Healing His Broken Luna.... Chapter 116
Chapter 29 - Answers
We boarded the jet which was surprisingly bigger than I thought it would be from the outside. The inside was lined with rich leather and fine wood veneers. It had several big leather seats that reclined back for sleeping, tables, flat screen televisions, a tiny kitchen area and even a bathroom with a shower.
We had eaten breakfast at the hotel before we left but Luna Raven also had snacks delivered to the plane. Our flight time is about two hours and the plane will be landing in Utica, which is in upstate New York. Once we land, we'll be traveling by car the remaining sixty miles into the Adirondack mountains. Sapphire Moon occupies the north east part of the vast mountain range and Blue Mountain was more south west. It was easier to land in Utica and avoid Sapphire Moon all together.
"Oh, we won't be avoiding them. Once we get this curse broken, I have some unfinished business at that pack." Lukas mind linked me. He had obviously been listening to my thoughts.
"You always like eavesdropping on my thoughts?" I linked him back.
"Luke and I enjoy hearing you and Storm gushing about us. Hearing all the naughty little things you want to do to us." He chuckled.
"We do not!" I blushed.
"Sure you do." He leaned in with his lips to my ear and whispered, "do you have a book I can borrow for the flight?"
My face must have turned fifty shades of red because he let out a hearty laugh. I turned away to look out the window of the jet as it started moving. I was glad to be leaving New Orleans, but I wasn't sure New York would be any safer.
I was still a little anxious about the rogues hunting me down, the only explanation I could think of was that Alpha Jaxon must know that I'm still alive, I had no other enemies. It's a good thing Alpha Dimitri noticed us run by the restaurant window yesterday and saved us from being stuck inside that interesting establishment. When we left, the rogues were nowhere to be found. After dinner, Lukas and Alpha Dimitri went to meet Magnus and pick up the potion.
Everything about that little vial of purple liquid made me feel anxious. It was so little and yet so powerful. I tried to recall childhood memories, I don't ever remember drinking a potion or anyone collecting a tear. We needed answers and I knew deep down inside, the answers were at Blue Mountain pack.
Once we were airborne, Angelo and Camille cuddled together and turned on the television. Lukas reached around me, lifted me to his lap and cradled me. I nuzzled my head into his neck and closed my eyes. His earthy spice and sweet vanilla scent washed over me.
"Here, this should fit just fine and keep her warm. I have a lot of extra warm winter clothes I picked up in Toronto, we should be fine while we're here." I heard Luna Raven say.
My eyes fluttered open and the plane had already landed. We were in Utica and it was freezing cold outside. I slipped on the heavy winter coat Luna Raven handed to Lukas and put on my gloves and hat. The winters in upstate New York, particularly the mountains, would reach single digit lows and even negative zero temperatures.
We stepped off the plane and onto the tarmac. We were greeted with three SUV's from Blue Mountain Pack that Alpha Trevor had sent for us. The Alpha and Luna sat in the first, Lukas and I took the second, Angelo and Camille took the third. I sat in the back with Lukas, I certainly did not miss the nipping cold here. Thinking about the freezing weather reminded me of my life at Sapphire Moon. I spent seven freezing winters in that barn shivering.
While the barn did have two large heaters, it kept the barn comfortable enough for the horses with blankets, but it was still frigid for me. I remember wrapping myself up with a heavy fill horse blanket during the winters in my stall to keep warm. What an awful memory. That's one I wouldn't mind forgetting.
"I wouldn't mind sucking the life out of Jaxon." Storm said to me.
"All in good time." I heard Lukas mind link me as he spoke to Storm and she yipped back at him.
Another hour later, I caught the sight of a big brown wolf running alongside of the cars. We had entered pack territory and the patrols did not miss our arrival. We turned down a private road and continued driving until a big pack house came into view in a beautiful clearing. A human could easily mistake it for a private resort or small hotel, it was impressive.
"Welcome, Welcome to Blue Mountain Pack and welcome back Syble." An older and handsome Alpha with gray eyes greeted us.
"Thank you Alpha Trevor." Alpha Dimitri said and shook his hand, followed by Luna Raven, Lukas and me. He stopped to really look me over
when he shook my hand. He held my hand an awkward moment too long. His eyes met mine, his Alpha aura was very strong, but Lukas' aura dominated all Alpha's.
"You look so much like your mother." He gave me a warm smile.
"You knew my mother?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Of course. Now, let's get inside and have lunch before we start unraveling this mystery, shall we?" He smiled and turned to lead us into the pack house.
We entered a beautiful large dining room that seemed to be private and could accommodate sixteen people at the table. The table was set with soup tureens of clam chowder, shrimp scampi, grilled vegetables and garlic bread sticks.
"Please be seated. My son, Alpha Troy is the Alpha of this pack now, but he's away on business. My friend and former Beta of this pack, Finn, will be with us momentarily."
No sooner than he said that, the Beta named Finn walked through the door and I instantly recognized him.
"YOU!" I said. "You're alive!"
"It's good to see you too Syble, or should I call you Luna now?" He smiled. It was the gray wolf from the cliff.
"You survived the fall." Lukas said.
"Barely." He replied.
"Alpha Lukas, this is Beta Finn. He was part of the extraction team that stormed Sapphire Moon."
"Extraction? So, you were there for me?" I asked.
