**Athena's POV**

\-2 Days Later-

A lot can happen over the course of 2 days and while Artemis and I were furious that Lily had managed to take Ares away from us, a part of me felt like it was missing. Like a puzzle piece that felt out of place. A piece that should have felt connected yet didn't. And it was taking everything in both of us to keep from falling apart.

'We need to find Ares and soon' I murmur, my body always on edge as we continued our search.

'We will. But we also need to focus on what goes on around us as well. Ares is strong, he'll be okay. So for now we need to focus. The Hunter's Moon is about to approach us, and we need to stay focused on that' replies Artemis, hoping to keep us focused by reminding me about the dream. The dream where everyone had died during the Hunter's Moon. A dream I could not afford to let come true if it was the last thing I did.

'I know. You don't have to keep reminding me. I know' I finally say, snapping at my wolf. Regret rising as these last 2 days had everyone on edge including me.

Eros spending alot of his time over at the pack house or with my uncles. The three of them hoping to find clues as to why Lily would have wanted Ares only to keep hitting dead ends. Yet, Eros's absence also meant keeping me on edge as well. As a piece of wishing he would talk to me or at least clue me in on what was going on around us.

Eros, I pondered, my mind still on my mate, having yet to sense a tiny audience behind me until it was too late.

"Mommy?" calls a soft voice, a voice in which snaps me back to my surroundings.

"Adrian? Oh, honey what brings you here?" I asked, my eyes now focused on my son. For after learning from Eros that Lily had planned to target me through my children, I instantly decided to bring my children home, not wanting them out of my sight until Lily was either found or killed.

"I was worried about you Mommy, your crying"

Blinking at my son's words, do I slowly move to lift up a hand, a dampness now on my cheek that hadn't been there earlier. My face wet from my tears as I had begun to silently cry during my initial thoughts with Artemis, too focused on what lied ahead to worry about my own feelings.

"I'm alright sweetheart. Sometimes adults cry too, especially when they are worried or upset" I admit, hoping to help ease his troubled thoughts.

"Are you crying because Daddy is gone?" asks Adrian, his words hitting me hard.

"Yes. But it's also because I miss him. But don't worry about me. Your papa and I will find him and when we do, we'll bring him back home where he belongs" I tell him, not needing my 5-year-old son to worry about matters such as this when he was still so young, a pup who had his whole life ahead of him and one filled with love at best.

Considering my words, Adrian moves to hug me yet again, my arms coming to wrap themselves around him gently. My thoughts now shifting towards Adrian. A part of me wondering how he managed to arrive here in our pack and not in someone else's pack.

'He's a blessing. A blessing given to us by the Moon Goddess. A blessing that will someday become a great Alpha for the Mystic Shadow Pack' whispers Artemis.

A reality that was slowly coming to light, because not much was actually known about Adrian other than he stayed at the orphanage until the battle with Ezra and when we adopted him. The woman running the place explaining that they had found him near the pack borders as an infant and the Alpha, Alpha Alarick, had carefully placed him within their care for safe keeping until they could figure out what happened to his current parents.

A task they couldn't quite figure out till this day and since no one had come forward, Adrian stayed within our pack. And until Adrian becomes of age, no one will know what kind of wolf he is or be able to tell what pack he originated from till then, as wolves from different packs were all different. It's what made them stand apart from other wolves.

'He's OUR blessing' growls Artemis, not willing to give Adrian up.

'Yes, he's our blessing' I tell her back until suddenly I hear it. The faint sounds of warning bells. Bells signaling that our pack was now under attack from an outside source. My thoughts now on my children as I quickly move to grab Adrian, lifting him into my arms before rushing for my triplets.

Ryder and Nathan in a protective stance as they carefully hug their sister Samara.

"Alright you three, let's go. Mommy needs to get you four some place safe" I murmur, my hands carefully reaching for Samara first before handing her over to Adrian. "Okay sweetheart, I need you to hold your sister while I move to grab your brothers."

Doing as he's told, Adrian quietly takes a hold of Samara. My hands just coming in contact with Ryder and Nathan when Lucas calls out to me through the mindlink.

'LUNA! Three unknown bogies coming your way. We tried stopping them but were surrounded by Rogues' replies Lucas, his voice strained as he tries to communicate with me.

'Three?' I asked in an attempt to verify what he had just said.

'Yes'

Shit. Mentally cursing to myself, I move to find the closest hiding spot I could, knowing it wouldn't take long for my unwanted visitors to show up. Spotting the closet, I quickly usher them over to it, opening the door before motioning them inside. "Quick in here" I say, hoping to be quick before looking over to my oldest, Adrian.

"Adrian, Sweetheart, Mommy needs you to be brave okay. I need you to keep you and your siblings safe. I need to know you'll stay here and be as quiet as possible. And whatever you do, DON'T leave this spot unless either I or your Papa comes for you. Do you understand me? No matter what you hear downstairs, don't leave this spot."

"Okay Mommy"

"Good boy" I say before kissing each of my children before moving to shut the door, hoping to the Moon Goddess that they would be safe.

'Hurry Athena, I can sense them close by' murmurs Artemis, just as I move to rush from the room, hoping to distract those approaching my home.

When hurrying towards the bottom of the house, do I suddenly hear it. The sound of howling followed by the sound of smashing. A clear indicator that they had broken a window to get inside, my eyes instantly landing on three familiar wolves who now stood before me.

"No..." I whispered, my blood running cold at who I saw before me.

"Well, Well... if it isn't our delectable pack slut."

Feeling a sudden chill rush through me, I know I have to defend myself or else fear of them finding my children. Children who had no business being around these three horrible people, ever.

'We can't let them pass'

'They won't. I won't let them'

With that in mind, I continued to stare them down, Artemis ready to shift. 'There going to pay dearly for this' was all I heard as we continued to hold our ground, the three unwelcomed guests still standing before us, amused. Brian, Shane and David, the official rejects of Moon Walker as they now stand before me in wolf form. Teeth bare as they eye me hungrily.

"Come along, Athena or else" taunts Brian, his eyes on me the whole entire time.

"As if" I muttered, my eyes still on them, not trusting them as far as I could throw them.

"You sound like I'm giving you a choice in the matter. Either you come along peacefully or I have Shane here go kill your darling defenseless children who I know you have hidden away somewhere upstairs, because I can smell them."

Tensing at his words, do I instantly feel Artemis growl. A glint of something lurking behind his eyes showing me that he wasn't kidding and would actually do it.

'Artemis?' I asked, hesitant about putting my children in danger if I could help it.

'We need to fight'

Not needing to be told twice, we quickly change forms, Artemis now coming to the front with her own teeth bared. Ready to fight to the death.

"NO ONE THREATENS MY CHILDREN AND LIVES" was all Artemis says as she pounced, making the first move. The sound of growls rising as we each continue to fight. Three against one, the occasional yelps sounding when one of us landed a hit or sank our teeth into the other's fur.
