Before Aurora could react, a young girl with delicate features appeared before her, her dark eyes wide with anxiety.

"Aurora, hurry back! Your father found out you snuck out!"

"He's so angry he's threatening to break your legs!"

Aurora was dressed in simple linen. She had assumed she was a commoner, but seeing the girl's fine clothes and accessories, she realized her own status was likely not ordinary.

She was about to ask for details when she heard whispers from the crowd.

"Isn't that the City Lord's daughter? Why is she dressed like that?"

"You don't know? I've seen her like this several times. Once, she was dressed like a beggar, sitting on the roadside. I almost gave her money, but then I felt my pocket and only had two coins, so I didn't."

Aurora ignored the gossip and was about to take the girl aside to ask questions when Victor stopped her.

Her father, who had threatened to break her legs, said nothing. He looked her up and down, and seeing that she was unharmed, he sighed.

"Next time you go out to play, tell us. What if you run into bad people? It's not safe out there these days."

"Let's go inside. The kitchen has made your favorite grilled steak."

At the dinner table, her parents kept putting food on her plate, as if they were afraid she wouldn't get enough to eat.

Aurora’s parents had died when she was born. Although Kaelen had been good to her, a man's care was always lacking something. Here, she felt a warmth she had never experienced before.

It was the true love of parents for their child.

Night fell.

Aurora was still awake, thinking about the trial, when she heard a noise outside her window.

It was Victor’s voice.

Aurora held her breath, not moving, listening to him call her name from outside.

It wasn't until she heard the word "trial" that she opened the window. Victor, drenched in the autumn rain, leaped in gracefully.
