"No," Iris said firmly.

Zoe shrugged and fell silent. She knew Iris hated having Lily around; it put her in a bad mood.

Once the booth was clean, Iris walked over to Carl and held out her hand. "Give me the car keys. I'll run down to the parking lot and grab the goods."

"You shouldn't be doing this heavy stuff. I'll go."

"There's a ton of it. Plus a few boxes of flyers. Come with me."

"Got it."

Carl dropped his work, walked beside her, left the booth, and headed for the elevator.

They chatted as they went.

Over at the big booth nearby...

Julian's face was stormy. He crumpled the paper in his hand tight and tossed it into the trash can next to him.

Every employee on site froze. The sales manager's hands shook. He swallowed hard, stood up, and stammered, "Mr. Everhart, I... I showed you the exhibit types, prices, and quantities before. You said it was okay then."

Julian snapped out of his mood. He glanced at the sales manager, then at the crumpled product list in the trash. He bent down like he was going to pick it up.

But when his hand hovered over the trash can, he stopped. He thought it was dirty and couldn't bring himself to touch it.

He pulled his hand back, sat down, and cleared his throat. "It's not the exhibits. The paper's just a little grimy."

The sales manager let out a big sigh of relief. He quickly pulled out a clean product list and held it out with both hands.

Lily stood up and glanced around the expo hall. The decor was done, the sales team was in place, and the products were displayed perfectly.

She reminded him, "Mr. Everhart, the sales manager's got this covered. Everything's good. And there's a new project investment meeting at five this afternoon."

Julian twirled his pen between his fingers, staring down at the product list on the table. "Postpone the meeting. You all head back to the company first. I got something to take care of here."

All the employees were stunned.

He was the boss; his only job was to inspect. What else could he possibly need to take care of?

Lily looked confused. "There's nothing left to do here. Let's go."

Julian looked up at her. "Are you my boss?"

"No."

Julian raised an eyebrow and snorted. "Sure doesn't seem like it."

The employees weren't surprised by their banter.

Lily had made sure everyone in the company, even the cleaners, knew that she and Julian had grown up together. They were best friends, and their families were close.

As his secretary, she was bold and pushy. No one in the company dared to cross her except Julian.

A voice drifted over from nearby.

"Iris, let me carry that for you."

"It's fine. I can manage."

Julian stood up suddenly and walked out of the booth. Everyone stood up, their eyes following him.

When Lily saw Iris carrying boxes nearby, she put it all together. She bit her lip and sneered unhappily.

Julian strode over. Iris stopped in her tracks and looked at him.

Without a word, he took the box out of her hands.

Iris's hands felt light right away. She was shocked, standing there frozen.

"Where to?" Julian asked.

Iris quickly pointed to her booth. "Over there."

Julian headed toward the booth.

The employees and manager started whispering.

"He came just to inspect, but he's helping someone carry goods. That's weird."

"Who's that girl? She's really pretty."

"He's into her, right?"

"Probably. Why else would a big boss carry goods for someone?"

Owen heard them, shot them a look, and said, "Cut it out. That's Mr. Everhart's wife."

The gossiping salespeople quickly covered their mouths in shock and blinked, signaling they got it.

Lily held back her anger, forced a smile, and walked over.

"Iris, you're at the expo too? What a small world!"

Iris had just stepped into her booth when she heard Lily's voice. She turned to glance at her and said calmly, "Yeah."

Julian set the medicine box on the booth's glass counter and glanced at Carl. "Any more stuff to carry?"

"A few more boxes. I can go alone." Carl said helplessly, "No cart, so I'll have to make multiple trips."

Julian waved at the sales manager in the distance.

He rushed over with some employees.

Julian said, "Take a few guys and help him carry the goods."

Carl didn't hesitate. "No need for a crowd. Two people are enough."

It was a chance to curry favor. The sales manager personally took one employee and followed Carl down to the underground parking lot to carry the goods.

Iris and Zoe looked at each other, confused.

Lily glanced around the plain booth, forced a smile, and joked. "Iris, your booth is so shabby. It makes your company look small and weak. Who'd dare do business with you?"

Zoe clenched her fists, gritting her teeth to hold back her anger. She wanted to tear her mouth apart.

But Lily was right and that made it impossible to argue.

Iris was naturally cold. She didn't show her feelings. She ignored Lily, grabbed a small knife, and started opening the box.

"Iris, let me help you." Lily stepped forward eagerly, trying to take the goods Iris was pulling out of the box.

Iris pulled back. "No, thanks."

A little while later, when Lily saw the sales manager and Carl bringing the goods over, she hurried over to help. She put on a show of being hardworking, cheerful, and easygoing and quickly hit it off with Carl.
