His Belated Love for the Abandoned Ex-Wife Chapter 350: A Counterattack
Brandon didn't seem bothered at all. He just gave a slight, dismissive smirk. "What's wrong with living with my own sister?"
Lily looked stunned. "Your sister? You've got to be kidding. Iris—?"
"She's my sister," Brandon cut in calmly. "Cayden's daughter. You know, the chairman of Aurelium Group."
"No way." Lily's face twisted with jealousy. "Iris doesn't belong in that world. She's just some small-town girl. Don't try to make her into something she's not."
"Once the DNA results come back and my father brings her home, he'll throw a proper reception. Your family, the Prescotts, might be going through a rough patch, but you still have some connections in polite society. We'll be sure to send an invite," Brandon said casually. He wasn't bragging—just stating facts. But with someone like Lily, you had to hit where it hurt. Use what she cared about to make her squirm. It was the only thing that felt satisfying.
Lily's face went pale with envy.
She'd always told herself that even if Iris was smart and pretty, she came from nowhere—no family name, no pedigree. That alone meant Iris could never measure up to Julian. And she could never outshine Lily, with her good breeding and respectable upbringing.
Now that last shred of pride was crumbling.
Her jealousy burned hotter, darkening her expression. She clenched her teeth. "She's a Whitlow. A backwoods girl from the sticks. Her mother's barely literate and greedy as hell. Her brother and his wife deal drugs. I know you're trying to clean up Iris' story and make her look shiny. But sorry, I'm not buying it. She's Ethan's sister. They're twins."
Right then, both Brandon and Julian thought Lily looked utterly ridiculous.
How could jealousy make someone so ugly... and so blind?
Arthur seemed to sense Lily was about to lose it. He took her hand. "Come on, sweetheart. Let's just go home."
They walked past Julian without another word.
Julian turned slowly, composed himself, and said offhandedly, "Hey Lily, how'd you enjoy that male model with the eight-pack?"
Arthur and Lily froze mid-step.
Lily went white.
Arthur stared at her, stunned, then swallowed his anger. "What male model?"
Lily panicked. She glanced nervously at Arthur. "Honey, he's just trying to mess with us. Don't listen to him."
Arthur dropped Lily's hand, marched back to Julian, and grabbed his suit jacket. "Explain. What are you talking about?"
Julian's gaze was icy. He yanked Arthur's hand away and shoved him back, then pulled out a disinfecting wipe, cleaning his own hand and collar with clear disgust. "Exactly what it sounds like. Call it... payback."
Arthur was furious. He put his hands on his hips, scoffed, ran his tongue over his teeth, and his expression turned grim. His chest heaved.
Julian wiped his palms slowly. "Difference is, you couldn't tempt Iris with some handsome guy. She's got principles. So you drugged her, took shady photos, and set her up. But Lily... well, she's different."
Arthur's face darkened further. He gritted his teeth and glared back at Lily.
Lily felt the guilt but doubled down. "He's lying!"
Julian went on, "Lily managed to marry you while still being obsessed with me. After the wedding, you really think a good-looking guy wouldn't catch her eye?"
Arthur let out a cold laugh, trying to stay composed. "You expect me to believe you just like that?"
Julian raised a brow, smiling thinly. "I'll have the model send you the footage. From what he said, it's racier than anything you'd find on those adult sites."
Lily stormed over, eyes wet, and screamed, "Julian, you're a piece of work!"
Julian's tone was low and sharp. "Is this news to you? I hold a grudge. And for a vicious woman like you, this is how I play. Since the law won't touch you, I'll fight back with the same kind of dirt you love to use. So you can see how it feels."
Lily laughed through her tears, stepping back unsteadily. "You think some random model seducing me is your big revenge? You're overestimating yourself."
Julian didn't react. He walked past her, leaving one quiet sentence hanging. "We'll see."
Lily stood frozen, her face gradually draining of color.
Brandon hurried after Julian.
Once they were in the car, Brandon asked, "How's that revenge, though? Lily doesn't love Arthur. Worst case, they get divorced. It's not like it breaks her. Seems like a waste of effort."
Julian glanced at him. "Did you look into Arthur's family?"
"No."
"Arthur had a vasectomy at eighteen. Never wanted kids. You know his sister Zoe? Iris' closest friend. The one who says she'll never marry. Both of them turned out that way 'cause their dad was a gambling addict who beat them, their mom was weak and had an affair, and their grandma was old-school—favored boys, looked down on girls."
