The Choice Chapter 25
Others were stunned by what unfolded.
The previously clear sky suddenly erupted in violent winds.
And as time passed, it intensified.
All the high-rise windows simultaneously shattered, pierced through by sand and stone.
"Retreat into the passage immediately."
The officer made a snap decision and ordered.
The civilians were already underground. He was mainly addressing the soldiers and helicopter pilots.
Soldiers moved swiftly, evacuating quickly.
"I'm staying in the helicopter! Not going anywhere!"
Only the shrew remained. Soldiers repeatedly urged her down, but she didn't care.
The officer had no choice but to wait with the civilians—maybe the sandstorm would pass soon.
Watching that woman, I thought of Emily. Some people were just too clever for their own good.
"AAAH!"
A few more minutes passed. The sandstorm's force kept growing—so strong the helicopter glass could barely withstand it.
After that woman's scream, she was swallowed by the sandstorm.
"The sandstorm's heading toward the passage! We need to move now!"
The officer urgently ordered, leading civilians in rapid retreat.
We emerged from the passage several hours later.
Everyone's faces showed exhaustion—after all, they could face zombie attacks at any moment.
Plus the sandstorm threat behind them meant nobody dared stop.
Thank goodness the officer had decisively evacuated the elderly, sick, and children first, or the consequences would've been unimaginable.
"Ma'am, it's thanks to you. Everyone, salute!"
After exiting, the sandstorm had passed.
The officer led all soldiers in saluting me.
The other civilians applauded enthusiastically.