"Yes, let's eat and I'll do my best to explain." Alpha Trevor said.
Everyone plated their food and staff walked around to fill drink cups. I ladled a bowl of clam chowder and started eating it, feeling it warm me from the inside out. It was very good. Once everyone was settled, Alpha Trevor dismissed the staff. Beta Finn closed the doors when they left to give us complete privacy.
"Where do I start? Let me see." Alpha Trevor paused to think.
"I wasn't born here at Blue Mountain Pack. My mother was an Alpha born she wolf, and my father was a human Royal. I'm the only one of four siblings to get the werewolf gene, my siblings are human. My mother was a very gifted seer and a second cousin to your father Luna Raven."
"Alexis Ivy? She was your mother?" Luna Raven Asked.
"You're technically a human Royal?" Lukas asked.
"Yes, and Yes. But I don't usually make that known and keep a low profile. You see, the former Alpha of this pack was vicious, and your grandfather recommended I challenge him and take this pack. It's fairly secluded up here away from the humans, which is how I prefer it. I was twenty when I took the pack and your Grandmother, Rosie Sinclair, was already here. I believe she had been widowed and your mother, Marissa, was her only child."
"Is she still alive?" I asked hopefully.
"I'm afraid not." He looked at me considerately. "She passed away eight years ago, when your parents were killed. When the family bond broke... well, let's just say she died from a broken heart."
"Is she buried here?" I asked.
"Yes. You're welcome to visit her later if you like." He told me. "I met your mother when she was just six. When she turned eighteen, she found her mate, your father, at Sapphire Moon. It was truly tragic what happened to them, we were led to believe you were all killed in a rogue attack. Your grandmother's cottage, where your mother grew up, still stands by the lake."
"I can take you there too." Beta Finn offered.
"Syble, I'm not sure if you've heard of the great prophecy's made by my mother. We've discovered that my mother made at least three that she confirmed before her death as part of the golden prophecy. The first one was delivered to Luna Lucy LaRue, the second one to Alpha Dimitri Theodorus when he was a pup and the third one to, well we haven't figured that one out yet."
"Not this prophecy nonsense again." Lukas shook his head.
"Yes Alpha, this prophecy might be the key to something great that's to come." Alpha Trevor replied. "The prophecy is focused around the elements and a great war that could annihilate our kind. I've been working with Alpha Diesel to help discover the line of elemental wolves that could control air. Air was the only element we had yet to discover in a wolf."
"But Beta Finn knew I had air even before I did." I said.
"Yes, during our search and after many dead ends, I finally stumbled across some history that led back to the Sinclair line about three months ago."
"Was my grandmother elemental?" I asked.
"No, but often times the gift skips generations or siblings. I found myself sitting in your grandmother's cottage looking for anything that might confirm she was related to her gifted ancestors. As I said, I don't really know much about her past or your grandfather, I wasn't even sure if she was a Sinclair or if that was your grandfathers last name."
"Do you know now?" An impatient Angelo asked.
"Yes. I found an old journal in your grandmother's things. She briefly writes about her fathers' special gift and that she expects Marissa's child to be just as talented. She never mentions your grandfather but mentioned her lost son. Your mother was her only living child and we suspect her mate may have been a human. The back of the journal held a single photo of your parents and you. I've saved it for you."
"Thank you Alpha." I choked back tears.
"Yeah, but what about the hocus-pocus on her? Angelo asked.
"We're still working on that, Ezra's disappearance isn't helping."
"Magnus said that the curse to bind me would require a tear, so someone had to be physically close to me. I don't know if I've ever left Sapphire Moon."
"Actually, you have, your parents have been here a handful of times to visit with your grandmother, you've been here before, when I was Alpha."
"I don't remember much prior to my parent's death." I told him.
"You may find things starting to come back being here. Please feel free to stay as long as you like for as long as it takes."
"How did you know I was still alive, when you came to Sapphire Moon for the mating ceremony?" I asked.
"It was Beta Finn, He went to Sapphire Moon the day before the ceremony on business with another visiting Alpha who had arrived a day early. He saw you giving the horses a bath and said you looked a lot like your mother." Alpha Trevor said.
"I'm so sorry Syble, it wasn't until I actually saw you, that I realized you looked like your mother. Undernourished, but just like her. Alpha James had told us that you were all killed by rogues, and then later, Luna Raven told us what really happened. I feel terrible. Your mother was a friend of mine in school." Beta Finn said.
"Your father was an excellent warrior too. Luna Tara would be absolutely appalled by what happened and by what her mate did to an innocent family." Alpha Trevor shook his head.
"Did you know Alpha Jaxon's mother, Luna Tara?" I asked.
"Yes. She's the former Alpha of Blue Mountain Pack's daughter. I killed her father when I challenged him. She was abused by him as a pup because she was a female instead of the male heir he wanted. He was very cruel to her. She wouldn't have tolerated the mistreatment of any pup." Alpha Trevor explained.
I felt a lump in my throat just thinking about all this new information. I still don't know who sent the rogues or who cursed me, but I know it will all make sense sooner or later. Whoever it is, is still out there.
"Alpha Trevor, if it's okay with you, I'd like to take my mate to our room, she's a little jet lagged and needs some rest." Lukas said and scooped me up. My head was filled with so much information and I wanted to just be alone and process it in the comfort of my mates embrace.
