Healing His Broken Luna.... Chapter 103
Chapter 16 - Tornado
Lukas POV
I was left holding the bag with hair products and makeup. I returned to the hotel and explained everything to Angelo. He searched for Hell's Glam Salon and found a location in west midtown in the Hell's Kitchen area.
We took a car over to the Salon with the bag in hand, hoping someone there would know her. The salon closed early on Monday's and the sign noted it had already closed for the day.
"Well that sucks. Guess we'll just have to come back tomorrow." Angelo said.
"Let's drive around the neighborhood and see if anything interesting pops up." Luke was on edge.
"There's a Chinese Restaurant back there, Mr. Lee's. You drive around and I'll grab some food. I need some sweet and sour pork."
I dropped Angelo off and continued to drive through the streets of Hell's Kitchen. There wasn't much to see, the streets were pretty quiet, and a storm was rolling in. I circled back around and waited for Angelo. He came out with a bag full of take out.
"Find anything?" He asked.
"Nothing. We'll have to come back tomorrow. Some of the buildings in this area are owned by LaRue Enterprises. We should run a records search and ask around. See if anyone may have recently met a new female."
"Let's circle around again before we head back to the hotel." Angelo suggested.
We continued to drive around the neighborhood and the wind was really gusting. The thunder, lightning and rain was heavy. There's no way she would be out in this. We passed an intersection and garbage cans were tumbling out in the middle of the street. We turned and just missed hitting the cans. I drove us back to the hotel on the east side of town. Luke was anxious all night and was upset I had let her slip through our paws.
"That was one hell of a storm last night." Angelo said as we met in the elevator ready to go back to Hell's Kitchen this morning. I was holding the paper bag from the salon with the products.
"You think she'll come with us freely?" Angelo asked.
Hell no she won't, I thought to myself.
"I'm not sure. But we're not leaving her here." I said.
"Mate would probably feel safer in Greece with the pack." Luke said to me. Only problem is, I'm not really sure what I'm doing with her, or where to take her after we found or captured her. I just need to find her first, then decide.
Angelo waited in the car while I went into the hair salon.
"Well hellOoooo handsome!" A man wearing lip gloss approached me. I was honestly a little lost for words, he was a lively character. Are those ladies shoes he's wearing?
"Don't you look dashing in that custom tailored suit. The charcoal color really makes the blue in your eyes stand out. I'm Russ by the way, what can I do for you? He asked.
"And I'm Jim! What a lovely thick head of hair you have. I've always loved thick hair." Jim said practically spilling his glass of wine.
"Thank you." I responded.
"What an extravagant accent you have. Where are you from?" Jim asked me.
"I grew up in Greece." I told him.
"I've always loved Greek men." Jim fanned himself.
"I have this bag of makeup and hair product-"
"I love makeup and hair product." Jim said enthusiastically.
"Actually, I'm looking for a girl-"
"Oh yuck!" Jim pouted.
"She left this product when I saw her yesterday." I tried to explain.
"Is that from here?" Russ asked as he pointed to the bag.
"Yes, I was trying to return it to Syble. I was wondering if you might know where I could find her?" I asked.
"Wait a minute mister! You're not the one who gave her that black eye two months ago are you?" Russ gave me a suspicious look and Jim gasped.
"What? No, of course not." I responded, realizing they had known her as long as I had been searching for her.
"Well, you can leave the bag here with your name and number. If I happen to see her again, not that I will or anything, but if by chance she ever comes back, I'll let her know you were kind enough to return her items. If she wants to see you, she'll call."
"But she doesn't actually talk, how will she call?" I said.
"She'll text you, thank you! Now leave, unless you want a bikini waxing." Russ smiled at me. As an Alpha, I've never been so disrespected, I could have pummeled him. But he made me smile with his forward attitude and his willingness to protect her.
Angelo was parked at the corner and I mind linked him to keep an eye out on the salon. I walked out and in the opposite direction so that they would see me leaving.
"He's peering out the door looking for you." Angelo linked me back. I rounded the corner and Angelo had another update.
"He's got the bag in his hands and he's walking down the street in the opposite direction. Is he wearing women's high heel shoes?" Angelo laughed.
"Keep your eye on him." I said.
"He's at the next block. Went into the corner restaurant."
"Bingo! What's the name of the restaurant?" I asked.
"Brews and Bites."
Half an hour later, I was back in the car with Angelo and we were watching the building on the corner. Russ had walked in with the bag and walked out empty handed. We had decided to wait and see if she showed up for work and maybe follow her back home. I didn't want to spook her at work and risk not being able to find her again.
Angelo had gone for a walk to stretch out his legs and came back with pastrami sandwiches. New York always had the best pastrami. Two hours later, we were still watching the restaurant when I noticed movement at the door next to the restaurant. It was a lobby door leading up into the apartments on top of the restaurant.
She was wearing jeans, a long sleeved top, and had her long brown hair pulled into a low ponytail. She quickly entered the restaurant and we sat watching. I wondered if she was going to come out with the bag of products, or if she actually worked at the restaurant as well. We continued to watch and wait.
"Mate! Go get her!" Luke barked at me.
"Patience Luke, we don't want her to run off again."
Angelo's phone rang and he took the call. When he hung up the phone he let out a chuckle. "You're not going to believe this." He said. "The building is owned by LaRue Enterprises and the business is owned by a wolf named Lola."
