Julian hesitated for a second, then caved. "Fine, but you gotta shower in the bathroom in my room."

Iris's heart was racing. She was so nervous.

But she was thinking straight.

Julian had to be upset about something. But she had no clue what made him act this way.

He had once been refined, gentlemanly, polite and mild-mannered. Now he had turned frantic, domineering, and faintly restless.

After that, Julian let go of her gently, sat up, and stared right at her face with burning eyes.

Iris's cheeks turned red. She couldn't meet his hot gaze. She slowly got out of bed. "I need to go to my room to get pajamas."

Julian grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the bathroom. His tone was firm and pushy. "No need to wear anything. There are new towels and toothbrushes in the bathroom cabinet. The body wash and shampoo are the same brand as yours."

Julian pushed her gently but firmly into the bathroom.

She turned around and looked at the frosted glass door. She could barely make out Julian leaning against it, his head hanging down.

What's wrong with him?

Why is he in such a hurry all of a sudden? Is he scared I'll run off?

He leaned against the door for a minute, then walked away.

Outside the bathroom, Julian sat on the edge of the bed, bending over with his head in his hands. His broad shoulders sagged with weight, and a cold, unsettling aura hung around him.

Without Iris, the heat in his body went away. It felt like he'd dropped into an ice cave.

Time ticked by, and his heavy breathing slowly calmed down.

After a long while, the bathroom door creaked open a little.

Iris poked her head out, looking nervous. "Sorry, Julian. I think my period's starting."

Julian sat up straight and turned to look at her. His eyes softened, warm and a little helpless. He let out a soft breath, smiled, and shook his head. "It's fine."

Iris's cheeks were flushed, her eyes shy. She spoke quietly. "Can you get my pajamas from my room? The pads are in my cabinet drawer."

Julian nodded and got up to leave the room.

A minute later, he came back with pajamas, underwear, and a night pad tucked in.

He knocked on the bathroom door.

The door opened a crack, and he handed the things in.

Iris took the clothes. Just as she was about to close the door, she asked, "Where's my bra?"

Julian cleared his hoarse throat. "You sleep better without it. I checked earlier, and it looked tight, so I didn't grab it."

Iris closed the bathroom door and said nothing.

She never wore a bra to sleep, anyway.

A minute later, Iris came out of the bathroom, shifting awkwardly.

Julian stood up. Iris stepped back fast. Her period came out of nowhere, and she felt sad and guilty. "I should go back to my room to sleep."

Julian walked over to her and took her hand. With his other hand, he touched her half-dry hair. "You gonna sleep with wet hair?"

"I'll dry my hair when I get back to my room."

Julian didn't let her say no. He pulled her back into the bathroom and took out a hair dryer to dry her hair.

Iris didn't move. She stood in front of the big mirror, looking at herself and him behind her.

Julian was a head taller than her. He dried her hair gently and carefully—every move showed up in the mirror.

The pajamas were thin, and she had nothing underneath. If Julian glanced up at the mirror, he'd see her curves.

It was so awkward.

Iris turned around fast to face Julian.

Julian paused for a moment, gazing at the crown of her head and the long hair draped across her frame.

They were really close. Julian couldn't see her face or body, but the nice, fresh smell of her hair was clear.

It smelled better than his own shampoo.

They used the same body wash and shampoo. Why did it smell so different on Iris?

That smell was one of a kind, like it could pull at your heart.

Julian lifted a strand of her soft hair with his long fingers. His movements were gentle and light, his eyes warm.

In the bathroom, the only sounds were the soft hum of the hair dryer and their heartbeats.

This quiet, intimate tension felt more intoxicating than sweet talk.

Iris snuck a peek up at him.

His jawline was sharp, his handsome face pleasing to the eye and impossible to look away from.

He lowered his eyes gently and caught her staring.

Iris blushed and looked down, staring at his chest. Her heart raced, and even her ears got hot.

Julian smiled softly. His voice was warm and gentle. "Am I good-looking?"

Iris smiled, pressing her lips together, and nodded a little.

"Is there any guy better looking than me?" Julian asked again.

That question came off as rather conceited, and it took Iris by surprise.

When it came to appearance, plenty of male celebrities on television were undeniably good‑looking.

Even so, Julian stood out as undeniably handsome in her eyes.

Iris spoke honestly. "Yeah."

Julian frowned a little, leaning down to look at her. His voice was a bit lower. "Who?"

"My brother. He's just as good-looking as you." Iris felt a little nervous.

Julian's face lit up right away. He kept drying her hair, smiling a little. "He can be better-looking than me. After all, you two are twins—you have similar features, both good-looking."

"If I said someone else, would you get jealous?" Iris looked up at him, her eyes full of hope.
