His Belated Love for the Abandoned Ex-Wife Chapter 316: A Jealous Cleanliness
Iris was stunned. She watched what Julian was doing, and her heart started pounding like crazy.
What on earth was he up to?
As far as Iris knew, Julian's obsession with cleanliness was limited to his own personal space, including his belongings, his body, and anything he considered his own.
Now, when that well-known obsessive-compulsive cleanliness extended to her body, it was pretty obvious that he already regarded her as his. He simply couldn't stand the thought of someone dirtying her.
Even a simple handshake could really get on his nerves.
Julian secretly wiped her palm clean. Then he calmly stood up and went to throw the wipe in the trash.
Iris' heart was in turmoil, and it took a long time for the waves of emotion to subside.
The free time in the afternoon passed in a flash.
A few more groups of villagers dropped by the villa.
Among them was the village mayor. He had a chat with Julian about the town's plan for the Thanksgiving celebrations. They were going to have a big fireworks display the next night, a town-wide barbecue, and hand out some gifts to the veterans in the community.
The whole town was chipping in. Each person was donating a couple of hundred bucks to support the events.
Julian got the mayor's hint right away. He donated a hundred thousand dollars on the spot to fund the town's festivities.
The mayor was over the moon. He thanked Julian profusely and left with the other villagers.
A lot of the public facilities in the town had been built with donations from the Everhart family.
That included several schools and senior centers in the area.
After night fell, Iris gave Harper a bath and then took one herself.
When she came out of the shower, Harper ran up to her, beaming. "Mommy, Daddy said he's gonna sleep with me tonight."
Iris looked up at Julian, who was sitting on the living-room couch, calmly looking at his phone.
"Daddy said that?" Iris asked, looking down at Harper.
Harper nodded happily. "Yeah. Daddy said he wants to sleep with me. You can sleep by yourself tonight, Mommy."
Iris patted her head. "Okay, sweetie. Remember to brush your teeth and go to the bathroom before you go to bed, okay?"
"Okay," Harper replied obediently.
Iris wasn't really worried about Harper. Julian took even better care of her than she did.
Harper ran over to the couch and jumped into Julian's arms. "Daddy, Mommy said yes. I'm sleeping with you tonight."
Julian held her and kissed her soft cheek. "Good girl."
Iris smiled, turned around, and went into the room.
She fluffed up the blankets a bit and then lay down on the bed, scrolling through her phone for a while.
When she got tired, she turned off the light.
From outside the village, the occasional bark of a dog could be heard, and every now and then, the roar of a motorcycle engine would zoom by, probably some teenager looking for a thrill.
Iris had a hard time falling asleep. She tossed and turned in bed.
Late at night, when everything was quiet, Iris finally started to doze off.
She hadn't fully fallen asleep when she vaguely heard the door open.
Half-asleep, she rubbed her eyes. Then she suddenly felt the bed shift. Someone climbed into her bed, and a familiar, faint scent wafted over her.
She woke up completely. Her body went rigid, and she didn't move a muscle. She opened her eyes and stared into the darkness of the room. Her heart was pounding like a drum.
She wasn't so much scared as she was nervous.
Because that faint scent belonged to Julian.
He pulled back her blankets. She felt the man lie down behind her. Her breathing became all erratic.
Then, his body pressed against her back. His hand reached around her waist and gently pulled her into his arms.
The moment she touched his solid chest, every cell in her body seemed to tremble. She stayed still, gripping the sheets tightly and taking deep breaths.
Julian buried his face in her neck. Through her hair, his hot breath landed on her skin, making her whole body tingle and burn.
She swallowed hard. She was too nervous to say a word.
"Harper's asleep," Julian said. His voice was hoarse and low, a soft murmur in her ear.
Iris didn't know how to respond.
Then, his hand slipped under her clothes from her waist.
Iris got so scared that she quickly grabbed his wrist. Her breathing became even more ragged. "Why... why did you come over?"
The truth was, she asked because she was too nervous. She knew exactly what he wanted.
With her back pressed against him, she could also feel his strong physical reaction.
"I want you," Julian said, forcing the words out of his throat. His voice was low, husky, and full of desire.
His kisses landed right below her earlobe, on her neck.
Iris went completely limp. She slowly closed her eyes, let go of his wrist, and let him do as he pleased.
Last time, he'd asked for her permission before they had sex.
But this time, he acted as if it was a given. He didn't ask for her permission; he just told her he wanted it and went ahead.
The next morning, bright and early.
Harper woke up and didn't see her dad, so she ran out to look for him. In the living room, Beatrice and May had already finished breakfast and were sitting together, chatting.
"Great-grandma, where's Daddy?"
"Harper's up?" Beatrice reached out to her. "Come here, sweetie."
"I got up and didn't see Daddy. Did you see him?"
Beatrice looked at May. May shrugged. "I got up at six. I didn't see Julian out of bed!"
They both paused for a few seconds, then looked up toward Iris' room. After that, they exchanged a knowing smile.
"Come on, Harper. I'll take you to wash up and change your clothes, and then I'll make you a yummy breakfast." May took her hand and led her back to the room.
Beatrice let out a happy laugh.
Because it was Thanksgiving, more and more people were coming by to drop off gifts. Everyone in the Everhart family was up and sitting in the living room, greeting relatives and friends who stopped by.
The living room was filled with lively chatter and noise.
