His Belated Love for the Abandoned Ex-Wife Chapter 118: A Shock
Once she finished it, she realized it was way more explicit than she thought.
But it was still a good book. It just got really bold and straight to the point when it talked about sex.
"I'm not that innocent anymore, you know." Julian leaned down, his face right up against her blushing cheeks. His hoarse voice was soft. "Let me read it."
"No." Iris was too embarrassed to handle it. She said no right away.
"That stingy?" Julian frowned a little.
Iris's face and ears turned bright red. "I just don't want you to..."
She trailed off, too shy to finish what she was saying.
Intimate stuff was normal for husbands and wives. But after two years of marriage, they'd never talked about anything like this. The air felt awkward, embarrassing, shy and flirty all at the same time.
Julian's intense gaze locked on her blushing cheeks. "You don't want me to get turned on and take it out on you?"
Iris was too shy to look at him. "Just don't read it. That's all I ask."
"What if I insist?"
"You can't." Iris panicked. She stood on her tiptoes, grabbed his arm and tried to pull it down.
He was already tall, with long arms. When she reached up, her whole body pressed against his chest. She pulled and jumped, trying to get the book.
She still couldn't reach it.
Julian was scared she'd fall. He hooked his arm around her waist, his eyes crinkling with a smile. "You can't beat me at this."
Iris refused to give up. She almost climbed onto him to yank his arm down.
Her soft, tempting body rubbed against him, stirring Julian up. He couldn't take it anymore.
He hadn't even opened the book yet and he was already burning with desire.
He quickly hid the hand holding the book behind his back.
Iris wrapped her arms around his waist without thinking twice. She leaned in as far as she could to grab the book.
Suddenly, Julian slipped his other hand around her waist and lifted her gently.
Iris's feet left the floor. He lifted her up easily. She panicked and grabbed his shoulders tight. "What are you doing?"
Julian turned around and pressed her down on the bed.
"Julian, stop." Iris's heart raced. She pushed against his firm, warm chest, flustered and annoyed.
His intense eyes looked hazy and tempting. His voice was deep, magnetic and hoarse. He whispered softly, "From now on, if you want something from me, don't fight for it. Beg me. If you're nice enough, I would give you my life."
Iris could barely breathe under his strong body. Her heart thumped. She hesitated for a few seconds, then spoke in a soft, gentle voice. It felt like a soft spring breeze, light as down, tugging at his heartstrings. "Julian, please give me the book back. Okay?"
Her voice was music to his ears, soft and tinged with a plea.
It could melt even the hardest steel.
That one "Julian" made his whole heart go soft. He squeezed out a single word from his throat. "Okay."
He handed the book to Iris, but his eyes couldn't pull away from her blushing face.
Iris didn't expect it to be that easy.
Julian swallowed, licked his dry lips and cleared his throat. "I'm not that pervy. I only wanted to check out the books you've read."
Iris said, "I have other good books. You can come get them anytime you want to read."
Julian's long fingers brushed the messy hair off her face, tucking it behind her ear. His gaze was soft and doting. "Okay. I'll come to your room to get them when I have time."
Iris held the book tight and nodded. "Yeah."
She bit her lower lip, closed her eyes and turned her head. She wanted him to get off her, so the words came out naturally. "You're squishing me. Can you get up?"
"I just want to hold you."
Iris's heart felt warm and soft. "But you're really heavy."
Julian held her and rolled over fast.
Iris ended up lying on his chest, her soft body wrapped tight in his strong arms.
She didn't say anything else. She just let him hold her.
Beneath her, she could feel the steady thud of his heart, his warmth, and his uneven breathing.
Slowly, Iris fell asleep in his warm embrace.
This time, there was no alarm to wake her. She slept until she was fully rested.
When she opened her eyes again, the sun was shining bright outside the balcony. Julian was already gone from her room, and everything from her suitcase was unpacked.
But her suitcases were nowhere to be found.
Over the next few days, Iris was so busy she could barely think straight.
It was sweltering hot. She went to look at new places with a real estate agent, but turned them down because the rent was too high.
She didn't even have time to eat lunch when she got a call from Zoe. She rushed back to the research institute by subway.
From far away, she saw a group of women yelling and making a scene at the institute's front gate.
As soon as she walked over, something suddenly flew toward her.
"Slap!" It hit her forehead with a sharp sound. A dull ache spread through her face, and raw egg dripped down her cheeks. A faint smell of raw egg lingered around her.
She was completely stunned, frozen in place.
"That's the evil woman!"
"That's her..."
Suddenly, another egg flew at her.
Iris didn't have time to dodge. She got hit again, covered in egg yolk and white. Broken eggshells got stuck in her hair, making her look a total mess.
Anger slowly built up inside her. She stared calmly at the middle-aged women in front of her.
Their faces were filled with anger and hatred. They pointed at her and shouted insults nonstop.
