**Rick's POV**

I knew the moment that Alex and I had separated from each other that things could go badly. I on the other hand just didn’t know how badly it would get until I managed to return to his side.

‘We have to trust in Alex, believe that he’ll be alright until we can regroup,’ whispers Arden, sensing my easiness for my brother.

‘I know’ I sigh, Arden still leading us through the forest as our senses stay on high alert while we continue to look for Shane and David, a part of me figuring that Alex had gone after Brian for other reasons.

‘But what if Brian tries something with him while we’re looking for Shane and David? Could we really be okay with it if we lost another brother?’ I move to say back to Arden, that sudden what if now looming over us as if something terrible was about to happen.

‘We can’t afford to think like that Rick. We have to keep a clear mind if we want to end this once and for all’ replies Arden just as we continue to walk further and further. The sound of silence deafening to our ears even as we continue on with our search.

**Shane's POV**

After having separated from Brian, David and I both chose to run off in opposite directions of him, both of us knowing that the Lycan King wouldn’t be able to follow all three of us and with Brian as the main focus of his rage we on the other hand were free to escape or so we thought until Athena’s other uncle, Alpha Rick began heading in our direction.

A smirk beginning to rise as I move to look at David. Both of us nodding in silent agreement as we both move to hide ourselves from view. Each of us waiting for that perfect moment to strike as it would be two against one and there would be no way that he would be able to win against the both of us at once.

This is almost two easy, I muse, my eyes still keeping a watchful eye on the Alpha. David hiding not too far from me as we sat there and waited.

Athena’s Uncle slowly closing the gap between us, giving us the perfect opportunity to pounce.

‘You ready?’ I ask David through the link.

‘Yeah, I’m ready whenever you are,’ replies David.

‘Okay. On the count of three. One. Two. Three’

The moment we count down to three is the moment David and I pounce. Athena’s Uncle now at our mercy as I move to jump onto his back, David moving to attack his flank in an attempt to knock him over.

**Rick's POV**

The minute I move into an open clearing is the moment those two decide to attack. One of them jumping onto my back while the other attempts to attack my flank. Both hoping to knock me over which was something Arden and I had anticipated for as he moves to claw at the other wolf's face.

A howl of pain now radiating throughout the air as we catch the wolf right in the snout. Both having been in wolf form when they both decided on attacking me.

‘Child’s play’ growls Arden as he moves to attack yet again. His body now slamming against a nearby tree as we hope to throw the one who was on top of our back off.

A yelp of pain greeting us as we manage to slam them yet again. The wolf finally letting go before falling to the ground. Momentarily stunned, we use that to our advantage before moving to pounce in return. Arden’s jaw now locking firmly around his neck before biting down on it hard. Blood oozing from where we had bitten the other wolf.

The said wolf now thrashing as they attempt to get free only to have Arden bite harder. Arden being more stronger than them by a long shot as we also had Lycan genes in us as well. And while we may not be Lycan like Alex, we were still strong enough because of it.

‘Finish it Arden’ I command, not one to play with our prey if we could help it. The need to get back to Alex and Athena overpowering everything else in that moment as Arden simply growls before snapping the wolf's neck. The wolf beneath us now dead as we move to toss them aside.

Our focus now turning back towards the other wolf in question, the one who got clawed in the face from trying to attack me. Blood still oozing from where we had hit them just as they moved to growl at us, clearly not happy that we just killed their friend and fellow pack member.

Returning the growl, we move to circle one another like one would a challenge with the other one still growling as they attempt to look for an opening shot. My eyes still trained on them as they did.

‘Steady’ I murmur to Arden, remembering all our years of training. Our father, Alpha Killian Moonblood, training us personally when we were children. Always making sure that we knew how to handle ourselves when needed.

‘Steady’

Snorting at my constant reminder, Arden continues to circle. His eyes still locked on the other wolf even as they decide to charge us head on. Arden side stepping just enough to make them stumble.

Arden then using that to his advantage as we pounce yet again, our weight overpowering the other wolf even as we move to pin him to the ground. Our jaw now locking tightly around his neck as we growl.

Our growl leaving no room for resistance even as they wait for their fate. A fate that leaves them just like the other one, dead. Arden instantly snapping their neck before releasing them from within our mouth.

‘Finally… it’s over’

Tilting my head up towards the sky I move to release a howl. A howl to signal an end. A faint howl being returned as I move to leave the now two dead wolves behind me.

‘No more will they be able to torment my family’

‘Yes no more’ admits Arden, our focus now on Alex as we move to connect with him.

‘Alex? Is the other one dead?’

Waiting for his reply I try not to worry, not liking the way Alex had yet to respond back to me.

‘Alex?’ I try again, only to be greeted by the same silence.

‘Alex?’

Now completely worried for my last surviving brother do I instantly begin to worry. My paws now taking me to the last known spot that I had officially seen Alex before heading in the opposite direction, my heart praying to the Moon Goddess that he was okay, unsure what I would do if he wasn’t.

Please Moon Goddess, please let my brother be okay, I beg. My mind racing with all the what ifs as I continue to run like never before. The need to get to him growing even as my paws pad against the forest floor.

‘ALEX!’

Whining in response to my utter silence and the need to know rising, Arden continues to race. Our body not physically prepared for what we were about to see once we managed to find him. Our bond strong enough to withstand anything only for us to skid to a stop. Our blood running cold at what we now saw.

No… Please, God… NO!

Releasing a pain filled howl I try to summon for help. Anyone who was able to link with me all while hoping that someone, anyone would hear me as I move to approach a motionless Alex. Fear now gripping at my heart the closer I get to him. The thought of him possibly being dead as I move to nudge him with my snout rises. Another whimper rising as I still get no response from him.

No, Please. Please Alex, I cry another howl rising from my throat as I try to keep it together. My eyes scanning for the one responsible for this rising only to find the exBeta dead. A hole within his chest indicating that Alex must have ripped out his heart when killing him before he succumbed to whatever it was that hurt him.

Please… You can’t leave us. What about Athena, What about Rosalyn. They need you. I need you. Not to mention Adrian, Ryder, Nathan and Samara.

Filled with grief I move to howl again and again. Arden, now moving to lay curled up next to Alex unaware that help would soon be arriving in the form of one small person, Athena.
