Healing His Broken Luna.... Chapter 108
Chapter 21 - Hurricane
"I came back to check on you and you had fallen asleep in the tub. I figured that Storm might need Luke again, so I stayed to save you the late night hike to my room." His raspy voice said in my ear as he continued to hug me close from behind. I giggled and was glad he couldn't see my face turn red.
"Did you sleep okay?" He asked.
"Yes." I managed to mutter.
"I sure did." Storm said to me.
"The streets are going to be a mess this morning for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. I'm not sure how long it's going to take us to find Magnus so we should pack everything. If there's anything you need, I can buy it along the way." He placed a kiss on my shoulder before he rolled out of the bed and pulled his shorts on.
"I'll see you downstairs when you're ready." He said and I nodded my head.
"He kissed us!" Storm practically screeched with delight. My heart was fluttering at the thought of his lips on my body. His strong arms wrapped around me and his naked body pressed against mine all night long. He had seen me naked, again! Heat was pulsing through me. I needed a cold shower and fast.
After my shower, I applied a little bit of makeup on and used the blow dryer to dry my hair. I put on a long dress, boots and jacket. I placed my dirty clothes in a plastic laundry bag I found in the closet and shoved them in the bottom of my bag. I checked to make sure my money was still stashed in my little purse inside my backpack. It was all still there. I didn't have much but I was willing to spend it all trying to find Magnus and free Storm.
"Here, let me." Angelo came running up the stairs to take my big cloth bag and backpack for me.
Lukas was standing at the table talking with his parents and breakfast had been laid out on the table.
"Good morning Syble." His mother greeted me with a hug. "How are you feeling this morning?" She asked as she sniffed me. Lukas gave his father a pleading look to reign in his mate and Alpha Dimitri let out a soft chuckle.
"She's scenting us to see if we've mated yet." Storm whispered to me and I felt my face heat up.
"Let's eat before breakfast gets cold." Lukas said and reached for my hand to seat me at the table next to him.
Alpha Dimitri sat down, and Luna Raven sat on his lap. The Alpha took turns feeding his Luna and himself from the same fork. I tried not to stare and wondered if this was normal behavior for mated couples or just those strongly connected. Lukas continued to pile food on my plate, and I couldn't help but feel he was watching to make sure I was eating enough.
"I spoke with my father, he's still waiting to hear back from Alpha Trevor. He believes that Ezra, who's another grand warlock, is in Toronto. Your father and I will take the jet to Toronto to see if we can find him. I've made arrangements for the three of you to fly from Kennedy to New Orleans this afternoon and see if you can find Magnus. The sooner we get this matter settled, the sooner we can get on with the mating ceremony." The Luna beamed at us.
"Your pups are really going to be something else!" Angelo said.
"We've got so much to prepare for. My mother can hardly wait to meet you." Luna Raven clapped her hands with excitement.
After breakfast, we made our way to the airport and checked in at the gate. Angelo had explained, due to the holiday and short travel notice, there wasn't enough time to have another LaRue Jet fly us, so we were flying first class on a commercial airline. I was so nervous to fly on a plane, I couldn't manage to find my voice.
"Are you okay?" Lukas asked me and I nodded my head yes.
He leaned into my ear and his scent filled my nose. "Don't worry, I'll be right next to you the entire time." He whispered.
We boarded the plane and found our seats. Lukas buckled me into my seat next to the window. A flight attendant offered us drinks before takeoff and couldn't seem to take her eyes off Lukas. Storm was stirring, the sight of her toothy smile and big boobs was annoying me. They're probably fake anyway! Russ and Jim had filled me in on all that fake stuff women do to their bodies.
"May I get you a refill sir?" She leaned into Lukas and Strom almost growled at her.
"No thank you. I'm okay for now." Lukas replied.
"And how about your ... little sister?" She asked.
"I could use a refill!" Angelo practically yelled from behind us before either one of us could respond to her.
