The Choice Chapter 15
"Smart move. If you hadn't gotten out, I would've thrown you to the zombies!"
Derek first looked stunned, then grinned viciously.
He'd already grabbed the backpack from Kevin.
Sarah's face had turned purple from the struggle.
Kevin up front was trying to join the fight when Derek shoved him back.
"You—I'll fight you!"
Kevin tried crawling back, but since he hadn't pulled the handbrake, just stepped on the brake—
When he released it, the van rolled backward. In his panic, Kevin hit the gas instead.
At the same time, Tyler jumped out of the van.
In that electric moment, I only heard a series of explosions.
Opening my eyes, this commercial street near the school had become complete ruins.
Smoke, corpses, rubble merged with the distant setting sun.
Everywhere I looked was desolate.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
Just as I was getting sentimental, a coughing sound pulled me back to reality.
It was Tyler, who'd escaped with his life.
"You can see danger ahead of time, can't you?"
Tyler's face showed an unhealthy fervor, his eyes revealing madness.
My impression of him hadn't been great to begin with, plus now he'd figured out my ability.
I had a vague feeling of his ill intentions.
So I chose to ignore his questioning look.
"The first time—jumping from the window, the twisted oak, the corner zombie—could be coincidence."
"The second time—two corridors, sluggish zombies—barely a coincidence."
"But the third time, climbing the wall and getting in the car, and now jumping out—you couldn't have done those without knowing in advance!"
As Tyler spoke, his eyes grew brighter.
