When Emily heard that, she stamped her foot and screamed, "I'm not going to the police station! Leave me alone! I told you I didn't get scammed! Why won't you believe me? Do you just not want me to get rich?!"

Iris helped Grace sit up and then walked over to Emily. "Emily, withdraw your principal right now. If you can get the principal back, I'll pay you the profits you lost."

Emily snorted, rolled her eyes at Iris, and scoffed. "Save it. You're so cheap you won't even give your mom a little living money. Like you have any cash to spare."

Iris's chest hurt with anger. She clenched her fists, forcing her voice to stay soft. "Can you just listen? The police have been trying to warn you for so long. Would they hurt you?"

"They don't know anything about this investment platform," Emily said, acting like she was in the right. "Wait till I make money. You'll all be jealous."

Julian walked over to Iris, speaking calmly and steadily. "Emily, if you can prove you weren't scammed, I'll pay you ten times the profits you lost."

Everyone froze, staring at Julian in shock. Grace stopped crying, stood up slowly with Keith, and looked super nervous.

The two police officers checked Julian out from head to toe.

Emily narrowed her eyes, thinking to herself. This guy's the heir to Everhart Group. He's worth over 100 million on his own, and Everhart Group's assets are off the charts.

Emily's eyes lit up. "You mean it?"

Julian replied, "Of course."

Emily finally pulled her phone out from under her arm, holding it tightly as she tapped away. She kept glancing at the police, scared they'd see her password and steal her phone.

After two minutes of typing, Emily grinned. She held her phone up to Julian and the police, bragging. "Look! See? I told you I could withdraw money! This platform's real. I told you! You promised ten times the profits. Pay up!"

Iris glanced at the withdrawal amount. "Why only 100 thousand? You still have over two million left to withdraw."

"I just need to prove the platform's real," Emily said, grinning proudly. She wiggled her plump body, looking at Julian happily. "You're loaded. You better keep your word."

Julian scoffed. "You're way too greedy. You don't want to give up the high profits on the platform, but you still want my tenfold compensation. There's no such thing as a free lunch. If you don't withdraw all your principal, I won't give you a penny."

Emily bit her lip, thinking. Between the platform's double profits and Julian's tenfold compensation, greed made her choose the latter.

Scared Julian would back out, she pointed at the police and Iris. "You all heard him, right? He said ten times. You have to be my witnesses!"

Iris nodded quickly. "Hurry up and withdraw the money! Take as much as you can, hurry!"

Emily stared at the platform, watching the numbers keep rising. She hesitated, then slowly started typing.

A police officer leaned in to look, but she pulled the phone away.

Less than two minutes later, her face turned pale. She panicked, her voice shaking. "I just withdrew 100 thousand. W-why can't I withdraw now?!"

"Let me see!" The police officer didn't wait for her to say yes. He grabbed the phone.

Emily's face went as white as a sheet. She clung to the officer's side, pointing at the screen. "Press that withdraw button! It must be a system glitch. Press it again! Hurry, press it again!"

The officer looked at the platform and the account, then grabbed his laptop in a hurry and started doing online interception.

The air turned tense in an instant.

The officer worked frantically for nearly half an hour. In the end, he couldn't keep up with the scammers. He only managed to get back 200 thousand. Staring at the 1.95 million dollars that had already been transferred overseas, he sighed helplessly.

Emily grabbed the officer's shirt and yelled, "Why'd you stop?! Hurry and get my money back! Why aren't you working? I warn you—if I lose my money, I'll file a complaint against you!"

Ethan's legs gave out. He collapsed to the floor, covering his pale face. He looked like he'd aged decades overnight.

He couldn't hold back his grief anymore and burst into tears. "What do I do? If I can't pay the money back, I'll be blacklisted! My son's future will be ruined! I worked so hard for that money, never even spent a penny on myself and now it's all gone! And I'm in so much debt! I'm so tired! I don't want to live anymore!"

Tears streamed down Iris's face. Hearing Ethan cry, her heart felt like it was shattered. She rushed over, knelt down beside him, and hugged him tightly, sobbing. "It's okay. Don't be scared. You still have me. I'll help you—we'll get through this together."