Lukas placed his hand over mine and pulled it up to his mouth to kiss it. He kissed my hand and tingles erupted through my arm. I stared for a moment and he flashed me a little grin. I wondered if he could sense my jealousy. Wait, I wasn't jealous, was I? The plane started moving and he held on to my hand, his touch calmed and comforted me. I was so relaxed, I dozed off.
I opened my eyes and the airplane seemed to be bouncing around. I had fallen asleep on Lukas' arm and a blanket had been draped on me. I wondered if we were falling out of the sky.
"It's okay, it's just turbulence. The plane is descending into New Orleans and there's a hurricane in the gulf that's bringing in a storm tonight. Most things will be closed because of the holiday, so we'll start our search tomorrow." Lukas told me.
When we exited the airport, a limousine driver holding up a sign that said LaRue Enterprises was waiting just outside the pickup area. Angelo loaded our bags into the car while the driver held the door open for us. The rain was coming in hard and the driver slowly pulled out into traffic.
"We will be arriving at your destination in about twenty minutes Sir." The driver said.
"Which hotel did my mother make reservations at?" Lukas inquired.
"As I'm sure you know, the New Orleans Grand Hotel has recently acquired the Grand Mansion Suites in the beautiful garden district. It's a stunning exclusive property with two dozen suites. One of the finest properties belonging to LaRue Enterprises, with all the southern grandeur and luxury New Orleans has to offer." The driver proudly told us with his heavy accent.
"Is the kitchen open around the clock?" Angelo asked.
"It wouldn't be true southern hospitably if it wasn't." He replied.
We arrived at a stunning mansion surrounded by luscious gardens and trees. I suppose this is why they call it the garden district. We walked up the stairs and through double French doors into the lobby. It was grand with gilded ceilings, huge chandeliers, a grandfather clock, heavy wooden floors, beautiful antique furniture, oil paintings and fresh flower bouquets. It looked like something out of a magazine, both timeless and beautiful.
"Ahh good evening Mr. LaRue Theodorus, we are pleased to have you at the New Orleans Grand Mansion. I'm Mr. Miles, do not hesitate to ring me if you need anything during your stay. The honeymoon suite has been reserved for you, and may I offer my happiest congratulations to you and your lovely bride. Your room keys are ready and here is the key for Mr. Angelo's room as well."
"I'm going to make my way to the restaurant, I'm sure the newlyweds would like to enjoy their meal in the comfort of their honeymoon suite this evening." Angelo grinned and waved goodbye as he followed his nose in the direction of the food. Lukas was frozen in place realizing what his mother had done.
"Of course, of course. The chefs have prepared a feast for Thanksgiving, I'll have them send up food shortly for a lovely candlelight dinner this evening." Mr. Miles said.
"Yes! We're sharing a room with mate!" Storm said to me as she yipped with joy.
We followed the bell hop up the grand staircase to the third and top floor of the mansion converted into a luxury hotel. He entered the room and flipped a switch to the gas log fireplace before he left. I took in the stunning room, there was a sitting area in the suite in front of the fireplace. The room was just as beautiful as the lobby with antique furniture, marble tables, burgundy and cream striped wallpaper and heavy floral drapery.
The iron framed bed was located in the back of the room, with the headboard up against the wall. The New Orleans vibe and southern charm was definitely showcased in this suite. I walked towards the beautiful French doors leading out to a private balcony overlooking the gardens. I stared out at the view as the rain pelted the glass. Everything was so beautiful, it's hard to believe I was living in a horse stall just three months ago, wondering when I would eat next.
"I can get another room if you want me to." Lukas said from behind me, breaking me from my thoughts.
"No, it's okay. I'd probably just wake up in bed with you anyway." I smiled and he grinned at me.
"There's a really big bathtub in there you might like, maybe even fall asleep in." He smiled.
"I think I'd like to curl up by the fire." I said.
"Sounds good. Angelo has my cell phone, I'm going to run downstairs and get it really quickly." Lukas said and left the suite.
