His Belated Love for the Abandoned Ex-Wife Chapter 88: A Surprise Accusation

"I'm doing just fine. It's just a little flu, nothing serious. I can eat and drink like normal." Beatrice didn't look well, but she seemed pretty alert.

Iris sat down on the edge of her bed and put her hand on Beatrice's forehead. It felt way hotter than her own hand. Beatrice must still have a low fever.

Beatrice pulled Iris's hand down and patted it gently. "That's sweet of you, dear. I'm really okay. Don't worry."

Julian walked over to the bed, calm as always. "I told you she's fine, but Iris was worried. We had to come check on you."

Beatrice froze for a second. She looked at Iris, then at Julian. She noticed how different Julian was with Iris now, and her heart felt warm with relief.

Her smile got bigger, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "I took the medicine the doctor gave me. I'm already feeling better. You two should go on a date this weekend. Don't hang around here and get my flu."

Beatrice sounded so strong. She didn't look weak at all. It was just a regular cold, nothing serious.

Iris finally let go of her worry. She held Beatrice's hand and warned her, "Grandma, don't stare at your phone so much. Rest more, drink lots of water, and take your medicine on time..."

Beatrice cut her off, smiling but pretending to be annoyed. She waved her hand. "You're more nagging than me. Julian, take her on a date. I don't want her catching my cold."

Iris smiled, helpless.

Julian took Iris's hand. "Grandma, get some rest. We'll head out now."

"Okay."

"We'll come back to see you when you're better."

"Alright, go already! It's the flu. I can pass it to you."

Iris said goodbye to Beatrice, then let Julian lead her out of the room.

As soon as they closed the door, Julian let go of her hand. He pulled a pack of disinfectant wipes out of his pocket and gently wiped her hands.

Iris looked confused. She watched him work carefully and asked softly, "Are my hands dirty?"

"Grandma has the flu virus on her hands. She held yours, so disinfecting them is safer."

Iris didn't refuse his kindness. She loved the feeling of being taken care of, of being loved by him.

It felt like when they first met on that blind date. Julian had been so nice, so gentle to her back then.

That's how she'd fallen for him. She couldn't help it, drawn in by his warmth.

Iris never thought bringing up divorce would work this well. If she'd known Julian would change so much to keep her, she would've said something sooner. She wouldn't have let him ignore her for two whole years.

Julian finished wiping her hands, then led her to the dining table. "May, is there any breakfast left?"

"Sure is!" May came out of the kitchen smiling. "I knew you two would come home, so I made something nice for you."

As she spoke, May's eyes fixed on Julian and Iris's holding hands. She froze for a second, then her smile got even bigger, her voice excited. "You two sit down. I'll bring it right out."

Julian pulled out a chair for Iris.

"Thank you." Iris was in a great mood, a sweet feeling filling her chest.

Julian sat down next to her.

May brought out a big breakfast.

The portions weren't huge, but there were lots of different things.

There were scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, buttery pancakes, maple syrup waffles, sausage links, hash browns, toast with jam, and a side of fresh fruit.

In this villa, a breakfast like this was normal. The Everhart family was big, and everyone had different tastes. So May always made something for everyone. If there was leftover food, they'd throw it away. But they never cut corners to save money.

Iris didn't like wasting food, but she respected their way of life.

Julian ate his breakfast and said softly, "After we eat, you can look around. Dad wants to talk to me about something. When I'm done, I'll take you out to have fun."

Iris bit into a sandwich and turned to him, her eyes full of expectation. "Where are we going?"

"Where do you want to go?"

"Anywhere is fine." Her heart felt sweet. As long as he was with her, anywhere would be okay.

"I saw online that the lavender farm is beautiful in June. I want to take you there and take some nice photos."

"Did you look this up on purpose?" Iris smiled playfully.

Julian looked a little embarrassed, the corners of his mouth lifting. He picked up a pancake and put it in his mouth. He didn't answer, just nodded quietly.

Iris felt full of expectation.

After breakfast, Julian went into the study.

Iris sat on the living room sofa and waited.

Jenny was playing the game, totally focused.

Her game ended, and she lost.

She yelled at her phone angrily, "What the hell, teammates? Don't elementary school kids have class on weekends? Trash! Total trash! You ruined everything!"

She still wasn't happy after yelling. She threw her phone on the sofa and punched the couch with her fist.

Iris was shocked by her weird, childish behavior. She watched Jenny throw her fit quietly.

Jenny noticed Iris staring at her. She crossed her arms, leaned back on the sofa, narrowed her eyes, and looked at Iris with a little anger. "I heard you and your friend bullied Lily?"

Iris was shocked and confused. "Who told you that?"

Jenny pouted, rolled her eyes, and got angry without even asking for the truth. "I can't believe this! Lily is such a cheerful, lively girl. You made her depressed. She even lost her secretary job. Now she stays at home crying all day. She looks totally worn out."
