to the lake. That one say's Sun Gam."
"Sun Gam?" Angelo asked.
"It's Magnus spelled backwards." I told them.
We walked down the path and found the access point that led out to the main road, to the front of the homes. We continued walking until we made it to the gate in front of Sun Gam Villa. There was an intercom with camera system and Lukas reached out and pressed the buzzer.
"Can I help you?" Came a man's voice from the box.
"We certainly hope you can. I'm Alpha Lukas LaRue Theodorus, I need to see Magnus."
We heard a buzzing noise and the gate rolled open. We walked up the path leading to the house and a sports car was parked in the front with licenses plates that said MAGNUS.
"Guess his flying broom must be broken." Angelo whispered.
We approached the ten foot door and a young woman greeted us. "Good Evening Alpha. Please follow me." She closed the door behind us, and we followed her down the hall.
"She's a witch." I heard Storm whisper to me.
We entered a library that seemed to not only have books on the shelves, but also jars and bottles. A distinguished looking man in his late forties, with dark brown hair and sparkling green eyes greeted us. The energy coming from him was very strong and I could also feel Lukas allowing his Alpha aura to flow.
"Alpha, to what do I owe the pleasure?" He smiled.
"I'm sorry to intrude like this. We're in dire need of your expertise." Lukas said.
"Dire, you say?" Magnus pulled out a rainbow looking monocle, held it to his eye and looked at each of us.
"It seems my mate has been cursed with a binding spell that doesn't allow her to shift."
Magnus kept the monocle in his eye, pulled out a large feather from a drawer and walked towards me. Magnus had a sandalwood scent to him. I nervously watched as he touched the feather to my forehead.
"This is a very powerful spell, it's ancient magic, possibly cast by another grand witch or warlock. As you know, there aren't many of us left. You will have to find the one who cast it, to fully break it."
"How do we find out who cast it? What if that person is dead?" Lukas asked.
"Whoever cast it, was physically near you. A tear would be required in the potion to bind the spell before you could drink it. Does anything sound familiar to you?" Magnus asked me.
"No. My memories prior to my parent's death are a little murky."
Magnus looked me over carefully and then walked back to the bookshelf. He reached for a book and thumbed through it, muttering something under his breath.
"I can give you a transfer potion to transfer the curse to someone else." Magnus said.
"I don't like where he's going with this." Storm said to me.
"How does it work?" Lukas asked.
"I would brew a potion sealing the spell to it. She adds a tear to the potion and a loved one must willingly drink the potion on the night of a full moon. Maybe a parent or grandparent who no longer needs their wolf. The binding curse then transfers to them and she's able to set her wolf free."
"Does it kill your wolf?" Lukas asked.
"No, it will only keep them from shifting, just as she is right now."
"Are you sure you can't break the curse?" I asked.
"I'm afraid not. But you can take the potion and continue to try to find the one who cast the curse." He said.
"How long until the potion is ready?" Lukas asked.
"No! I don't want anyone taking the potion for me." I said.
"We'll take it, just in case." Lukas insisted.
"I can have it ready tomorrow night. You can pick it up at HooDoo's in the French Quarter, after ten o'clock."
"Your fee?" Lukas asked.
"Seeing as I can't break it, this one's on the house."
"Lukas, Please." My voice was laced with worry. There's no way I would allow anyone to take the potion.
"We won't give them a tear." Storm said to me. If only one of us would be able to shift, she wanted it to be Luke.
"Take it. You don't have to use it. See if you can track the one who cast it first." Magnus told us.
"Thank you so much for your time Magnus. We won't intrude on you any longer. I'll see you tomorrow night at the French quarter." Lukas replied and we walked out of the library. The young witch led us to the door, and we left. It was dark out as we walked down the path to the main road and continued walking back towards the south shore marina to try and find another taxi.
"We need to talk to Alpha Trevor. Find out what he knows about Syble and her family. Maybe he can help us track the witch who cast the curse." Lukas said.
"Where is Alpha Trevor at?" Camille asked.
"Upstate New York, Blue Mountain Pack, in the Adirondacks." Angelo told her.
"So, I'm going to need to pack warm clothes." Camille smiled.
"I'll inform Mr. Miles to hire a replacement chef Camille, your home is now with us." Lukas told her and Angelo was practically floating.
"Any word from your parents on the other grand warlock in Toronto?" Angelo asked.
"No, I'll call them in the morning." Lukas said.
We finally made our way to the south shore marina and found a taxi to take us back to the city. Since Camille wasn't working in the kitchen tonight, we decided to have dinner at a steak house in the garden district. I sat quietly, feeling a little anxious about everything. Nothing good could come from that potion. Someone that loves me would have to willingly take it and the only person to ever love me, besides my parents and grandmother, is Lukas.
"Don't worry Syble, we'll figure this out." Camille smiled at me.
"Even if we find the one who cast the curse, how do we convince them to undo it?" I asked.
"If they refuse, you suck the life out of them!" Angelo smiled.
"Good evening, I'm Lois, I'll be your server tonight. Are you ready to order?" The young lady smiled at us, pen and pad in hand. We placed our food and drink order and she quickly hustled to the kitchen.
"That was pretty awesome, what you did on the boat." Camille said.
"Thank you. It just sort of happened, I guess."
"Yeah, you give a whole new meaning to, take my breath away." Angelo laughed. "Better watch yourself Alpha, she's only going to get better and better with her skill." He grinned.