"Watch the side door, I'm going in." I said.
The early dinner crowd and after work happy hour crowd was starting to flow into the restaurant and bar. I stood at the door and tried to pick up her scent. It was faint, but she was here. Probably in the back. An older woman with short brown curly hair approached me, her eyes were wide with shock.
"Alpha LaRue?" She asked.
"Actually, I'm Alpha Lukas LaRue Theodorus. You must be Lola?"
"Wow, you look so much like your grandfather Alpha Diesel." She said.
"You know him?" I asked curiously.
"Of course. When our Alpha foolishly went to war with Crescent Moon and was killed, your grandfather and uncle took in what was remaining of Eclipse pack. Any other Alpha would have just killed all those who remained, but your family is different. My parents wanted to resettle here because my grandparents were living here at the time. Your grandfather helped us relocate. He bought the building and invested in the business to help it start out. Even though we didn't spend much time in his actual pack, he was and still is one of the greatest Alpha's of our kind."
"I've mostly worked on the international interests of LaRue Enterprises. I do work on special projects for the U.S. branch from time to time." I said.
"What brings you to our neck of the woods Alpha?" She asked.
"I'm looking for a young female. She may pass as human and doesn't speak. Could possibly be using the name Syble." I said and could see the worry in her eyes.
"Is everything Okay Alpha? She's not in trouble is she? She's a really sweet young thing and she's a hard worker."
"She'll be safe with me." I said.
"Are you sure?" She asked and realized how she sounded. "Forgive me, I mean no disrespect Alpha." She bowed her head.
"She's my Luna. She just doesn't know it yet." I told her and her eyes widened with realization.
"She's in the back." She pointed towards the swinging kitchen doors.
Luke yipped and was anxious to see her again.
I stepped through the swinging doors and was greeted with the sound of Latin music in the kitchen. My eyes landed on the she wolf in the back washing dishes. She stood with her back to me and her hips swaying to the music. I couldn't help grinning, she had great rhythm. I watched attentively as she seductively washed and danced, feeling like she was secretly trying to tease me.
Her hips and ass had filled out with curves in the right places and Luke was ready to pounce on this sexy little vixen. I felt a strong desire to dominate her. Without thinking I walked up behind her and placed my hands on her hips.
She let out a squeak and jumped. Then she spun around with a frying pan in her hand. Before I knew it, I was seeing stars. She clobbered me on the side of the head with it and took off running. The two chefs in the kitchen stood with shocked looks on their faces and mouths open. One of them muttered, "Ay, Dios Mio." I could feel blood running down the side of my face and stumbled out of the restaurant.
Angelo was standing out front leaning on the car with his arms crossed over his chest. That fucker was laughing at the sight of me. I gave him a scowl and he pointed to the side door next to the restaurant. The little mouse was running back to her hole in the apartment building upstairs. The lobby door was locked, and I pulled it open, breaking the lock.
I followed my nose to the third floor until her scent got stronger behind door number 3F. I mind linked Angelo and told him her apartment was on the east facing side of the third floor so he could watch the fire escape.
I knocked on her door and could hear her scurry around in there. I waited a few moments and knocked again. Nothing. I heard the window open, a loud squeal and the window slam shut. She had attempted to sneak out through the fire escape, but Angelo was already on it.
"FUCK!! She closed the window on my fucking fingers!" Angelo howled through the mind link. I couldn't help but laugh at him. She was a tiny little mouse but a fucking tornado! I stood for a moment rubbing my hands over my eyes and chuckling out loud.
"At least it wasn't a frying pan." I told him.
I leaned on the door and listened.
"Little mouse, there's a wolf on your fire escape and no way out. Unlock the door." I said.
She stood on the other side of the door and I could feel her wolf calling out to me. Luke was frantic and urging me to break down the door. I knew she was on the other side and I didn't want to hurt her.
"Listen to your wolf and open the door." I listened closely and could hear her sobbing.
"No one is going to hurt you." I tried again.
"Let me try." Lola said as she appeared in the hallway.
"Syble, honey. It's Lola. Open the door and let me in. The Alpha has agreed to wait out here while I talk to you." She said and looked at me. I nodded my head to let her know that I would wait and not try to force my way inside.
The door unlocked and Syble hid her little body behind the door so I couldn't see her. Luke let out a whimper, he wanted to go in with Lola. Once Lola was inside, she quickly closed the door and the lock tumbled again. A lock would not stop me, but I didn't want her completely afraid of me.
"How's your head?" Angelo asked me.
"Fine. And your fingers? Will you live to caress another female again?" I replied.
"I'm already healed." He chuckled. "All those times Elaina threatened your uncle Niko with a pan and you're the one that actually gets whacked with one. Wait until Niko finds out." He roared with laughter.
I could hear Lola inside promising Syble that I would not hurt her. She told her how my grandfather saved her family. She continued to tell her to trust her wolf. Then she told her she would hold her apartment for her if she decided to return. That she would always have a home with her and a place to work if she needed.
Twenty minutes later, the door opened up and Lola walked out first. I glanced inside the apartment which was the size of my closet. Syble stood in the doorway, her eyes still wet. She had a backpack on her back and a big cloth bag in her hand with all of her belongings. She didn't have much and yet she was reluctant to leave.
