Kaelen’s heart pounded, a sense of unease flooding him.

The old Aurora would never have said such things.

She would have asked him again and again, "Do you really not love me? Or are you afraid to love me because you were my parents' friend?"

She would have told him firmly, "Kaelen, I'm serious!"

But now, she was wishing him happiness with someone else.

Kaelen’s expression hardened, and he pulled Aurora out of the courtyard.

The fireworks ended, and the surroundings fell silent, leaving only the sound of their breathing.

Kaelen looked at her. Strangely, the words "happy birthday" were on the tip of his tongue.

But he couldn't say them.

Instead, the words turned into a cold warning. "I told you, don't make so many demands."

"I'm about to have my union ceremony. You're grown up now. You should find a mate of your own."

With that, he turned and walked away.

With that, Aurora opened her eyes and gently picked up her fork.

"Happy birthday, Aurora."

She murmured the words to herself, completing the birthday ritual.

One cake for the past, one for the future.

One bite for a peaceful year, two for a healthy life.

After finishing the cakes, Aurora extended her finger and wrote a message in the dust on the table—

Her last words to Kaelen.

[Kaelen Blackwood, may our paths never cross again for the rest of our lives. I wish you and Seraphina eternal happiness.]

[Do not miss me. Forget me. I will not return.]

To enter the array was to begin the ritual.

Aurora watched quietly, then raised her hand, gathering power in her palm.

Without hesitation, she plunged her hand into her own chest and ripped out the thread of Kaelen’s life essence.

The searing pain felt as if her body was being torn apart. Aurora’s face went pale as she opened her hand and released the essence.

"Go. Return to your rightful place."

Kaelen’s life essence flew into the distance, back toward his body.

At the same time, Aurora forcefully summoned her own essence back.

With that, she and Kaelen were whole again, separate.

Soon, a faint wisp of essence flew from afar and returned to Aurora’s body.

Meanwhile, Kaelen stood in the courtyard of Blackwood Manor.

He first felt a sharp, violent pain from Aurora’s essence within him. His face paled, and he clutched his chest.