I took my boots off and walked over to the armchair by the fireplace. I could hear the wind whipping around outside and the rain was coming down harder. There was a knock at the door and I nearly tripped over my bag as I stood to open it, a few of my books fell out onto the floor. I wondered if Lukas had forgotten his key.
"Good evening Madame. We have dinner for two, shall we set up?" The butler asked and I nodded my head. He walked in and gave the other two that followed direction in French. They worked quickly and placed a white tablecloth over the small table in the room and laid down napkins, silverware, glasses, and a candle in the middle of the table. Moments later they wheeled a cart that smelled delicious into the room.
"In honor of Thanksgiving the chefs have prepared a lovely crab bisque, Cajun turkey, oyster dressing, sweet potato mash, green beans with andouille sausage, pecan pie and a delicious bread pudding with caramel rum."
"It smells wonderful." I said.
"We also have chilled wine, and a well-stocked mini bar in your room. If there's anything else you need, please do not hesitate to call the front desk."
"Merci Monsieur." Lukas said walking through the door.
"De rien." He bowed his head and left with the others.
Lukas closed the door and removed his jacket, placing it on the sofa. He unbuttoned the cuffs to his shirt and rolled his sleeves up. Then I watched as he walked over to my bag, which had fallen over on the floor and picked it up, placing the books that had fallen out of it back inside.
"Shall we eat?" He smiled at me.
We sat at the table and I realized this was the first meal I would be having alone with Lukas. He uncovered the plates of food and we started eating with the occasional awkward glances at each other. I wasn't sure what to talk about.
"How do you like the food?" He asked.
"It's wonderful. The flavors are amazing, though I'm not sure what this is." I said as I pointed to something on my plate.
"That's an oyster. They put those in the cornbread dressing here in the south. Do you like it? You don't have to eat it if you don't like it." He said.
"It's actually very good." I smiled.
"Louisiana is on the gulf, they have the best grilled oysters here, I'll have to take you to get some." He smiled.
The lights flickered and then the room went dark. The only light in the room was from the gas burning fireplace and the single candle on our table. Lukas looked around and then walked over to the window.
"Looks like the storm knocked out the power, the whole district is dark." Lukas said.
I could hear the storm raging outside while we remained cozy and warm inside. I've never experienced a hurricane before being from upstate New York. The glow of the firelight made him look even more handsome if that was even possible. He walked back to the table and we continued eating in silence.
"Why do your parents eat together like that?" I managed to ask. I had been wondering all day.
He looked puzzled for a moment and then a look of understanding swept his face as he smiled. "Do you mean why does my father seat her on his lap?"
I nodded my head feeling embarrassed that I had even asked. Angelo and Lukas had carried on eating breakfast as if it was absolutely normal, but I didn't understand why when there was plenty of room at the table to sit in your own chair.
"Come here." He said as he pushed back from the table.
I stood up slowly, unsure of what to do. He reached out and grabbed my arm pulling me to him, then placed me on his lap. I had suddenly lost my voice again because I couldn't even manage a word. Storm was howling as our mate held me firmly in his lap and then brought a fork full of food to my mouth.
I slowly took a bite and he smiled at me, his smile sent a warm wave of heat down to my core. He then continued to feed the both of us and Storm was purring inside of me. Being so close to him, in this position, not only felt intimate but natural.
"Some wolves are very possessive of their mates and feel the need to have them close and take care of them. Others have such as strong mate bond and find it comforting to be so close." He pulled me tighter and dropped his head in my neck taking a deep breath.
"Do you like it?" He asked and I could only manage to nod my head.
I could feel my own desire stirring like a hurricane deep inside of me and I wondered if he could sense it. He looked at me with such intensity and longing. I was so close to him, I could feel his warm breath as he exhaled. I broke the eye contact and gazed at the curves of his lips. I bit down on my bottom lip and suddenly felt the explosion of sparks as his lips met mine.
