Kaelen had no choice but to put aside his search and go to the Council.

When he arrived in the hall, he saw that all the elders and Alphas were already present. Not a single one was missing.

He had a bad feeling, like the calm before a storm.

Kaelen’s expression darkened as he took his place.

The High Alpha began to speak. "The great war is upon us. If we do not find a way, our world will be plunged into hell."

"Enforcer Aurora has made a decision, seizing our last hope."

Hearing the familiar name, Kaelen's head snapped up to look at the High Alpha. He was desperate for news of Aurora, but his sense of dread intensified.

Why had the High Alpha summoned them with such ceremony? The battlefield was a dangerous place. What decision could Aurora possibly make?

"Enforcer Aurora has entered the Moon Goddess Ritual. Until she completes it and returns, the battlefield cannot be left undefended. Today, I..."

Kaelen could no longer hear what the High Alpha was saying. His mind was consumed by the first part of the sentence.

Aurora had gone to complete... the Moon Goddess Ritual?

What about him? Where did that leave him? She had sworn she loved him, yet she had severed all ties of love without a word. Was there nothing about him worth staying for?

Not even as family? After all these years together, how could she cast him aside so easily?

Kaelen stood there in a daze, unresponsive to those who called his name. A knot of anguish grew in his chest, suffocating him.

'Pfft!'

Kaelen's essence was already damaged from the forced exchange. He hadn't rested properly in days, his mind in turmoil. The sudden emotional upheaval caused him to spit out a mouthful of blood and collapse.

When he woke up, he recognized the familiar ceiling. He sat up abruptly.

Right, he had to find Aurora. The High Alpha had delayed him.

But where was she?

As his memory returned, Kaelen was forced to face the harsh reality. Aurora didn't want him anymore. She had abandoned him for the Moon Goddess Ritual.

"You're awake."

Seraphina walked in with a bowl of medicine, acting as if nothing had happened. She knelt meekly by his bed, ready to serve him.

"Get away from me."

Kaelen shoved her hand away. The dark herbal medicine spilled onto the floor, staining the area around Seraphina's knees.

Seraphina hid the humiliation in her eyes, keeping her head down as she knelt. She said with concern, "I heard Aurora went to the Moon Goddess Ritual. Will she really not remember us anymore?"

"Besides, I hear that place is extremely dangerous. I wonder if she..."

A chain of energy wrapped around her neck, tightening mercilessly. Seraphina's feet left the ground, her eyes bulging, her face turning crimson.

But Kaelen, leaning back on the bed, remained calm and composed, every inch the noble Alpha.

"Alpha... I don't know... what I... did wrong!"

Seraphina's struggles weakened. Kaelen lifted his hand, and the restraint vanished. She fell heavily to the floor.

With a wave of his hand, Kaelen threw a red dress threaded with gold silk onto her.

"Did you really think I didn't know what you were doing behind my back?"

Kaelen had spent five days in Aurora's room, examining everything. All her things were gone, except for this dress, still hanging in the closet, never claimed by its owner.

Or rather, Aurora had never considered it hers.

Kaelen knew Aurora's pain and sorrow. He knew she hated the color red and had never intended to use it to hurt her.

But Seraphina had taken matters into her own hands. To prevent Aurora from holding onto false hope, he had been forced to tolerate her.

And now she dared to mention Aurora in front of him. Truly shameless.
