This scene actually embarrassed me.

Good thing it was nighttime, or my awkwardness would be exposed.

With the sandstorm over, helicopter rotors whirred again in the sky.

I boarded the helicopter, heading to the shelter.

First the school's repeated choices, then jumping from the van to avoid explosion, then everything at the apartment complex.

This short day, multiple near-death escapes, multiple calculations and schemes.

I never imagined I'd have a day like this.

Below, zombies resumed their roaring chorus.

This was a racial war determining humanity's survival.

And this war was just the prologue—the real battle was far from beginning.

Me, an unknown high school senior, a timid, bullied punching bag.

I'd shed my weak exterior, armoring myself in steel.

What challenges awaited me at the survival base?

These were the people from the apartment complex. They'd been watching for their parents and children constantly.

Now, because of me, everyone was safe.

Their gratitude came from the heart. These smiles added some light to a world turned upside-down by zombies.

I nodded to each person.

After one night, options appeared before me again:

A. Stay at base

B. Go out fighting

I checked both separately.

Staying at the base, I'd be safe but lose my value.

But going out fighting was different—I'd maximize my worth.

There was trouble outside now, and I was the key to breaking through.

If that's the case, then fine.
