When Aurora opened her eyes again, she was standing on a bustling street. The people coming and going had no aura of power.

Was she... in the human world?

When she was sucked into the rift, she had a fleeting impression of someone else entering. Was it Kaelen?

It had to be him.

Aurora felt a headache coming on. It was bad enough being inexplicably thrown into the human world, but she also had the nosy Victor with her. And as if that wasn't enough, now there was the persistent Kaelen.

She pushed aside her scattered thoughts and carefully observed her surroundings.

According to Victor, this was likely the trial of the ritual. Only by passing this test could she fully master the ritual's power.

But why was he going through the trial with her? Was there some special rule about these trials?

Aurora shook her head. There were too many puzzles. The more she thought, the dizzier she got. It was harder than being on the battlefield.

Aurora’s expression turned cold. The trials for ascension were always dangerous. She had to be extremely careful.

Aurora walked to the end of the street and saw a group of people trashing an art gallery, shouting curses.

She had no intention of getting involved and walked past. But a glimpse of a familiar figure in her peripheral vision made her stop. It was Victor!

Aurora changed her direction and walked toward the crowd to see what was happening.

From the anxious voice of Victor’s assistant, she gathered that this was his gallery.

But the owner himself was watching the scene with indifference. The assistant was more worried than the emperor.

After watching for a while, Aurora’s mind began to wander. If this was a trial, and Victor had an identity, then she must have one too.

Who was she?

Aurora turned to leave, but Victor called out to her.

"Miss, you see these people vandalizing my gallery. What do you think should be done?"

The vandal was furious, his face contorted in a snarl. "What kind of crap did you paint? And you want three hundred dollars for this? Why don't you just rob me!"

"Give me a thousand dollars, and we'll call it even. Otherwise... you can forget about keeping this gallery open."

He threatened Victor menacingly, his greedy eyes fixed on the wallet by his side.

Victor’s expression turned cold. "Sir, with all due respect, didn't you look at the painting when you bought it? Did it just turn into this today?"

"You can't afford my money."

The crowd snickered, and people started to criticize the vandal and his thugs.

"This bum, all he thinks about is how to bully people. Everyone on this street without connections has been extorted by him. If he can't trick you, he demands. If he can't demand, he robs. He has no shame."

"He's picking on this gentleman because he's a foreigner, all alone and with no one to back him up."

"Pah, shameless. I'm embarrassed to say I'm from Greystone City when I have to share it with people like him."

The vandal's face grew uglier. Usually, a little intimidation was enough to make people hand over their money. He hadn't expected this pretty boy to be so tough.

Victor looked at Aurora again, his eyes moist and alluring, a charming smile on his lips, making the young women and wives in the crowd blush.

Everyone's eyes followed his to Aurora.

"Miss, can you help me?"

Just as Aurora was about to speak, someone pushed through the crowd, shouting—
